Chapter 5 The Accident

"What?" Ava gasped in shock."What do you mean, mom?" She asked."I don't know if he's going to survive it, he's bleeding too much. Ava.... I'm scared.." Lily cried and the call suddenly got disconnected."Mom.. mom!!" Ava called and sighed seeing that it was her phone that went off due to low battery, she plugged it in immediately."Big sis, is everything okay?" Sophia asked, noticing the worry in her face and her tone."No, dear. Everything is fine.

I think you'll have to spend the night at Enamel's house, are you ok with that?" Ava asked, touching Sophia's hair slowly."Why do I have to stay there? Isn't mom coming home tonight?" She asked."Actually, mum and dad had something urgent to do that will take a while..." Ava scratched the corner of her nose slowly."I mean, I'll be here with you, of course. But I really have to go somewhere quick tonight and will be back tomorrow morning." She added and unplugged her phone, it already had five percent. She held Sophia's hand and led her out of the house, into her immediately and drove to Enamel's house."Oh my God, Soph." Enamel called in excitement."Aunt..." Soph called too jumping on Enamel."What's going on?" Enamel whispered as she carried Sophia on her arms, hugging her tightly."I'll explain to you later. Let her crash here for the night. I'll pick her up early tomorrow morning." Ava said and rushed out, leaving Enamel looking worried. As Ava got into the car, she called her mom again and requested for the hospital's address, driving there immediately she got the name."Mom." Ava called as she saw her mother pacing uncomfortably around the ward."Ava!" Lily's voice shook as she stretched her hands to receive her daughter and she started crying slowly."What happened, mom?" Ava said as she hugged her mother tightly, patting her consecutively."I don't know, Ava. Shortly after your father left the house, I got a call. He seemed to have been involved in an hit and run accident and the police are still working on it. He's in grave danger, Ava. The nurses has been rushing in and out several times." Lily explained and Ava sighed, licking her lips slowly as she dipped her hands into her hair in frustration."He'll be alright." She said, trying to convince herself, even more than her mother."Where's Sophia?" Lily asked after a while, when she was calmer."I left her in Enamel's house." Ava replied and sat down beside her mother, patting her shoulders calmly.Five minutes later and the doctor was out, walking towards them. Ava could see her mother close her eyes tightly and she could only assume she was praying to receive good news."Mrs Morales?" He called, taking a look at Lily."Yes." Lily opened her eyes one after the other, fast enough to catch the doctor's little smile."Your husband is fine." He said and Ava gasped thankfully immediately, closing her eyes.Lily exhaled deeply as she stared at the doctor."He's fine, right?" She asked again and nodded her head, breathing in and out deeply."But unfortunately, I don't think he'll remember anything by the time he wakes up. Memories of about a year would be cleared off. I'm really sorry about that."Ava gasped slowly as she believe her ears. Her father would lose his memories about the past year? "With constant treatment though, he'll be able to recover fully after some time." Lily sighed as she nodded, signifying that she understood what the doctor said clearly."I'm really sorry." He said once more as he walked away. Lily collapsed on the chair suddenly and Ava rushed to hold her."Mom." She called."I'm so relieved, Ava. You don't know how scared I was. I was so scared that I would lose your father. If I lose him, what am I going to do? I won't have a life, Ava." She muttered."But he's going to lose his memory of a year." Ava pointed out."That's better than losing his life, isn't it? What's even so special about the past year?" Lily snapped and Ava nodded."That's right, mum. Should we go in and see him?" Ava asked."I don't even know if I can watch him this way. I'm so heart broken, how could this happen to my husband?" Lily cried, hitting her chest slowly."Mum, you are the one trying to cheer me up and suddenly you are crying?" Ava pursed her lips and Lily sighed, cleaning her tears slowly."Come on, let's go in." She muttered and stood up by Ava's support as they both walked into the ward.****The ringing of her phone stirred her awake from her sleep and Ava yawned tiredly as she stretched her arms, reaching out to pick her phone."Good morning." She greeted lazily, walking out of her father's ward, leaving her sleeping mother inside."Ava Morales." It was Jaxon, her boss and Ava sighed again, rolling her eyes suddenly."Yesterday, you were late. Today, you are late. Do you really want to be fired?" He asked, talking slowly and calmly. Ava was so sure he was sipping his early morning coffee by this time. She also dounted by his tone that he actually wanted to fire her. That was practically impossible."I'm really sorry sir. But I can't make it today. My father got involved in an accident." She replied slowly."What?" Jaxon gasped and sighed slowly."How is he? Is he doing okay?" He asked and Ava sighed, relieved to know that Jaxon still had some humanity left in him."But what to do?" Jaxon suddenly sighed."What's wrong?" Ava asked."What hospital are you in?" "Mustlive." She muttered and Jaxon nodded, sipping his coffee again."Actually, someone is here to see you. He'll come to the hospital." He said and ended the call, before Ava could have the chance to ask who.Five minutes later and a black car stopped in front of the hospital. Ava sighed walking out as she wondered who that would be. "Ava?" A smile spread on his lips as he came down from the car slowly, holding a flower and a basket of fruits."Mr Blackwood?"
