Chapter 2 A Great Change

Belle stood in front of the hospital in a daze.

She stared at the result of the B-mode ultrasound in her hand blankly.

The result showed she was really pregnant.

No wonder she always felt uncomfortable, and her monthly period didn't come for two months.

Belle gave an exasperated sigh and looked up. "God, is this some kind of a joke?"

The strong sunlight hit her eyes, and she felt dizzy.

Not far away, a man was taking pictures of Belle. And after she left, he crossed the road and walked into the hospital.

Belle didn't know that the man bribed the doctor to get a copy of her hospital records. He made three copies of them. Together with the photos he had taken, he sent a copy to the Bei and Ning families each and kept one copy for himself.

A few hours later, Belle received a call from her father, asking her to go home immediately.

Belle hadn't come back home for a long time. So although she had lived in that house for many years, she felt strange standing in the living room now.

"Where is my father? Why did he suddenly ask me to come home?" Belle sat on the sofa that her mother used to sit on when she was still alive.

A hint of disgust and annoyance flashed through the eyes of Iris, Belle's stepmother, but she pretended to be chummy.

"Belle, you have not come home for a long time. Your father misses you so much."

Iris sat on the sofa with both hands on her knees. Her straight back made a silent indication of her position in the family.

"I don't want to hear your lies. Go straight to the point. I'm so busy right now. I still have other things to attend to." Belle had always been straightforward. If she didn't like someone or something, she showed it. No pretense.

"Belle, what's making you so busy? Maybe I can do something to help you, my dear sister." A crisp female voice was heard from the stairway.

Belle didn't need to look to see who it was. She already knew that it was Bess, her nominal sister.

"Where is my father?" she asked Iris again and ignored Bess Bei. "Why don't you just tell me where he is?"

"Your father?" A subtle expression appeared on Iris' face. There was also a trace of gloat in her eyes. "He is in the study. But if I were you, I'll go there a while later. He is in a fit of anger now."

Belle wondered why her father was angry.

Ignoring her stepmother's warning, she stood up and went upstairs to see him.

Iris and Bess watched her walking up the stairs. They then looked at each other gloatingly.

Belle knocked on the door of the study three times. She then pushed it open and came in without waiting for her father's response.

"Why did you ask me to come back?"

she asked coldly without even looking at him.

But she jolted the next second as

her father smashed a glass in front of her.

"How dare you ask me why I asked you to come back!" Adams Bei, Belle's father, pounded the table. "I'm going to lose face because of you!"

Staring at the pieces of broken glass on the floor, Belle felt that her heart also shattered.

She thought sadly, 'Isn't he afraid that the broken glass might cut me? He really doesn't care about me. It's all because he has a new daughter now. Although Bess is not his biological daughter, he loves that woman so much that he also loves her daughter more than me.'

"Dad, I don't understand what you're talking about. After all, this is my mother's home. Can't I come back just because of those shameless women live in here? You have already kicked me out of this house. How come that I embarrass you again?"

"You..." Adams Bei pounded the table again and stood up. His chest heaved in anger. "Who are you calling shameless? Who kicked you out of this house?"

This time, she looked up and met his eyes. She then sneered, "You and your new family drove me out."

She took a step forward and added slowly, "Dad, this is my mother's house. She worked hard for this all her life. But what did you do? You just gave it to your new wife without second thoughts."

The broken glass creaked under her feet. "This house is my mother's lifetime painstaking efforts."

After hearing what she said, his face turned pale. All the insulting words that he wanted to throw at her were stuck in his throat. He wanted to refute, but he was rendered speechless for a long time.

But after a few minutes of silence, his face flushed with anger again. He then shouted angrily, "What do you know? Who told you that this is your mother's house?"

"Humph!" Belle snorted coldly. She didn't feel comfortable facing her father now, so she said, "If you don't have anything else to say, I'll go now."

She then turned around and walked to the door.

But her father shouted, "Stop! What's going on between you and Harris Ning?"

Belle stopped and turned around in surprise. "How did you know?"

What she said only confirmed his suspicion. He got more furious. Feeling dizzy, he sank back in his chair.

"You are such an unfilial daughter. Tell me the truth. Are you really pregnant with his child now?

Belle's head went blank as her eyes widened in disbelief. She opened her mouth to say something, but she couldn't make a sound.

She only found out that she was pregnant a few hours ago. How could her father know?

Mixed emotions surged up in her heart. She didn't know what to do all of a sudden.

"Look at what you have done."

Adams Bei took out some photos and documents from his drawer and threw them to her. There were photos of her and Harris at the hotel. There were also some photos taken at the hospital, including her hospital records.

Belle clenched her fists and gritted her teeth. She didn't want to look at the photos again. "Who did this?"

At this moment, her stepmother opened the door and came in.

She came to his side and tried to appease him. "Don't be angry. These kids are young and active. It's normal for them to be careless."

Belle glared at her stepmother and asked, "Is it you?" She bit her lips to restrain herself from crying and continued, "You have already taken everything from my mother. And now you even frame me?"

"My mother has nothing to do with it." Bess Bei spoke from the door. They didn't notice that she also followed her mother in. "If you knew how to behave properly, you would have done this to humiliate us."

Belle was at a loss. 'If it wasn't Iris, could it be the Harris?' she thought inwardly.

Meanwhile, in the Ning residence

The atmosphere was worse than in the Bei family.

Harris also incurred his family's wrath because of the same photos and documents.

"We never interfered with your private life. But of all the women in the whole city, why do you have to choose Belle Bei?" Harris' grandfather was as furious as Belle's father. He even tore up all the photos and the copy of Belle's hospital records.

"Have you forgotten the grudge between our families? You are embarrassing us!"

Harris sat there quietly.

Although he didn't see the photos and documents, he already knew that they were substantial evidence. Otherwise, his father wouldn't be as enraged as right now.

"Nothing is going on between that woman and me," he denied at once.

"Nothing? His grandfather got more furious. "If nothing was going on between you two, how could she get pregnant? These photos are enough to prove it."

Harris himself didn't know who had taken the photos.

His eyes narrowed dangerously as he thought, 'Only Belle and I knew what happened.

I didn't tell anyone about it, so she is the only one who could cause this trouble.'

He suddenly stood up and grabbed his coat on the sofa. "I'm going to the Bei family."
