Chapter 6 6

"Your training starts tomorrow" he said.

My excitement knew no bounds as I leaped for joy.

Days after day we trained in the living room, before I knew it, a year had passed and I was finally free to roam the streets again.

It felt so different stepping out of the house in the day, I could hear the whispers behind my back whenever I walked, I couldn't find a job, I could assume I was blacklisted and banned from doing anything. I couldn't ignore the constant stares, even though I was the victim, everyone treated me like I was in the wrong.

I knew it was time to leave, to start my life all over again. I was nineteen and still had a future ahead of me.

It wouldn't be easy to leave the pack, no one has been allowed to leave without the permission of the Alpha. With the history I have with Thane, I am certain he would much rather see me in misery in this pack than be free in another pack.

Still I need to leave.

I have packed all my things and waited for the cover of the night.

Once it was dark, I made my way for the east part of the border, I found three guards circling the paths, a bun fire in the center. I needed to cause a distraction so that I could escape.

I picked up a stone in front of me and tossed it further to my right catching the attention of two guards.

As they approached the source of the noise, I walked steadily towards the guard in front of me, training with Chief Edward had taught me a lot of things like Masking my scent to match with the environment.

I pulled up behind him, striking him in the neck quickly hitting a vital spot that caused him to pass out then. I dragged his body away before the others could notice that their partner was missing.

Once he was safely hidden behind a dead branch, I reached for my things and ran as fast as I could away from the border. I knew I needed to travel light, there was really nothing of huge significance in my home.

I had tried selling my things to gain some money but no one wanted to buy from the rejected mate of the Alpha.

I had gained a lot of distance from the pack so I decided to continue at a normal pace.

The border was out of sight when I felt someone following me.

Turning back I found no one but trees, I didn't dare flash a light otherwise the guards at the border might think it was an attack and come lunging towards me to protect the pack.

I hid behind a tree to see what that was, a twig snapping confirmed my instincts, I peeped backwards to see who it was. He was dressed as the guards of the Bloodmoon pack.

How was that possible?

Did they already find the body of the guard and figure out that something was wrong. It was too fast for that to happen.

I pulled a knife from my left boot, with my skills, I could take down a single guard, I waited for him to get closer then I aimed the knife at him ready to throw when it was snatched away from me.

"Found her" a voice behind me said as I sharply turn to him.

Soon I was surrounded by five men dressed as guards of the pack, a silver vest, black pants and stripped with silver lines at the end.

I took a stand eager to fight them off, nothing was going to make me go back there, I would rather die than return to the pack.

One of them reach for my hand, by I grabbed him by the wrist, twisted his arm to the back as I brought him to his knees in front of me.

"Woah" the guard who had taken the knife from me instinctively pulled back.

"Stay away from me or I will kill him"

I warned. I wasn't messing around. If I had to kill five men to get away from that cursed pack then I would.

"No, you won't" a familiar voice said and I raised my head to see Chief Edward walking towards me.

"Let him go" he ordered and I pushed the guard off me.

I look confused by how he knew I was here, or that I was going to escape tonight.

"Have you been watching me?"

"What do you think?" He spread his arms out as he smiled over his success.

"What is the meaning of this? What do you want?" I demanded pissed off that he had ruined my plans.

I was so close to starting a new life for myself, I had already picked a simple life where I wouldn't bother about love or men, all I would care about is survival.

"You can't leave"

"Like hell I can, I am already out of the pack. You cannot stop me"

"I can and I will" he stated as a matter of fact.

"Seize her" he ordered and the men immediately reached for me.

I aimed for the guard who had taken my knife, I jumped on him, knocking him to the ground as I stole the knife from his grasp, with no thought, I slit his throat with it leaving him to bleed out as I turned to face the others.

"I am not going back" I said making sure they saw the bloodlust in my eyes.

I am grateful for all that Edward has taught me but that didn't mean that he could control my life. He had no say in if I was leaving the pack or if I was staying and right now, I was leaving.

"I said grab her" he yelled at his men.

Two of them changed into their wolves, a brown wolf with white spots and a dark grey wolf ready to lunge at me, I knew I had one advantage in this fight, they wanted me alive.

It was enough to know that the order came from Edward himself and not Thane or Darla. I would be dead if they were the ones who wanted me.

The brown wolf jumped at me, he reminded me so much of Thane, I had no mercy for him as I slid under him, my knife stretching up. I stabbed him in the stomach and dragged it all the way down.

Doing that would require much strength and stamina, by the time I was out of his grasp, I lost balance and ended up between the two guards.

One of them reached out to touch me when I kicked him in the balls, I grabbed his hand dragging him down to the ground with me, then I circled my legs around his neck strangling him. I almost made it when I was pulled by the hair off him, I struggled with the grasp of the guard, I had no choice than to stab him in the hand.

He immediately let go of me.

His attention was at the knife stuck in his fingers.

The dark-grey wolf raced towards me, I moved quickly from the spot I once was, its fur grazing my skin. I grabbed him by the ear jumping over his back, my arms reached out around his neck and I snapped it causing a crash and dragging him all the way to Chief Edward's feet.

"Useless men" he cursed having to see me standing tall in front of him.

Before he could reach for me, I slapped off his hand, in a second, his hand was back and I received a punch to my cheeks.

I turned around him, kicking him in the groin, he fell on his knees.

Thinking I had won, I tried to strangle him but he threw me over his head and I fell back-flat to the ground.

Considering that he hadn't shifted to his wolf meant I wasn't as big of a threat as I thought I was.

I jumped back on my feet and reached to strike a punch, he dodged it, I tried again but he grabbed my hand, pull me closer until my back was pressed against his chest.

He held my other hand across my waist holding me in place, I was held down.

I used the back of my head to slam into his jaw, he let go in a flash,

"I said I wasn't going back" I flexed my arms ready to fight him until my last breath.

"You will" he answered wiping the blood streaming down his nose.

We began walking in circles waiting for who would strike first, the last guards watched us without an interference, if they did then it meant they didn't trust Chief Edward enough to fight a girl he had once trained.

I swooped in for a kick and he blocked it with his elbow, his other hand grabbed my leg before it could reach the ground, I fell forward, my hands on the ground. I twisted back in his grasp and threw my other leg in the air with aims to hit him in the head but he let go and I lost the support I had causing me to fall.

I turned back to him and there he was inches closer to me with a sword to my neck,

"Don't move" he ordered.

I froze in my place.

"What do you want?" I asked feeling defeated.

For a year he had trained me but he never trained me enough to be able to win him in a fight. His confident face made me realize that.

"Grab her" he ordered his men.

"Don't touch me"

"Lylah Summer" his scream caught me off guard, he had never raised his voice at him. He was always level headed and soft spoken.

There was silence in the air as he finally spoke again.

"You are under arrest for illegally crossing the border"

"What the hell do you mean arrested?" I yelled.

He didn't bother to say anything anymore. Looking at him, I had thought wrong. It wasn't Edward's order to arrest me, it would probably be the Luna who needed a reason to finish me off so she waited for me to make a mistake myself.

This could only mean death.
