Chapter 9 Hurt Pride

"Milk and vegetables are good for you. They are healthy."

Elise seemed unaware of the danger that was fast approaching. She picked up the bowl and scooped a spoonful of porridge. Before feeding Eric, she blew on it gently.

When Eric's mouth was stuffed with the egg roll, shock overtook him, followed swiftly by anger.

However, when he saw Elise's expectant and bright eyes gazing at him, he took a bite.

He had to admit that the egg roll was delicious. Even the milk did not feel too overpowering. It was covered by the smell of ham.

Much to his dismay, he was forced to admit that it was quite scrumptious.

But accepting it so easily would be embarrassing.

'Mommy is so annoying! She forced me to eat something I don't like. I must protest!'

"Ric, open your mouth! Let me feed you! Come on. It's not hot." Elise touched the outside of the bowl to make sure the porridge wasn't too hot or cold. Then, she delivered a spoonful to Eric's mouth.

According to her, making a fuss about food wasn't good behavior. And it was wrong for parents to overindulge their children.

If Eric didn't like what he was being fed, she would pacify him and try to make him eat it anyway.

In any case, perhaps it was the natural tone of Elise's request, or perhaps Eric had been pacified so softly for the first time ever, but something calmed him down.

He held back his protest.

'Why not taste it before throwing a tantrum? After all, Mommy has made it herself.

If I don't even taste it, she might feel offended or sad. It might taint her enthusiasm for the job. I'll eat just a mouthful of porridge. Nothing more.'

So, Eric allowed the spoon to enter his mouth, much to everyone's shocked gaze.

And then he ate another spoonful. And another. Until eventually, the bowl was fully emptied.

A smiling ray of sunshine crept into the dining room through the window and seemed to sprinkle warmth on the table.

It danced around Eric and Elise, putting the servants into a trance for a moment.

The servants found the scene both wholesome and shocking. Despite being fed an entire bowl of vegetable porridge, Eric wasn't angry and even seemed to enjoy it. That didn't make any sense.

Even Eric's father could not make him eat vegetables.

Was this woman a fairy godmother of some sort?

"Mommy, why did you force me to eat something I don't like?" Eric began protesting.

"Didn't you like it? You finished the whole bowl. I'm good at cooking, right?"

Elise hadn't expected Eric to be so obedient and cooperate with her. But the boy had really finished an entire bowl of porridge.

Perhaps her cooking was really to his taste. 'I'll make him more delicious food tomorrow!'

Elise was fully immersed in a sense of achievement after pacifying a difficult child. She completely forgot about the contract.

"Yes." Eric looked into Elise's bright eyes and nodded subconsciously. But then, he felt like something was wrong.

Wasn't he going to protest? Why was he agreeing with her? She had forced him to eat vegetables.

An embarrassed Eric pouted unhappily and stared at the remaining egg rolls. The more he looked at them, the more annoyed he became.

'How could Mommy be like this? After all, I have my pride to consider!'

Eric had nowhere to vent his emotions. He suddenly grabbed an egg roll and raised it high.

The servants trembled slightly when they saw this. Eric was about to get mad. A temper tantrum was near.

Elise bit the egg roll in Eric's hand!

"Well... I will eat the rest!" Elise swallowed it in one gulp and chewed.

Burping, she asked Eric in an embarrassed tone, "Ric, you must find it really delicious. That is why you fed me, right?"

'Is she an idiot?'

Angela's eyes widened in shock as she looked at Elise. The woman was repeatedly making the wrong moves. 'Can't she see that Eric's face has turned red in rage?'
