Rina stood at the airport, with her luggage waiting for the Uber to come pick her up. She was finally back to New York, the place it all began and where she would end it too.
She would be their personal Karma, making sure each and everyone one of them gets a taste of their own medicine. She wasn't one to rush, she had drafted a plan and would make them suffer slowly and painfully before finishing them off.
Rina could feel gazes on her, coming from men to be precise. She ignored them all, and gracefully entered the Uber that had just arrived.
"Drop me at Golden bridge hotel." She said to the driver.
"Okay ma'am."
Golden bridge hotel belonged to Ethan, he didn't build it; he acquired it when a rival company was giving him a bit of trouble. She had chosen the hotel because he had taken her there when he got the hotel. She remembered how he ordered everyone to leave, and it was only both of them left.
To think she had gotten fooled, thinking he loved her when it was all just a facade. There was a sixty percent probability that she might meet him at the hotel. But she didn't care, in fact that was the icing on the cake.
"We are here ma'am." The driver informed, parking the car.
Rina got down, the driver helped her with the luggage and she paid him. She walked into the hotel and headed to the counter, where two receptionists stood; a man and a woman.
"Good morning ma'am, welcome to Golden bridge hotel." The man smiled politely, and she returned the smile.
The woman on the other hand was staring at them with contempt, for what reason, Rina couldn't explain.
"I'll be staying for some days." She said,
"Do you want the premium, or the executive?" He asked.
"Anyone that I'll be comfortable with." She shrugged.
"I'll book you the executive then. The premium rooms are great, but the executive room would definitely suit a beautiful lady like you better." He grinned.
Rina noticed he didn't have awry intentions with the way he spoke, he had good marketing skills.
"Tch, if you don't finish up, I'll report to the head receptionist that you're flirting with a customer." The woman hissed, "A slutty one at that."
"Irene! That's rude, you don't do that in front of a customer." The man scolded.
Rina shot a cold look at the woman, not understanding why she was so bitter.
"I apologise for that ma'am. Here's the key to room, Room 320." He handed her the key.
She got settled in her room, and unpacked her things. The room was truly exquisite and worth the amount. She was only staying in the hotel for a few days, after she got the job; she'd find an apartment close to Ethan's mansion. That was the first step.
She then called Greg after seeing more than twenty missed calls from him.
"Hello, Gre-"
"Keep it to yourself! Why aren't you picking your calls? Do you know how worried I was? I thought maybe your plane was faulty, and you had fallen into a rainforest, or your plane had gotten into the Bermuda triangle!" Greg bellowed.
Rina laughed, Greg always had the weirdest imagination.
"In other words, you want me dead."
"Hey! What? No! I didn't say that!"
Rina could tell that he was pouting. When Greg wasn't working, he was always acting like a child despite his age.
"How's New York?"
"It's no different from the last time I checked." She shrugged.
"I see. You know, anytime you feel like...just come back. Okay?" He said, and Rina felt her heart soften.
"Never."
"Tch, you're a brat. A'ight. I have to get going, work's calling."
After the call, Rina noticed a message. It was from the Cross Corporation, and....she had gotten the job as his personal female assistant.
Her brows creased as she read the letter. How? Wasn't there supposed to be some kind of physical interview? Or was it a glitch? And she never applied for that post.
Something was wrong, and she needed to check it out. She dressed corporately, and left the hotel, heading to the Cross corporation.
A wave of panic flushed through her as she stood in front of the company, but she eventually shrugged it off and walked in.
She still remembered the place like the back of her palm and she headed towards James's office, Ethan's male assistant.
Rina knocked gently on the door and made her way in.
"You're here. I made the right choice in giving you the job." He smiled.
"Sir, something is-"
"It's quite urgent. So you can start immediately, I'll take you to his office." James said, walking out of his office.
Rina stared at his figure with her jaw dropping. What the hell was going on?
She followed him, trying to catch up with him and explain everything but the man seemed to be flying.
He stopped in front of the executive door; Ethan's office. He then knocked, and walked him. Only him had the right to do that as he was quite close with Ethan.
Rina had no choice but to follow him in.
"Good morning Mr Smart, this is the new assistant. She's very punctual." James said, referring to Rina who stood at the door side.
Ethan raised his gaze from the paper work and his gaze met with a pair of stubborn, hazel eyes. For absolutely no reason, a wave of uneasiness flushes through him.
"I'm not his personal assistant. There's a glitch, I didn't even apply for that position."
Ethan shifted his gaze to James for awhile, then focused on his paper work.
"Still arrogant as ever." Rina hissed, not caring if they heard or not and she dashed out of the company, really pissed.
She hailed a taxi and jumped in, when she noticed her; Celeste. Immediately memories of that day came flooding in. The calls, the laughter, then the manicured hands.
"Follow that car. I'll pay you thrice the amount." She said to the driver.
The driver hummed with a smile as he did as he was told. After a series of turns, Celeste's car finally stopped in front of Ethan's mansion.
Rina needed no soothsayer to explain what's up. She sneaked in, following Celeste into the mansion. Memories of her times with Ethan popped in, but she shoved them aside.
She noticed Celeste going into her old bedroom, and she followed. The door was slightly open, and she watched Celeste who peeled off her clothes and wore a red and black dress, with flower petals.
That dress...was Ava's favourite dress.
