Chapter 3 Forced To Get Married

Harris left in a hurry, so no one got the chance to stop him.

When his grandfather, Hogan Ning, heard that Harris was going to the Bei family, he got so enraged that he almost fainted. But he did his best to control his emotions that were about to explode and called Harris' father in. He let Harris' father come with him to follow Harris.

Belle now felt hopeless in front of her father.

Iris and Bess stood aside. They were having fun watching Belle's misfortune. And they were even adding fuel to the fire from time to time.

"Dad, I've already made myself clear to you. I'm not familiar with Harris. As a matter of fact, I've only met him less than five times."

Belle paused for a moment before she continued, "I care about the reputation of the Bei family. So, why would I hang out with him?"

"Then why did you come out of the same hotel together? And what about the child in your belly?" Adams pointed at Belle's belly disgustedly.

It took a while for Belle to respond. "I don't know what happened. But when I woke up, he was already there in my bed. Yes. The child in my belly is his," she admitted through clenched teeth.

Harris had taken her virginity. No other men had ever touched her. So she was one hundred percent sure that the child in her belly was his.

Adams was about to open his mouth to say something when a servant knocked and came in, saying Harris was here.

Upon hearing this, a hint of excitement flashed across Iris' and Bess' eyes.

Harris came just in time.

At the mention of Harris' name, Belle's face darkened in an instant. She turned around and walked out of the study in a hurry.

"Let's go have a look," Iris whispered to Bess excitedly.

With furrowed brows, Adams stood up and walked out of the study too. Iris and Bess followed enthusiastically.

As soon as Belle went downstairs, she saw a handsome man in their living room. But for her, he was such an eyesore.

"What are you doing here?" she snapped.

Harris turned around when he heard Belle's voice.

Subconsciously, his eyes went down to her belly, and he frowned.

With the way that Harris stared at her belly, Belle felt uncomfortable and awkward. "What are you looking at?"

"Are you really pregnant?" Harris asked. There was a trace of uncertainty in his voice. It was as if he was still hoping that it wasn't real.

Although Belle also hoped that everything was just a farce, she was not happy with his reaction at all.

"Yes. I am pregnant with your child," Belle replied. But she felt more uncomfortable saying those words.

Harris was about to say something, but Adams had already arrived downstairs.

"What are you doing in my house?"

With his hands clasped behind his back, Adams' eyes glared at Harris.

"I'm here to talk to Belle." Harris looked calm in front of Adams. He didn't show any sign of intimidation at all.

"Humph!" Adams sat on the sofa and crossed his legs. "Anyone from the Ning family is not welcome in my house."

Harris still looked calm. "I will never come here for no reason."

"You are here for Belle and your child, right? She just found out today that she is pregnant," Iris cut in. She hesitated for a moment before she continued, "I don't know what your plan is. But remember, the child is innocent."

"That's right. The baby is the most important here," Bess agreed. "Whatever your decision will be, you should think of the baby first."

The truth was, Iris and Belle had the same in mind.

Adams hated the Ning family so much. They thought if Belle married Harris, he would disown her. Eventually, everything that belonged to the Bei family would be theirs.

"Are you sure that Harris is the father of the baby in that woman's belly?" Hogan Ning's voice resounded through the living room. No one noticed that he was already there.

The servant behind him broke out into a cold sweat.

Adams stood up angrily. "What do you mean?"

To everyone's surprise, Belle walked up to Harris and grabbed his collar.

She pulled him to bend over and face her.

Harris was a very tall man.

But now, his face was so close to Belle that he could see her thick eyelashes and red lips clearly.

"Harris, you are so good-looking on the outside. But I didn't expect that you are such a coward," Belle said. She held his collar tighter and added, "How dare you deny what you've done! And you even refuse to accept that this child is yours?"

Harris stared at Belle's angry eyes. After a while, he said, "Of course, I admit that the baby in your belly is mine."

He didn't like Belle, and he hated the Bei family. But he believed that she wouldn't lie.

Hogan Ning had initially planned to make things difficult for the Bei family. But he didn't expect that Harris would be so upright. Now, his plan was ruined.

Belle looked at Harris' eyes for a while before she loosened her grip on his collar.

"I believe that you have also received the photos and the hospital records," Hogan Ning said. Since Harris had disrupted his plan, he wanted to settle the issue as soon as possible.

"Yes," Adams replied with a nod.

Then the two of them sat down at the same time.

Hogan Ning then said, "I don't have any idea who did this. But I'm sure that if other people know about this, both of our families will lose our dignity."

Adams agreed with a frown and said, "I don't know how you are going to solve this matter."

Hogan Ning glanced at Belle's belly and said, "Since Harris is the father of the baby, we will accept it. They should get married."

Hearing this, Iris and Bess were ecstatic.

But Belle and Harris disagreed in unison. "No way!"

"Who gave you the right to refuse?" Hogan Ning frowned. "You should learn to accept the consequences of your actions."

Adams weighed the pros and cons carefully. If Belle married Harris, a lot of issues between the Ning family and the Bei family would be settled. He didn't need to worry about people's questions and doubts anymore.

"Okay. I agree with that."

In the end, the two families discussed the wedding. No one listened to Harris' and Belle's oppositions.

The two of them could only sit down and listen quietly.

"Belle is already pregnant, so we should hold the wedding ceremony immediately. It's not good if people see her with a bulging belly during the wedding," Adams said. "Let's schedule it the soonest time possible," Hogan Ning agreed.

Adams nodded and said, "Let's have everything ready then."

They took this matter seriously. After all, the reputation of their families was at stake.

Because it was still early, Belle and Harris were ordered to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get their marriage certificates. Hogan Ning and the others stayed in the Bei family to discuss the details of the wedding.

Everything happened so fast that Belle felt like it was so surreal.

She turned to look at Harris, who was sitting next to her. "Harris, I really don't want to see you right now. If possible, stay out of my sight."
