Chapter 6 You Need Money

For Eric, the warmth of the woman's soft, gentle fingers gave a comfort that was completely different from what he felt with his cold-blooded father.

He really didn't understand why she was so hesitant.

Even if for his emotionless father, she should say yes.

If this woman did a good job, he wouldn't mind giving her two photos of his father as a bonus.

Elise saw Eric's knitted eyebrows and felt an irresistible compulsion to smooth them. She thought about the child's question for a while.

"Have you discussed it with your father? Besides, I have my job!"

"I can make decisions for such a small thing. I don't need to discuss this with Daddy. Just sign your name!"

Eric was miffed when Elise asked him to discuss the matter with his father.

'Why did all these women like to get close to my father? I am more charming, okay?' he thought with a small pout.

"What?" Elise asked in surprise.

'Are the children of rich families all so capricious? Don't they need their parents' permission to do anything? Besides, if I accept the job, he'll be giving me a salary of thirty thousand dollars a month. Can a child really make the decision?'

Elise cast a furtive glance at the old man who had been calmly reading the contract.

'He must be a butler!

Are they really going to let Eric do whatever he wants?'

"Miss Ye, don't worry! As long as you sign the contract, it will come into force immediately. Eric's father will not care about these trifles. Moreover..." After a slight pause, the butler assured with a smile, "We helped you quit your job last night. At the moment, you are no longer affiliated with your former company."

"What did you say?" Elise yelled upon finding out that she was currently unemployed because of these people.

'I can't believe this!

How could they do that?'

Seemingly immune to her panic, the butler continued in a kind tone, "Your father's monthly medical fees reach about twenty thousand, is that correct? You have a stay-at-home stepmother and a younger sister who is still in school. So..."

At that, the butler trailed off and looked at Elise indifferently, waiting for her to decide.

In short, Elise had just lost her job and was short of money.

The salary of this job was just enough to cover for her family's financial needs.

'Is this the so-called coercion and temptation?

Isn't the rich too arrogant?'

There was a sudden flurry of movement.

Then, as Elise looked on in a daze, Eric took out a piece of paper and placed it in front of her.

'Did this child just issue me a check?' she thought, stunned.

"You need money? I can advance you your salary for half a year. You'd better sign the contract quickly! Once I change my mind, you'll get nothing. I have to go to class later-I don't have time to wait for you."

"Miss Ye, please sign it right now! Eric always keeps his promises. Rest assured, he won't lie to you. Your salary for a half year is just a month's pocket money for Eric. Once signed, this contract takes full legal effect."

As if to confirm what the butler said, Eric nodded with a serious expression that seemed too mature for his age.

Not only that, all of the servants in the room nodded with him and looked at Elise as if persuading her with their eyes.

With mixed feelings, Elise picked up the pen and signed her name.

Long after the butler had left with the signed contract, Elise stared blankly forward in a trance, feeling as if she were in a dream. She wasn't quite sure what had happened.

In her daze, she failed to notice the small smile that flashed across the child's features as soon as the butler was out of the room.

"Good! From now on, you are my mommy! I'm allowing you to call me by my nickname, Ric." Then, he crossed his arms across his chest and turned his head as he issued a warning. "No Reeky! Call me that, and I will fire you!"

That serious expression on his face amused her. Trying to hold back her laughter, Elise nodded with a solemn expression.

Eric gave a fake cough to hide his shyness and continued, "Mommy, help me put on my clothes!"
