Chapter 6 You Have No Right To Talk To Me

At the JC Hospital

Leona ran all the way to the emergency room. She was almost knocked over by passersby and medical trolleys several times but she didn't care.

'Grandpa will be fine.

God, I'm willing to trade anything I have for Grandpa's health! Please, don't take him away from me! Please!'

Leona prayed as she ran.

Outside the emergency room

"Wow, the flirt's here. You look good. Which..." 'Which man did you sleep with this time?'

Lena wasn't able to continue what she was going to say upon catching sight of Leona's sharp gaze. Despite her annoyance, her fear over Leona's piercing gaze prevailed.

Startled, her voice slowly trailed off.

'Grandpa is very important to Leona, even more so than her own life. I probably shouldn't provoke her right now,'

Lena told herself inwardly.

She then decided to behave herself.

To Lena's surprise, Leona suddenly blurted out,

"What are you doing here?"

She eyed Lena skeptically.

"Why wouldn't I be here? He's also my grandpa,"

Lena insisted as she evaded Leona's sharp and careful gaze. Leona knew very well what kind of person Lena was.

"You're lying," Leona said tentatively. "So are you trying to say that you didn't have anything to do with Grandpa suddenly being sent to the emergency room?"

'Is it just a coincidence? Lena seldom came over and the very day that she does, Grandpa suddenly gets sent to the emergency room? What's even more suspicious is that it happened after our fight last night!'

Hearing what Leona said, Lena snorted, "It seems that I can't hide anything about Grandpa from you! I didn't even do much. I just exchanged a few words with Grandpa. I told him how you slept with so many men and how you hurt Sherman in the process. Oh... I was afraid that Grandpa wouldn't believe me so I showed him the one million dollar check you tried to take back yesterday."

As Lena spoke, she sighed slightly. "Looks like our grandpa couldn't handle it. I've barely said anything when he passed out."

"Lena, you..."

Leona was seething.

Just as she was about to lose her temper, the door of the emergency room opened with a beeping sound. "Who's the family of Mr. Johnson Ling?"

Leona shot Lena a warning look before rushing towards the doctor. "Doctor, how's my grandpa?"

she asked. Only when she spoke did Leona realize that her voice was trembling. Fear and panic could also be detected in her tone.

"Miss Ling, I'm really sorry. We did our best. It depends on your grandpa himself now. If he can't make it through tonight..." The doctor paused and then handed a piece of paper to Leona. "This is the waiver. Please affix your signature on it, Miss Ling."

Leona refused to take the piece of paper.

The doctor looked momentarily bewildered.

Without warning, Leona sprinted towards Lena. "Lena, give me my grandpa back!"

"Sherman, look at her!"

Seeing that Leona rushed over, Lena hid behind Sherman and acted like an aggrieved victim.

Sherman liked the feeling of someone relying on him as it made him feel important.

"Leona!" Sherman snapped. "She's your sister!"

As Sherman spoke, he raised his hand in an attempt to slap Leona across the face.

Leona opened her eyes in surprise when she didn't feel anything. It seemed that someone had stopped Sherman.

"Can't you even protect yourself? Huh?"

The familiar masculine and pleasant voice came into her ears.

Leona froze.

'Am I dreaming?'

Leona turned around and saw Caspar standing behind her.

"It's you!"

Leona said, visibly stunned.

Upon hearing this, Caspar looked a little flustered—quite uncharacteristic for a man who was usually calm and stoic. Naturally, he calmed down a bit.

The meaningful exchange of glances between Leona and Caspar was not lost on Sherman.

'Interesting.

How interesting.'

Sherman's face darkened at once. He questioned Caspar in a cold voice, "Why are you meddling with my affairs?"

In contrast to the furious Sherman, Caspar was relaxed and unfazed.

"You're nothing but a worthless piece of scumbag. You have no right to talk to me!"

Caspar said coldly as he glanced at Sherman with disdain. He roughly shook off Sherman's hand without any hesitation at all. Leona thought she faintly heard Sherman crack his knuckles.

Caspar then took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped the hand that previous held Sherman's wrist with disgust on his face. After that he threw the handkerchief into the trash can aside.

Sherman was boiling inwardly as he watched this scene unfold. He couldn't show his anger so instead he glanced at Leona and said with a smile, "Wow, you're quite protective of Leona, aren't you? Do you also think she's good in bed?"

Caspar's heart ached when he heard Sherman say the word "also."

"Sherman, what nonsense are you talking about? Don't you need to be held responsible for what you just said?"

Leona was furious.

'I just told Caspar that Sherman and I weren't involved. What the hell is Sherman trying to do now?' she thought to herself in utter frustration.

"Of course, I just want to tell your lover—"

Sherman intended to say more.

However, before Sherman could finish what he was going to say, Caspar had punched him in the face.

"Caspar, you..."

Sherman wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth as he looked up only to find that Caspar was leaving already. He walked away without hesitance and with much nobility.

At the gate of the hospital

Leona followed closely behind Caspar and said, "Caspar, you agreed to save Grandpa! You agreed to save Grandpa, right?"

"No!" Caspar's tone seemed to be colder than before. "I just came to see if he was dead. Since he's still alive, I'm leaving."

"You..." Leona held back her anger. 'He's the only hope I have left. I can't offend him.' With this in mind, she softened her tone. "Caspar, I'm begging you. Please don't leave. Please save my grandpa! I can apologize to you."

"Apologize?"

Caspar suddenly stopped, and Leona, who followed closely behind, bumped into him.

Caspar reached out his hand

and blocked Leona consequently pushing her away from him, disgust written all over his face.

"Apologize for what? Apologize for lying to me? So are you admitting that you did lie to me?"

"No! I have never lied to you! I've never done that! Never!"

Leona was trying to defend herself.

However, she wasn't able to keep up with Caspar.

Discouraged, she went back to the door of the emergency room and signed the waiver. At that moment, she felt so desperate that she couldn't think of anything else besides her dire situation.
