Chapter 10 A Crush

Every servant in the dining room held their breath. They were sure Eric was going to lose his temper.

But something entirely different happened.

Eric blushed.

He wasn't angry this time. The redness in his cheeks did not arise out of rage. It was shyness.

The little boy was shy! Elise's tongue had touched his finger just now.

It made him go numb, as if from electric shock.

Eric felt like his chest was pounding. His face turned even redder as he looked into Elise's bright eyes.

'Oh my! Is this what love feels like?'

"You like the egg rolls? You should eat them all."

Eric rapidly withdrew his hand, looked away, and jumped off the chair. Putting his hands behind his back, he left in an imposing manner.

He hadn't gotten angry or thrown something in anger; neither had he asked someone to throw Elise out of the house for being so reckless and disobedient.

The servants remained silent. They gazed at Elise with complicated emotions.

She must be a fairy!

Unaware of their thoughts, Elise breathed a sigh of relief once Eric was gone.

She had also sensed that Eric was about to lose his temper. It was understandable. After all, she had forced him to eat something he didn't like.

When Eric kept silent just now, a cold aura seemed to spread about him that would make her heart skip a beat.

Elise was happy with herself. She had made a clever move and gotten closer to Eric in the process. The maid disrupted her thoughts as she pointed to the egg rolls and asked, "Will you still eat the egg rolls?"

"Yes!" She hadn't eaten anything yet.

Three minutes later, Elise finished her meal under the maid's incredulous gaze.

"Thank you. Listen, Eric's dad must be terribly busy, right? He..." 'He never appears.'

"What do you want with him? Whatever it is, just stop dreaming. He is out of your league. Don't try to get to him through Eric."

Before Elise could finish her words, the maid looked at her in contempt, as if she was a seductress.

Her words rendered Elise speechless. She just wanted to exchange a few pleasantries with the man. Why did she see her as a coquette?

Who was Eric's father anyway?

"Is Eric's dad so powerful?" she asked.

The maid's eyes lit up. Her expression was full of admiration and yearning as she replied, "Well, I'm afraid you'll be shocked after I tell you who he is."

"Just tell me and let me be the judge of that."

"He's Shepherd Li!" The proud declaration caused Elise to choke on the water.

The maid was right. It did shock her.

Shepherd was the owner of a powerful business empire in Y City. He came from a background of immense mystery and power. It was said that his influence had permeated into politics a few years ago. And from Y City, that influence had now expanded across the whole country.

He was so rich that he could do whatever he wanted to.

Even imagining someone as powerful was impossible for Elise. She could never dream of that much wealth.

Further, there were several reports about him in newspapers, on TV, and across the Internet. But so far, no one had ever photographed his face. He was a total mystery.

Elise only knew about him since she had occasionally heard Marion's rich friends mention this man while she was in the Chi family.

She could vaguely recall the ladies describing him as a ruthless, brutal, and ugly demon.

She thought to herself, 'Eric is his son?

Good heavens! Eric's mom must be incredibly beautiful. Otherwise, how would an ugly demon have such a cute son?'

Elise felt sorry for Eric. Having such a father did not sound like a pleasant experience.

'No wonder he wanted to hire a mommy.

His father might not like me.'
