Chapter 8 Announce The Engagement

The servant was there to help with Joyce. It took a whole afternoon for the servant to know what Joyce was doing. When the cake was finished, the servant finally remembered that today was the birthday of Leo. It was really a hard day for Joyce to make a cake herself.

"Help me put the cake in the refrigerator. I still need to cook two more dishes. And when he comes back at night, I will give him a surprise! And make fun of him at the same time. He mistook my brother for a rival in love. Ha ha. " Joyce said excitedly.

As time passed, Joyce was sitting beside the dining table and waiting for Leo to come home. She glanced at the cakes and dishes on the table, hesitated for a moment, looked at the servant and asked, "Is it possible that he won't come back tonight?"

"Miss Joyce, do you want to call him?" The servant answered.

"No, no, that's not a surprise. It's okay. I can wait for him as I watch TV!"

She grabbed the remote control and turned on the TV.

The entertainment news was just on TV, and the name of Leo Xu came into her eyes. She rubbed her eyes and stared blankly at the news.

"The CEO of the Star Group, Leo Xu, has announced his engagement with his fiancee, Addison Jiang, the eldest daughter of Jiang Group. ]

On TV, Leo Xu looked handsome who was dressed in a black suit. He was standing next to Addison Jiang, a graceful woman, who held his hand like a timid little bird. They looked like a couple.

"They are a perfect couple not only in appearance but also in family background."

Joyce looked at the TV and murmured with self-mockery. She didn't realize that the tears had fallen down along her cheeks. The dull pain from the heart made her difficult to breathe. The tears fell down uncontrollably.

Looking up at the table full of dishes and the birthday cake made by herself, Joyce suddenly felt ridiculous. 'How could I still dream of living with him for a long time? This reunion was supposed to be a joke. If I had missed him again at the party, this wouldn't have happened.'

Joyce stood up and walked out of the dining room, absent-minded. She walked towards her room. It should be the time for her to leave now.

"Miss Joyce..." The servant looked at her back with a touch of sadness. She wanted to say something, but hesitated.

In the cold villa, the dim light illuminated every corner of the house. Joyce felt that the distance between the dining room and the bedroom was even further.

The scene of the engagement of Leo Xu and Addison Jiang kept flashing through her mind. Tears streamed down her cheeks and fell on the carpet along the corridor. They used to be a couple that was enviable. Now things had changed.

Joyce was lost in her thought and suddenly stopped. She didn't expect herself to walk to the door of Leo's bedroom unconsciously.

She gently pushed the bedroom door and turned on the light. The room was well placed and the air was full of sunshine.

At the moment when the TV news broadcasted, it was doomed that she was a joke. She, Joyce Ruan, was only a plaything abandoned by Leo.

Having made up her mind secretly, Joyce wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes and rushed out of the bedroom to her own room.

The only thing she wanted to do at the moment was to leave this place as soon as possible before Leo came back. She had hurt herself twice.

Joyce quickly packed up her luggage. Under the bitter moonlight, her delicate figure became more pitiful.

"Knock, knock, knock." All of a sudden, she heard someone knocking on the door. She took a few steps back and her heart beat very fast. Her voice trembled slightly. She grasped the handle of the suitcase tightly with fear and unease in her eyes.

"Who?" Because of nervousness, Joyce's voice changed. It could be seen that the sudden knock on the door really frightened her.

"Miss Joyce, it's me."

Hearing the butler's voice, Joyce heaved a long sigh of relief and rested her heart in her stomach.

"The butler? What's the matter? " With these words, Joyce walked forward and opened the door.

The butler smiled and said respectfully, "Miss Joyce, the dishes are cold. Shall we heat them up?"

"No, thanks." Joyce replied in a low voice, her eyes filled with despair.

The butler took a look at the room and then at the floor. Joyce's luggage was neatly packed and he asked nervously, "Miss Joyce, what are you doing here?"

"Go home." Joyce said coldly. She turned around and was about to leave the bedroom with her luggage. But when she turned around, the butler blocked her way.

Seeing Joyce's cold face, the butler said carefully, "Miss Joyce, Mr. Leo hasn't come back yet. Do you want to..."

"No, thanks." Before the butler could finish his words, Joyce turned around and left the villa.

In the dark night, in the cold moonlight, the wind rustled the leaves, and Joyce was shivering with cold in her thin clothes.

Everything was over. Joyce told herself silently, but her tears fell down from her eyes.

After dragging her luggage for a long time, Joyce finally hailed a taxi.

Thinking that she could see her little brother again, Joyce smiled bitterly.

As a matter of fact, her brother was the emotional anchor of her life. Being fooled and hurt again, she no longer believed in anyone else, and her only relative was her brother, Mason.

There was a luxuriously decorated hotel and the lights were shining. Tracy Feng had specially prepared the engagement party for them.

Almost all the guests had left. Leo frowned to take a look at Addison beside him and an awkward smile played on his lips. He put down the glass silently.

"Leo, we're engaged. How about tonight..." Addison came to Leo and said in such a delicate voice.

Before she finished her words, Leo answered perfunctorily with a frown, "there is a meeting tomorrow morning. I have to go."

Before she could react, Leo had said goodbye to his mother and left the party.

Looking at the back of Leo, Addison was inevitably a little upset. But when she remembered that she had been engaged with him, she felt that such an excellent man would only belong to her!

'The coming days would be long. I will find another chance to make up with him.' she thought.

"Mr. Leo, where are we going?"

"To the villa." After a while, he said in an indifferent tone.

The bright moonlight was cold. The car drove through the bustling streets and stopped in front of the villa.

Seeing the brightly lit villa, Leo was complacent.

"Mr. Leo is back." When the servant saw Leo, she walked up to him and said with respect. She took the things in his hand carefully.
