Chapter 6 Not A Family

"So, who is she?" A bitter smile flashed across Kevin's face.

When he got a better look at the video, his body had stiffened.

She was the famous Armani from the Xu family. She had her charm and wisdom. She boldly admitted to the media that her boyfriend cheated on her. What was more, Kevin had secretly admired her for a long time.

He knew Jacob wouldn't give a damn about her identity. After all, the Mo family was much richer than the Xu family.

Until now, he still questioned Jacob's sudden changes. After all, the latter had never been interested in women.

To be fair, Armani was not a typical woman. She didn't care about money or men.

'Surely, that girl is not something that Jacob could get by using money only, ' he concluded in his heart.

"That girl is Armani Xu from the Xu Group," Kevin said cautiously in front of Jacob. He was observing his expression.

Hearing what Kevin had said, Jacob thought of the dominant woman he had slept with last night. Indeed, she was the kind of girl who wouldn't let anyone control her. He wondered why she left a pile of money behind and escaped in a hurry in the early morning.

It was her first time. Why would she give her virginity to someone she didn't know?

"Did something happen to her?" Jacob curiously asked.

With a nod, Kevin handed the newspaper to him.

After taking it, Jacob read it and smiled.

Her fiance cheated on her with her half-sister, and they even defamed her. However, that woman showed no remorse nor misery. Instead, she was proud enough to tell the media that she didn't care about all this.

'I guess she got that drunk to vent her anger, ' he thought.

"Does she have feelings for that man?" Jacob looked at Kevin.

After pondering for a while, the latter answered, "I believe so. After all, they grew up together and got engaged long ago. Since her father died, she has been busy with the company's affairs. Not a lot of people can remain calm after going through so many difficulties."

At that moment, Kevin pitied Armani. A weak woman like her pretended to be fierce and arrogant to protect her sensitive and fragile heart.

When Kevin's expression changed, Jacob noticed it and said in an indifferent tone, "She's very cunning. Don't fall for her. Otherwise, you will suffer."

That comment offended Kevin. He didn't care whether she was smart or an idiot since he was not the one who slept with her last night.

He was more concerned about what Jacob would do next.

"Pour some more for me," Jacob told the tea expert after the latter stopped.

The expert continued to pour tea for him.

After turning on his computer, Jacob began his work. As such, Kevin decided to leave first.

'You're an interesting woman, Armani.' A hint of curiosity flashed in Jacob's eyes. Although he was looking at the computer screen, his mind was somewhere else.

All he wanted last night was to leisurely hang around in Kevin's bar. He never expected that someone would seduce him out of nowhere.

After their passionate night, he saw the money on the table. Of course, Jacob felt offended. However, he also found the situation to be funny. He suddenly became an escort in one night. Moreover, the woman was so high class that she gave him a hefty tip.

Since she seemed generous, Jacob decided to give her another service.

Meanwhile, instead of going to the company, Armani stayed home for the whole day. Everyone expected her to receive the executive director position. Most of the shareholders in the company were the founding members and acquaintances of her father. As such, they were willing to support her in running the Xu Group.

After a whole day's rest, Armani told Mary, "I already sent the materials for the shareholders' meeting tomorrow to your mailbox. Please sort them out and prepare fifty copies. Then, deliver them to the shareholders in advance."

Immediately, Mary started her preparations.

As Armani leaned against her bed, there was a knock on the door.

She frowned as she already said no one should disturb her.

"Who's there?" she asked in a cold tone.

"Hello, Armani. It's me," said a man in a gentle and hoarse tone.

Armani turned off her computer and stood up when she heard him. She wore her coat and walked to the door and opened it. Her eyes turned cold knowing who it was. When she opened the door, she saw Ben together with her sister waiting outside. Jessie happily held the man's hand and said, "Sister, Ben came here to see Mom and me. Also, he wanted to see you too because you made him worried last night when you didn't come back home." Armani was just looking at them.

As soon as Jessie finished her words, she sighed and turned to Ben. "Look, she's fine. You don't have to worry about her."

'They indeed look like a perfect match, ' Armani thought as she stared at the two of them before her. The man who had been standing beside her for a long time was now in love with another woman.

"Armani, I hope our past will not affect our relationship when we become a family." Ben offered a friendly smile to her. He said it in a gentle voice as if he was explaining to someone who wanted his love but he could never give it back.

Edith came up and Armani smirked at Ben. "I have my own family and I don't need another one. When you two get married, Jessie will be your family but it doesn't mean that I will too. Remember this, we will never be a family."

Edith scowled at her and complained, "Armani, what are you talking about? Ben is our guest, could you please respect him and treat him right? Our family has been good friends with them for so long, so of course, the Xu and Ming families would be a family eventually when they get married."

The Xu family and Ming family had always been on good terms. However, only the simple mind of Edith could believe that.

Armani was not in the mood to talk with them so she retreated herself and walked back to her room.

Xu Group and Ming Group were engaged in the business of real estate development for years. There were times when both of them would work together in building facilities of a residential quarter. However, being in the same field could also make a negative effect on both parties. In most situations, they couldn't get a win-win result. So, they also competed with each other.
