Chapter 1 Have to marry him

Chapter 1 || Have to Marry Him

The room was a total mess. The sheets and pillows were all over the place, even the stuffing from one of the pillows scattered everywhere.

On the vanity, a broken mirror lay in pieces. And all of that was because of a young woman now sitting on the edge of the bed, crying her heart out.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

A loud, panicked knock came from outside the door.

"Xyla, please come out, sweetheart! Listen to what Daddy has to say first!" a middle-aged man's voice begged from the other side of the door.

That man in a wheelchair was Sammy Sinclair.

"No! I won't open the door unless you let me marry Damian!" Xyla shouted, stubbornly.

Xyla Sinclair, a beautiful young woman about to turn 22, was arguing with her dad who strongly refused her choice of husband.

She was selfish, only caring about herself. And because of that decision, she was about to taste the bitterness of life.

"If you don't agree, then fine! I'll just kill myself!" Xyla screamed, her voice breaking.

Hearing that, Sammy froze in fear, terrified that his only daughter might actually do something crazy.

Xyla was already holding a small knife in her hand.

"Daddy thinks I'm joking, huh?!" she threatened.

"Alright, alright... I'll let you marry Damian," Sammy finally gave in, his voice weak, surrendering to his daughter's demand.

Creak

The door opened, revealing Xyla with messy hair and a pale face from not eating for three whole days, ever since Sammy had rejected Damian as her future husband.

"Thank you, Daddy!" Xyla cried happily, hugging him tightly.

"You're welcome, sweetheart," Sammy replied softly.

Losing his wife was already painful enough for him. He couldn't bear the thought of losing Xyla too.

"But for now, we should eat first," Sammy coaxed her gently.

"Okay, boss!" Xyla replied playfully.

What's so special about that man, Xyla? You starved yourself for three days just for him? Sammy thought with a heavy heart.

A month later, Xyla and Damian finally got married. Sammy paid for everything.

He was the CEO of a well-established electronics company passed down through generations. Not to mention his vast plantations and other assets overseas.

Xyla looked stunning in her ivory wedding gown. Damian, equally striking, wore a matching white tuxedo.

Together, they stood on the stage, greeting guests with smiles. Seeing his daughter so happy made Sammy feel relieved.

"Sir, don't you think this decision was a bit reckless? Letting Xyla marry a poor man like him?" asked Alex, a young lawyer of the Sinclair family.

"As long as my daughter is happy, I don't care. She's the only one I have left. I just hope her husband will be a good leader for their family. Money's not a problem-we can help them," Sammy answered calmly.

"You're right, Sir," Alex said, though still doubtful.

Meanwhile, a group of flashy women approached Damian's mother, Rose.

"Oh wow, congrats! You've got yourself a rich daughter-in-law now!" one of them said mockingly, eyeing the luxurious wedding decorations.

Rose smiled shyly, though deep inside, she was proud.

"Yeah, you're really lucky. You know how rich the Sinclairs are," another chimed in with a smug tone.

"I'm jealous. Now you can buy branded stuff easily," a chubby woman in glasses teased.

"I don't care about that. As long as she truly loves my son, that's all that matters to me," Rose replied simply.

"Ugh, boring answer!" the chubby woman rolled her eyes.

The ceremony ended, and it was time for Xyla and Damian to leave in a brand-new sports car-Sammy's wedding gift.

"Congrats on your marriage, sweetheart," Sammy said, kissing his daughter's forehead.

"Thank you, Daddy," Xyla hugged him tightly.

"Please take good care of her, Damian," Sammy said, patting his son-in-law's shoulders firmly.

"Of course, Daddy. I'll protect Xyla with all my heart. I'd never waste a woman like her," Damian promised.

Sammy's eyes welled up as he hugged Damian briefly. "I'll hold onto that promise, Damian," he whispered.

Soon, the car sped away, leaving the cheering guests behind.

They checked into a 5-star hotel before heading off on their honeymoon trip.

The hotel room door opened, revealing a romantic setup-rose petals on the bed spelling out Love, and a breathtaking view of the beach at night.

"Please come in, my princess," Damian said sweetly, holding Xyla's hand.

Xyla blushed at his gesture. Without warning, Damian carried her bridal-style, laying her gently on the rose-covered bed.

"Who prepared all this?" Xyla asked curiously.

"Who else? Definitely not me. Since when did I come here before?" Damian teased.

"You're so annoying!" Xyla giggled, kissing his lips briefly.

"What? Being annoying to my own wife is allowed, right?" Damian smirked, kissing her back.

He stroked her cheek, kissing her softly. The kiss deepened, his fingers already reaching for the zipper of her gown.

His lips traveled from her mouth to her neck. Clothes were tossed aside, and he pulled the blanket over them.

"Now?" Damian whispered breathlessly.

Xyla only nodded. Damian kissed her forehead and continued.

That night became their first blissful memory as husband and wife.

"Thank you, love," Damian whispered, holding her close, kissing her bare shoulder.

No response.

When he peeked at her face, he chuckled. "Seriously? You already fell asleep?" he murmured softly, seeing Xyla fast asleep in his arms.

Damian slowly sat up, rubbing his eyes before glancing at Xyla who was still fast asleep.

He leaned closer, letting his fingers trace her cheek lightly. Her skin was soft, her lashes long, brows perfectly shaped, and those lips-red and tempting even without any lipstick.

Damn... if only we had met earlier, maybe I really would've fallen for you, Xyla, he thought.

But seriously... are you just dumb, or plain naïve? he sneered inside his head.

He stood up and walked toward the balcony. The night breeze hit him, playing with his hair as he took a deep breath.

"My plan's going smooth... just thirty percent left," he whispered to himself with a crooked smile.

Then, his phone buzzed. The screen lit up, showing the caller's name.
