Chapter 10 You Deserve To Be Single

She took a few steps ahead to have a closer look. 'Isn't that little Jimmy? Mr. Xiao's son?'

Once Sophia was sure that he was Jimmy, she looked around to see if there were any bodyguards or family members in the vicinity. She searched for a while and did not notice anyone.

'Does this mean he got separated from the rest of the family? Is it even possible for such a mishap to happen? Who could even imagine that Vincent Xiao's child would ever get separated from the family? After all Jimmy was the son of Vincent himself and he was always surrounded by numerous bodyguards. His present situation is not making any sense at all'

Sophia constantly hesitated because she was unsure if she should approach little Jimmy at all or leave him alone. This is when the child noticed her. Seeing Sophia, the child wiped his tears and ran towards her, shouting, "Mommy!"

Children tended to call their family members in times of distress. Sophia did not mind little Jimmy's innocent mistake. She squatted on the floor and lovingly wiped the tears on the boy's face.

"Where is your father, baby? How come you are all alone over here?"

Little Jimmy could hardly speak in between the bouts of sobs that stifled his voice. However with some difficulty he managed to say, "Daddy is busy in a meeting today. I came here with my baby-sitter. But I lost her somehow. Will you please take me home, mommy?"

Jimmy looked at Sophia expectantly with his big beautiful eyes. She was confused as to what should be done in such a situation.

"Alright do not worry, I will take you home. Do you know the address of your home?"

The little boy froze for a moment and then bit his lips and clenched his fists. Then he slightly kept on tapping his head and with it muttered to himself, "Idiot, how can I forget! What's the name of the street I live? What is it?"

Sophia looked at Jimmy again. Knowing that she had no escape from the situation, she sighed. She did not have the heart to say no to the child. She lovingly held the child in her arms and softly said, "Please don't be scared little one. Don't worry a bit. It didn't matter if you didn't remember where your home was. Do you remember you father's contact number? Can you give me that?"

Hearing Sophia say that little Jimmy who was still in her arms involuntarily pursed his lips as tears came out from his eyes. In between his sobs he paused and said, "I... I think I remember that... Does that mean you will call daddy?"

"Yes, yes. I need to inform him first. Then he will come and pick you up in no time." Sophia smiled kindly as she ruffled the hair on Jimmy's head.

Little Jimmy finally calmed and wiped his tears. Then he extended his hands and said, "Mommy, phone."

Sophia quickly grabbed her phone from her jeans pocket. The screen of this phone was broken. The phone screen was broken in the Platinum Hotel the same night she met this little boy.

She quickly unlocked the phone with her fingerprint. Then dialed the number as told by Jimmy.

"Beep, beep, beep. ... ..."

They let the phone ring for a full minute but no one answered the call. Sophia thought to herself, 'There is the possibility that someone like Vincent Xiao wouldn't answer a call from a strange number.' It was practically impossible to reach him through a mere phone call.

But she was not at all ready to break little Jimmy's heart. So she forced herself to call Mr. Xiao once more. No one answered again. The third time it was the same. Even the fourth time went unanswered.

Sophia was still patiently thinking of a way out when she realized that little Jimmy was getting angry because he could wait no more. He asked for the phone and said, "Let me try once mommy!"

Sophia smiled indulgently at him and handed over the phone.

As if by some telepathy Vincent Xiao answered the call. Maybe he was irritated by so many calls from the same number.

Even before Mr. Xiao could opened his mouth, Jimmy shouted in rage, "You deserve to stay single forever daddy!"

Mr. Xiao was rendered speechless.

Sophia, too did not know how to react. Sophia broke into a smile. She was amused at what such a little kid said to his father in anger. Was it some kind of secretive language between the son and father?

Sophia could not stop laughing as Jimmy continued on the phone, "Listen Vincent Xiao, listen to me very carefully. Mommy and I are waiting for you in HS Business District. If you don't come and get us right now, both your wife and child will go away with someone else!"
