Chapter 10 He Knew It Clearly

Armani got in the car and grabbed the steering wheel. Her fingers were sweating and shaking wildly. She was driven mad by Ben's ruthless words. She took a few deep breaths to calm herself down even as angry tears flowed down her cheeks. After a while, she called Mary and asked her to make a statement of clarification on her public account.

With one last sigh, she turned the key in the ignition and sped to DS Nightclub.

She found the place almost deserted as it was still day. A handful of customers occupied some corner tables, a couple of them singing on the stage.

Kevin was in his office on the second floor, reading a document. His assistant came in and announced, "Mr. Cui, a lady has come to see you."

"Who is it?" asked Kevin, his eyebrows arched. Kevin was a charming, easy-going guy with a large friend circle. Any of them could be visiting him. He couldn't guess.

"Her name is Armani Xu. She insists on seeing you urgently."

Kevin was stunned. 'What does Armani need to see me for?'

"Bring her here." He had no reason to refuse seeing her.

When Armani came, she looked around the office skeptically. "Are you the boss here?" she asked.

Her face looked drained. Her eyes were red, and her tone was snarky and unfriendly.

'Has she come to blame me because of Jacob?' Kevin wondered. Any woman who spent a night with Jacob was usually very happy. It seemed that that wasn't the case with Armani.

Kevin had no idea what had happened between the two but he knew Jacob's temperament and charm well. Had Armani asked him to rebuild Xu Group for her, he'd have done it in an instant.

He wasn't the kind of person who'd be stingy with women, even those he spent only one night with.

"Yes, Miss Xu. Please have a seat. Would you like a drink?"

Kevin said gently, adjusting nervously in his chair.

Kevin had spotted her many times from a distance in this very bar. He had watched her sing in a box with K on multiple occasions, but could never summon the courage to talk to her or get close to her. He had never expected that when the two of them would finally be sitting in a room face to face, she would already have slept with his best friend, who he couldn't compete with at all.

Kevin felt his heart crushing as he looked at her sad face.

"No, I'm good. Let me get to the point. You have been in this industry for a long time, you must have some basic professional ethics. You know that I am a regular customer. How could you do such a thing to me? Now can you afford to compensate for my reputation and my loss?" Armani said quickly, angrily.

Kevin was confused. Kindly, he replied, "Miss Xu, I don't understand. You seem very angry but I don't know what you are talking about. Can you tell me what I did wrongly? I will do my best to correct my mistake."

Armani could feel he was genuinely confused.

But whether he was aware of it or not was on him, not her. It was his club, after all.

Armani let out a frustrated sigh and explained, "Private CCTV footage of me coming here was released to the media. Now the entire city is talking about it!"

The entire city was aware of the news, yet this man in front of her didn't know why she was here.

Kevin was shocked. He stood up at once.

Who had permitted his staff to expose the video?

Kevin set all the rules of the club. Whatever happened in the club and whoever entered the club was all confidential information. Clients like Armani, especially, were treated with utmost care in this regard.

"I am so sorry, but I don't know anything about this. I will go and look into it right away. You may go back. I will call you as soon as I find out who did this." Kevin looked at her intently, apologetically.

"What will you do? Make a scapegoat out of a man from all the money you got from Ming Group?"

"Miss Xu." Kevin called out her name gently. "I'm not such a person."

He would never do such a shameful thing. In the past, because he liked her, he secretly gave her free drinks and food. It was all a harmless attempt to express his love for her.

"Armani." A voice came as someone pushed open the door. It was K.

Kevin heaved a sigh of relief upon seeing him. He took a few steps forward and grabbed his arm. "K, she suspects me."

K was the man who always served Armani in the club. He knew what Kevin was talking about. Quickly, he said, "Armani, you must be mistaken. Boss would never do such a thing. Even when it comes to ordinary customers, he takes full caution. Besides, he is not the only who has access to the CCTV footage. It's likely one of our subordinates has fished the video out. Give us some time, we will find it out."

Armani knew K's moral compass. His word was reassuring to her. With a frown on her face, she replied in a calmer tone, "Okay, then. I'll be waiting for an answer." She turned around to leave. K rushed to follow her but she was walking so fast he could not catch up.

Letting her go, he came back in the office. He rested his hands on the table and looked at Kevin with a guilty expression. "Boss, I think I have committed a big crime."

"What's wrong?" Kevin asked, worried. He was surprised that K was saying that. Was he involved in leaking her video?

"That night, Armani demanded to see some men for her pleasure.

I knew she was hurting so I found some men for her and warned them not to go further than just talking to her. When I went back with them, she was gone. She didn't answer my phone. I thought she had gone home, but I didn't know that someone took her. I don't know which bastard slept with her. If I knew, I would tear him apart!" K punched the table in rage, feeling helpless.

Kevin didn't know what to say. He let out a wry smile.

He couldn't tell K that the man he was talking of ripping apart was the young master of H.S Group. The list of his assets could not be read even in one whole day. Besides, he was someone who could help Armani solve all her difficulties.

"Go and continue with your work. I'll look into it right away."

Kevin patted K's shoulder and asked him to leave.

Once K left, he himself went downstairs and drove to the most famous private club of QM City.

Inside the club, the air smelled like plums. Vases with plum blossoms were kept in every corner.

It was the month of May. These plum blossoms were specially grown in the room. Each of these special plum blossoms were worth more than ten thousand.

But the whole bunch of plum blossoms were inserted in a casual way.

Just because the man in front of her said the tea would taste better if he could smell the fragrance of plum blossoms, her boss took the effort to get a bunch of plum blossoms.

The cost of these blossoms was equal to her two months' salary. And for these rich, elite people, it was only a decoration.

While she was pouring the tea, the door suddenly opened. The tea expert got stunned with the sudden sound. The area was a highly private one. Who had dared to be so bold so as to enter so recklessly? Her hand trembled, a few drops of water fell out of the cup onto the bamboo table. She looked up to see the man staring at her with narrow eyes, as if he was disappointed in her.

The tea expert bowed her head and apologized.

"Stop it. You have been making the tea for a long time.

You are tired," said Jacob casually.

The tea expert looked at him for a split second. Without a change in expression, she left.

Kevin walked to Jacob and spoke quickly, "You know about the video leakage, don't you? And still you chose not to interfere?"
