Chapter 7 I Am Willing To Sacrifice My Life

The news of Johnson being in critical condition quickly spread. The minute Leona signed the waiver, the news spread like wildfire. As a result, JC Hospital was bombarded with guests wanting to visit Johnson.

The hall outside the emergency room was quickly filled with people. Everyone seemed to be thinking of the same thing—Johnson's estate was about to be divided up.

There was an odd tension in the air that neither seemed to be worry nor concern. It seemed that everyone in the hall was preoccupied with their own selfish thoughts.

"Uncle, Aunt..."

Lena was stunned upon seeing Sherman's parents. 'They're here too?'

Lena glanced at Leona who was sitting by the corner, seemingly isolating herself from everyone else and drowning herself in her sadness. Smiling slyly, she skipped to Vance and Carey as if she was just absolutely delighted to see them there. She took Carey's hand as she sat beside her and suddenly burst into tears. "I'm glad you're here. If you came just a little bit later, Sherman would have been beaten to death!" Lena said.

"What did you just say?" Carey was startled at the news. "Where's Sherman? What's going on? Who did it?" It didn't take long for Carey to notice the bruise at the corner of Sherman's mouth. He was by the stairs as he was on the phone.

"Well, it's Leona's fault. She seduced a number of men..."

Before Lena could finish her sentence, Carey had sprung to her feet and was already heading towards where Leona was. "Leona, can you explain to me what happened to Sherman's face?"

Upon hearing this, Leona frowned as she raised her head. At first, she looked flummoxed as to why Carey would suddenly ambush her like this. However, when she saw Lena standing behind Carey, smiling wryly, she immediately understood.

Looking resigned, Leona rubbed her eyebrows.

'Why can't Lena just stop making trouble?'

"Sherman..." Leona began. "He got hurt because he wanted to protect my sister!"

Hearing what Leona said, Carey turned to look at Lena in confusion.

"No, it's not like that." Lena shook her head. "In order to protect Leona, Caspar Qiao punched Sherman in the face!"

"Caspar Qiao..." Carey was visibly astonished as she bit back her tongue. "Is it the same Caspar Qiao from QT International Group?"

"Yes."

When Lena nodded her head, Carey was flabbergasted.

"I guess I should mention that Mr. Qiao was the one who refused to donate his bone marrow all because of Leona,"

Sherman said sarcastically as he glanced at his mother then at Leona.

Lena was overjoyed when Sherman backed her up. She smiled confidently as she continued arrogantly, "It was Mr. Qiao who refused to donate the bone marrow after he slept with Leona. Leona, this was the last thing I expected of you. You hurt Grandpa and you refused to cancel the engagement to Sherman even after everything you've done."

Leona coldly glanced at the gauze that was placed on Lena's forehead.

A chill ran down Lena's spine when she noticed this as she was brought back to the memory of Leona throwing a glass to her face.

"Sherman..." Lena quickly hid behind Sherman. "I'm scared."

Lena only came out when she was sure that Leona didn't have anything in her hands to throw at her. She looped her arm around Sherman's as she glanced at Leona. "Anyway, you'll never be happy because you'll be with a man who doesn't love you."

"You're wrong about that. I never wanted to get engaged to Sherman. If you want him, just take him for yourself then. If you're still interested in him, then why don't you behave yourself? You should wait until I hand him over to you first."

"Leona!"

Sherman roared.

'She thinks she can just hand me over to others like that? Like I'm some sort of item?

Who does she think she is?

Does she think she's the queen or something?'

"Leona, you've changed quite a bit."

The familiar voice came into Leona's ears. Before she could respond, Kaley Ding pulled Lena over from Sherman's side and slapped her across the face.

Lena's cheek was immediately reddened.

Kaley Ding clapped her hands together as she said,

"A woman like her with a dirty mouth should be beaten up." A crowd had gathered around them.

Everyone was suddenly choosing sides while Leona and Kaley Ding both had a fierce look on their faces.

Leona guarded Kaley Ding behind her as she glanced at the people who were about to take the opportunity to attack them, and said coldly, "Remember why you're here today. Whatever it is you're thinking of doing, stop it and get the hell out of here!"

Among all the people present, Leona was the weakest one. So when she exploded like that, everyone was utterly shocked that no one dared to say a word.

As time passed, the light above the emergency room was still lit up.

By the corner, Kaley Ding tried her best to calm the panicked Leona down. Every now and then, Kaley Ding could be heard either cursing Caspar for being ungrateful or soothing Leona down by saying that Johnson would be fine since he was a good man.

"Kaley..." It seemed that Leona could no longer bear the pressure and fear in her heart. She choked, "I'm really scared!"

Suddenly, the light above the emergency room went out. The doors opened as several doctors rushed out, pushing an old man in the gurney.

Leona was frozen in place as she was too scared to receive the news that she didn't want to hear.

To everyone's surprise, Johnson stirred in his bed as he raised his hand which was still attached to the intravenous drip and pointed it to the group of people who were against Leona.

He said weakly, "As long as I'm alive, no one touches my granddaughter!"

Leona could no longer hold back her tears. She hugged Kaley Ding and burst into tears, a huge smile of relief on her face. 'Grandpa finally made it through!'

Kaley Ding wiped the tears on Leona's face and rubbed her back. "I knew he would be fine!"

However, Leona sighed slightly.

Of course, Kaley Ding knew why Leona suddenly sighed. Thinking of Leona's current situation, she sighed to herself as well. "When I came here, I saw that QT International Group was holding a press conference about a new project." 'Caspar is the only hope to save Johnson.'

At QT International Group

The press conference was still going on when Leona arrived.

Countless of cameras surrounded Caspar and the beautiful woman that stood next to him.

This new project of QT International Group was a major project not only in Z City or even the whole province but the entire country.

Caspar was a rising talent in the business industry and highly revered by everyone while the beautiful woman was the rising hope of the ballet community. Technically, Caspar was her employer as the beautiful woman was just the spokesperson for the project.

As expected, gossip between the two dating and being involved immediately circulated since the two were quite attractive.

Leona helplessly looked around as she curled her lips and cleared her throat. "Caspar..."

Her voice was clear and distinct that she instantly attracted the attention of many.

"You slept with me the day before yesterday. Aren't you going to be responsible for your actions?" she asked.

Everyone immediately quieted down.

After a long and thick pause, reporters began to bombard Caspar with questions.

"Mr. Qiao, is what this lady said true?"

A bold reporter plucked up his courage to speak up.

The president of QT International Group had slept with an unknown woman without being accountable for his actions. This was definitely more exciting than the news of the new project and the rumors of the spokesperson and Caspar dating combined!

However, when Caspar eyed the reporter, the latter lowered his gaze in fear.

"Leona..." Gritting his teeth, Caspar strode off the stage, grabbed Leona's slender wrist and walked quickly towards his office. "You better come up with a reasonable punishment for this mess that you just created!"

"Caspar, I'm willing to sacrifice my life to save my grandpa!"
