Chapter 5 The Compensation

After figuring out what this was all about, Daniel turned around in his seat and said to the man who was sitting still behind him, "Hey, bro, I'm pretty sure that this girl is in big trouble. Considering the huge scene she made last night, I'm pretty sure that Colorful Entertainment Company fired her. So... what should we do? Should we help her out?"

The indifferent man looked through the tinted car windows at the girl outside. His eyes darkened slightly, but no one would have been able to guess what he was thinking.

But little Jimmy's reaction was markedly different from his dad's. He tilted his head back, held his father's big hand with one hand and pointed eagerly at Sophia with the other. Then he said firmly, "A true man wouldn't stand back and watch the woman he loved get hurt. Daddy, let's help her out of this mess now!"

Daniel turned around shocked, speechless at Jimmy's words. 'Jimmy, I knew you were smart, but I didn't know you were so mature. How can you possibly be so wise at your age?' Daniel marveled.

"Okay. Sure." Up until then the silent man finally uttered his approval when he realized that Sophia was about to leave with her two big suitcases.

Upon hearing his words, little Jimmy hastily opened the car door, jumped out and ran towards Sophia as fast as he could, his arms outstretched.

While Sophia was trying to figure out how to call an Uber taxi, she suddenly noticed the cute and chubby kid running quickly towards her—a kid that seemed strangely familiar. Giving him a motherly smile, Sophia put down her suitcases and turned her attention to the boy. "Little boy, are you lost?"

Little Jimmy wrapped his arms around her legs and hugged them tightly, closing his eyes and enjoying the feeling of warmth. Then he asked in his sweet voice, "Don't you remember me? We met last night. You were in my daddy's room."

'Met last night?' Sophia studied the little boy more carefully and realized, 'Oh my God! It's really the boy from last night! Since the kid is here, this can only mean that the stony-faced man is somewhere nearby, too.' She closed her eyes tightly, silently praying the man was not there, and then opened them again.

When she opened them again, she realized that her luck was even worse than she thought!

Two handsome men appeared before her. One was friendly-looking and handsome—he looked exactly like one of the gorgeous princes in the idol dramas. The other man looked as cold as ice... and as arrogant as a prince. She couldn't imagine anyone approaching him voluntarily.

Sophia panicked, frantically searching for a solution. 'Daniel and his friend are here! What the hell am I supposed to do? Should I run away?'

She quickly erased the insane idea and decided to wait and see what would happen next. Sophia faked a polite smile and raised her hand to Daniel, "Hi, Mr. Lin. What a coincidence, bumping into you here."

Daniel looked sideways at the man beside him and then said to Sophia, "Miss Sophia, if I may be frank, it's not a coincidence at all, actually. We came here deliberately to talk to you about what happened last night."

"Well... didn't I apologize last night?" Sophia knew that she was clearly in the wrong, and her voice reflected her self-conscious mindset.

"You really hurt Vincent's feelings yesterday. How can you just apologize and think that's enough?" said Daniel.

Glancing at the icy man beside Daniel, Sophia bowed deeply before him and said, "Sir, I am very sorry for what happened last night. Please find it in your heart to forgive me."

The man took a few deliberate steps towards Sophia and he was now standing only a meter away from her. "My name is Vincent Xiao," he announced.

Without raising her head to look at him, Sophia continued apologizing, "Yes, Mr. Xiao. I was wrong to do what I did. Again, I implore you to forgive me."

Suddenly something clicked in Sophia's brain. 'Wait a minute... did I just hear an important piece of information? Vincent Xiao? THE Vincent Xiao?

Oh my God! It IS Vincent Xiao! The biggest boss in the whole city and wealthiest man in the whole country—everyone wants to know him or be him. He is like a God in this country.'

Sophia, however, just realized that she was the very unlucky woman to have messed with him.

She searched her mind frantically for any way to fix this giant mess! Sophia's reeling mind then went completely blank.

"Since you admit that you are at fault, you will need to compensate him. That's why we came here today—to discuss the nature of the compensation," Daniel explained and moved closer to her.

Sophia looked desperately at Daniel, then at Vincent, and then at her two big suitcases. 'What could I possibly give to this God of wealth? Vincent doesn't care about the few measly dollars I have left. Not when he probably has billions!'

The only conceivable compensation she could now give to Vincent Xiao was herself. But even if he wanted her, there was no way she would ever do that willingly...
