Chapter 1

Today marked our bonding anniversary, yet my Alpha, Eduardo Clark, still hadn't come home.

As I gazed at the meticulously prepared dinner on the table, I clutched my stomach in nervous anticipation.

Even though my skin felt slightly swollen from the repeated motion, I didn't stop.

It was past midnight when Eduardo finally returned.

I didn't question where he had been. Instead, I greeted him with a smile and invited him to sit down.

His movements paused for a moment when he saw the dinner, different from usual.

I served him dinner, but he only took a few bites before setting down his knife and fork.

"I've already eaten. You enjoy it yourself."

I brought out a gift box containing a pregnancy test.

Finding out I was pregnant on our bonding anniversary was a gift from the Moon Goddess.

With trembling fingers, I looked at him full of anticipation.

Our relationship had become increasingly strained, and perhaps the arrival of cubs could ease things a bit.

Eduardo looked at me, puzzled.

His gaze landed on the gift box, and he reached out to take it.

But just as he was about to touch the box, his phone rang.

"Eduardo, can you come keep me company?"

It was a woman's voice.

That familiar voice-I knew immediately who she was.

It was Eduardo's first love, Paulina Jones.

His tone was gentle yet urgent, "Where are you?"

He completely ignored me and turned to walk out onto the balcony.

Watching his hurried back, my heart gradually sank.

The phone's volume was very low, but I could still hear their conversation.

"You were too forceful in bed this morning. It hurt me. I'm really upset now. Can you leave your Luna and come to me instead? If it weren't for her back then, I would be your Luna now."

Eduardo stood on the balcony, his back to me, fingers subconsciously stroking the edge of his phone.

I held my breath, but I was still unable to make out his response.

But the indulgent smile on his face made the wolf inside me howl in despair.

My mate had cheated on me.

The wolf within me knew this very well.

I clenched the gift box containing the pregnancy test, my nails nearly digging into my palm.

The spasm in my stomach made me snap back to reality.

Just as I was about to look away, my eyes met Eduardo's.

I said nothing, just looked up at him, my gaze filled with hope.

I hoped he would reject that woman.

But reality was destined to disappoint me.

He avoided my gaze and murmured, "You should rest early. I need to go out for a bit."

I froze.

Eduardo didn't even glance at me, nor did he take the gift box from my hand.

He left.

Staring at the empty dining room, my hand loosened around the box in defeat.

At this moment, the carefully prepared gift felt like a joke.

Ten years had passed, and Eduardo still hadn't fallen in love with me.

The moment his first love returned, I became the trash he casually discarded.
