Chapter 4 Getting answers

Chapter 3

Detective Moore's pov

I was setting at his desk looking through evidence and case files. I was so behind on my work, and everyone was down my back. I just couldn't focus on anything but one case right now I eat slept and breathed it, and it was affecting my whole life. I needed to find answers and make things right.

I felt as if I were somehow responsible for everything that has happened, but I couldn't tell everyone that's why I was so obsessed with this case. They would throw me off of it then I would never get any answers. My partner was getting very suspicious of me, so I needed to get it together and fast before I lose my job and my mind.

I was getting ready to call Cody back when my partner came in and told me we had to go check up on a lead. This just might be what we need in this case. Maybe then everyone could get the answers we all needed and move on with our lives. I needed this to just be over.

So, I grabbed my coat and went out the door and we drove off.

"Hey man you alright. You seem to be somewhere else lately."

"Yea sorry man just have a lot on my mind things going on at home me and Ivy are on the rocks she moved back into her place last night."

"Oh, shit man sorry to hear that I thought this one was a keeper."

"Yea guess she just couldn't handle my job and all the hours I work it happens. So, what is this new lead we are chasing after now?

"Someone said they have proof on who last was with the victim. If we knew who last saw him maybe, we could go from there."

"Yea that could help out a lot."

Inside Moore was going a little crazy if someone last saw him with the victim, he would become a suspect. I couldn't let that happen I needed to know what this witness knew before my partner got to him.

"Hey Adam, I was thinking maybe we should do the whole good cop bad cop thing since we don't know how credible our witness is. I say I go in talk to the person act like the bad cop and you come in and play the good one."

"Why do I always have to be the good cop?"

"Because you are so much nicer than me."

I can tell Adam liked my idea already he was just too nice sometimes.

"Ok sounds good to me I'll let you have a go at them first. I don't even know the name of this witness we don't have much to go on, so this sounds like a good idea to me. They are in room 214 just be careful I will give you a few minutes before I go in. If you need me before that radio me and I will be there."

I knocked on the door and was surprised to see none other than Ivy behind the door she was shocked to see me alone, but let me right in.

"Well, I wasn't expecting you Malcolm but come in."

"Since when did you get this place?"

"I got it when I decided I wasn't enough for you anymore."

"Look Ivy you are everything to me just I have so much going on at work and it just gets to be too much at times. It has nothing to do with you. You know I love you hell I wanted to marry you."

"Well, we could talk about all of this at another time right now aren't you here because of what I know?"

"Um yes I am I need to know what you saw the night of December 1st?"

"Well as you know I was out to dinner with the girls that night and they all left early but I stayed to have dessert and talk with Julia about something. When I walked out to my car, I saw two people talking they seemed to be pretty heated some girls name came up I think I heard them say Harley any way they started to push each other and was really going at it I got really scared so I hurried to take off."

"Did you see who the guy was?"

"Well, they were both pretty tall tanned and dark hair almost like they were twins or something."

"Is there anything else?"

"No that's all I saw I just wanted to get out of there. I'm sorry I don't know more, but I hope that helps."

"Thank you, Ivy it helps a lot now, we know he was arguing with someone and over a female. Now all we have to do is figure out who Hailey is and what she has to do with all of this. You helped a lot I will be in touch if we need anything else from you and Ivy would you please have dinner with me tonight?"

"Um ok and sure I guess we do need to talk about some things."

"I will pick you up at 8 if that's ok?"

"Ok I will see you then."

I walked out and told Adam that everything was fine, and I got all the information we needed he looked at me and didn't know what to do.

"The witness was Ivy she said she saw two men arguing both dark hair and tan. One was our victim now all we have to do is find who the other one is. She said she heard them mention the name Harley, so we have something to go on but not much."

"Seems like all we got is more questions instead of answers."

"Looks like it."

We got in the car and headed back to our office to go over all the files again to see if there would be any mention of someone named Harley. I knew I needed to call Cody and see if he knew anything about this girl that could be the cause everything.
