"Uh... yeah," Rose answered short.
"It looks great on you, Ma. Really suits you," Xyla smiled.
To break the silence, Damian suddenly grabbed a slice of pizza and held it in front of Xyla.
"Come on, say ahhh..."
"Damian, stop! Mama's right here," Xyla laughed nervously, glancing at Rose.
"Oh please, don't mind me. I used to be young too," Rose smirked and carried a few slices to the living room.
Damian waved the slice closer. "Aaaah..."
Xyla rolled her eyes but still opened her mouth.
"That's my smart wife," he praised, patting her head.
"This is your fault, now Mama left!" Xyla teased.
"Relax, babe. I got this."
Out of nowhere, Xyla's eyes lit up. "Hey, how about we go on a trip tomorrow?"
Damian perked up immediately. "A trip? But aren't you busy with work?"
"Well... I got something important to tell you," she said seriously.
Damian leaned closer, curious.
"I handed over the CEO position... to Louis."
"What?!" Damian's jaw clenched as his hand slammed the table.
Xyla flinched at his sudden reaction.
"What's wrong? You mad at me?"
"No, no. A... ant bit my foot. That's why I overreacted, hehe..." Damian lied through his teeth. Inside, he was boiling. How the hell could Louis take that position?
"Daddy said it's time for us to focus on having a kid. That's why Louis is running the company now," Xyla explained while munching her pizza again.
Damian stayed quiet, fists tight under the table.
"You're so quiet... what's wrong?"
"Nothing, babe. I'm just... touched. Daddy really cares about us. And honestly, I've always wanted to have a kid with you."
Xyla held his hand. "Sorry, I still haven't been able to give you a child..." she whispered.
"Don't say that. It's not your fault. You're Daddy's only daughter, of course it's your duty to take over the company."
"If only you had a degree, Damian... you'd be the one running Daddy's company now," Xyla sighed.
Damian thought hard for a moment. Running the company...
"What if I start college after our trip?" he suddenly said.
"College? You want to study?" Xyla blinked.
"Yeah. So you won't be the only one working so hard. Let me take care of it. You just be my wife and the mom of our future kids," Damian smiled, trying to sound convincing.
"Thank you, babe..." Xyla felt relieved. She really wanted to let go of the stress from the company.

A few days later.
Damian caught Rose messing with one of Xyla's antique jars in the glass cabinet. He rushed over and pulled her hand away.
"Mama, stop that!" he hissed.
"What are you talking about, Damian? I don't get it..." Rose faked innocence.
"Don't play dumb. Those new clothes you wear... they came from selling Xyla's antiques, didn't they?"
Rose just smirked.
"Come on, I just want some nice clothes too. Your salary isn't enough. And your wife's so stingy, she rarely buys me anything," she pouted.
Damian hated seeing her like that, but this was too much.
"Ma, if Xyla finds out, this'll be bad," he warned in a low voice.
"Bad? What's bad about it?! I've been waiting a year for your plan to work, and nothing's happening!" Rose snapped.
Damian squeezed her hand. "Relax, soon we'll take over Xyla's fortune. You know I don't love her. I only love her money. That's why I gotta give Sammy a grandchild-so I can control the company."
"Until when?! Look at your wife, she's not even pregnant. Maybe she's barren! ... Or maybe you should just find another target."
"Be patient, Ma. The problem is... Sammy gave the CEO seat to Louis instead of Xyla."
"What?!" Rose's eyes went wide.
"What are you guys talking about?" a voice suddenly came from the stairs.
Both Damian and Rose froze. Xyla was standing there. Did she hear them? Damian panicked.
"It's nothing, babe. Mama just got scared 'cause a rat ran by. Right, Ma?" Damian gave her a sharp look.
"Y-yeah, Xyla. Just a rat. Hehe..." Rose nodded quickly.
"A rat? In this house? How could that be?" Xyla frowned.
"Don't worry about it. We'll call pest control tomorrow," Damian said quickly, pulling Xyla away from the scene.
Rose clutched her chest, relieved. She glanced back at the cabinet...
"One more won't hurt," she muttered, slipping a small antique cup into her pocket before walking off.
---
Later in the kitchen, Xyla was busy cooking while Damian sat watching her.
"So, when are we leaving for our trip?" Damian asked.
"This evening," Xyla replied.
"Before we go, can I buy some new clothes? All my old ones suck."
"Of course, babe. My money is your money, and yours is mine," she said softly.
Damian stared at her long and hard. You're perfect, Xyla. So why can't I love you for real?
"Why are you staring at me like that?"
"I just don't get it. Why would someone like Xyla Sinclair marry a guy like me?"
"Damian!" Xyla pouted playfully. "This is like the hundredth time you've said that."
"Sorry... I still can't believe it sometimes," Damian chuckled.
Xyla walked up to him. "I married you 'cause I love you, period." She kissed him quickly.
"You teasing me, huh..." Damian smirked as heat started rising.
"Catch me if you can!" Xyla laughed and ran off.
"You're asking for it!" He chased her around the house until he caught her in his arms, kissing her neck until she squealed.
"Damian! My cooking's burning!" she panicked.
"Let it burn. I just want you like this," he whispered against her skin.
She rushed back to the stove, but Damian shut it off and kissed her hard, his lips moving down her neck, leaving her breathless.
"Damian!" she yelped as he lifted her onto the dining table, ignoring her protests.
"Not here!" she tried to push him away, but he was stronger.
Minutes later, both of them lay there exhausted. Xyla buttoned up her shirt, cheeks flushed.
"How was it? Better on the dining table?" Damian grinned wickedly, fixing his jeans.
"Ugh, gross! Now I gotta scrub this table with dish soap!" she whined.
Damian kissed her again quickly. "I'll help you clean up."
"Smooth talker~"
"Anything to stop you from being mad," he chuckled, hugging her from behind.
"How many kids do you want, babe?" he asked.
"Hundreds," Xyla answered randomly.
"Kyaa!" she squealed as Damian suddenly scooped her up.
"Then let's make some more right now!" he shouted, carrying her out of the kitchen.
"Noooo!!!" Xyla half-screamed, half-laughed.
