Chapter 2 A fresh start

Janis' pov

Janis got up early and decided to treat herself to some breakfast at her favorite place the diner just down the street from her apartment. It was her go to place because it was quiet, and she was usually left alone plus the food there was amazing and good priced, so she didn't go broke trying to eat.

She set by herself enjoying her food and looking over what her courses would be the start of the school year. Starting school in a whole new state was exciting but also a little scary so she wanted to be prepared and know where every class was going to be and read up on the syllabus.

She paid her bill and left Mille a nice tip and started on her way back home. When the sexiest man she has ever seen came up to her and asked if she could point him in the right direction. She usually never talked to strangers, but this guy seemed to be around her age and somehow felt safe. She immediately trusted him.

She looked down at the paper and told him she could take him there since she lived in the same building. He smiled up at her and said thanks. He had the most amazing smile, and she could get lost in his eyes. They walked in silence until they got to the building.

"Thank you for showing me where it was, I was so lost, and no one but you even stopped when I asked for help."

"It's not a problem. A lot of people are very rude here, but I guess coming from a small town helps me to me nicer to people."

"Well thank you I didn't catch your name I'm Nathan, but you can call me Nate."

"Nice to meet you Nate I'm Janis."

"Beautiful name for a beautiful girl. I must go but I'm sure I will see you around again."

"Yea see you around if you ever need a tour guide, I'm in apartment 3b."

"I just might take you up on that offer."

He walked down the hall and I floated into my apartment I could not believe such a gorgeous guy called me beautiful. This day was starting off to be a great one so far. I heard a knock on the door and a part of me was hoping it'd be Nate wanting me to show him around. When I opened the door, I saw a Greek god at my door.

"Hello sorry to bother you, but I just moved in across the hall at 2b and I just wanted to let you know it may be a little loud as we are moving stuff in."

"Oh, thank you for letting me know, but its ok it's loud in here all the time with all the college kids that live here."

He laughed at that and it sounded like music to my ears. This hunk was going to be my new neighbor and Nate lived somewhere in this building how could I get so lucky?

"Well, I better go unpack or I will never get done, but it was nice meeting you I'm Cody."

"Hi Cody, I'm Janis nice to meet you neighbor."

He went back into his apartment laughing. How could I be such a dork of course this is the reason why I am still single. I moved to New York for a fresh start and to go to Miette Studio one of the finest culinary arts schools here.

I moved from Ames Iowa a town that is so much different from here. I'm a small-town girl now living in a big city that I'm not so sure I fit in to. I haven't had a boyfriend or even a date since I moved here, I wasn't a stick thin model I had curves and I wasn't going to starve myself just to fit in to what society wanted me to be.

Maybe with two ridiculously hot guys moving into my building my luck would change. I hope it changes soon because with no friends or family here I'm starting to get very lonely and very home sick.
