Chapter 10 No morning kisses.

Chapter 10

~ Mirella's POV ~

I stared at the ceiling with weak eyes, wishing I didn't wake up this morning.

The plan was to stay up all night to make sure he couldn't carry his new bride outside with dark puffy spots under her eyes, but the stress from the elaborate wedding made that impossible.

The soft queen size bed did not help matters either.

I clenched my jaw as I watched the sun rise so gracefully. I hated everything looked so perfect to me, yet so fake.

I lived a miserable life back at my father's pack, but at least it was real.

No fake marriages...

No fake husband...

No false promises of morning kisses...

Not like I wanted him to come kiss me anyway.

I tried to take a deep breath, only to realize I still had the Kaelen's scent stuck in my sinus. Now I couldn't even breathe properly because his scent forced flashes of steamy moment between us last night.

I let out a groan of misery, not understanding how someone could still traumatize me without being present.

Making a mental vow not to let him get a hold on me like that ever again, I dragged myself from the bed and had a shower. I picked the small worn-out bag my stepmom sent as her last gift, containing a few of my possessions and picked a gown to wear.

I walked out of my room and got downstairs to see a maid setting the plates for the breakfast she served at the dining table.

"Good morning, my Luna", she bowed immediately she saw.

For someone who'd been a maid all her life, that was something I would never get used to.

"Alpha Kaelen is in a very important meeting, but he ordered to let you know you should have something to eat when you come down. He's going to join you very soon."

I stared at the table with contempt, even though my tummy was rumbling in hunger from not eating dinner last night. Meals I didn't even know existed sat on the table, filling my nose with all kinds of irresistible aromas.

But I wasn't going to fall for Kaelen's antics.

I swallowed my spit and began walking away.

"My Luna, where are you heading to, if I may ask?"

I stopped and turned. "If I'm really your Luna, then you shouldn't be asking where I'm going. But if you must know, I'm not going to give Kaelen the chance to poison me. I'm going to find something to eat outside the palace."

"My Luna! I swear that it's not his intention to-"

I slammed the door before she could finish and headed out.

I walked to the gates and ignored the guards, but they didn't ignore me when I made an attempt to leave.

"Why are you stopping me?", I questioned when one of them came in between me and the gate.

"I'm sorry, my Luna, but Alpha Kaelen specifically ordered not to let you leave the premises of the palace except he's leaving with you. He doesn't want you to get overwhelmed by the pack members who are more than eager to see you."

I scoffed.

Did he really lock me in this prison with a flimsy lie as an excuse? He didn't care that I was overwhelmed. He just didn't want his secret exposed to his pack members.

"This is bullshit", I grumbled under my breath and headed back to the palace. I almost got lost in this complex palace, but I finally found the throne room.

"Good morning, my Luna", the guards immediately greeted when they saw me. "Did you have a-"

"Keep your greetings to yourself. Let me in."

"I'm sorry, my Luna, but he's in a very important meeting right now. He'll be done very soon, so-"

I walked past them, ignored their pleas since they couldn't actually stop the Luna, and burst through the doors.

The only plan I had in my head was to scream the whole place down until he let me out, but the solemnity of the room forced me to grow mute.

I had everyone's attention on me, and my eyes scanned for Kaelen.

There he was, seated elegantly on his throne. The beams of sunlight from the large windows shined against the crown and made his eyes glitter dreamily.

I planned to give him a big piece of my mind and probably expose him to his royal cabinet in case they didn't know what was going on, but a gaze from those blue eyes made my brain blank and tongue numb.

"Long live the Luna", men twice my age bowed to me in reverence.

I nervously smiled and waved lightly to them, hoping the Moon Goddess would cause the ground to open up and swallow me whole.

"My Luna", Gaius broke the silence. "You barged in here with such urgency. Is there something wrong?"

I could tell from their eyes that I wasn't supposed to be here.

"I... Uhm... I actually wanted to-"

"I'm sure she was missing her husband", Kaelen's voice immediately echoed throughout the room. "Come, my queen. Come and sit on your throne."

I couldn't run away now, so I had no choice but to put one leg in front of the other until I stood in front of him.

He slowly turned me around and made me sit on his lap.

"I know you're mad at me, my queen. I shouldn't be sneaking out of bed to have meetings like this, especially what we had last night."

I saw the elders smile and nod between themselves.

"... I apologize for attending to work when we should be enjoying our honeymoon, baby. I promise I'll make it up to you. Am I forgiven?"

"I... I wasn't really mad at you", I muttered. "I just needed to...", I found it impossible to finish my sentence due to the soft kisses he slowly began placing on my arm.

I was supposed to be irritated at his ability to hide his ruthlessness with the soft, perfect character he portrayed, but I was getting lost in his touch.

"I should tell you couples to go find a room, but I think it's a better idea if we leave", Gaius teased and everyone else jokingly agreed.

I felt something begin to grow under my ass cheeks. I began to panic, knowing that if the elders left me alone with him, I was done for.
