Ryan was already in a Lamborghini on his way to Nexarville when his phone buzzed. It was Kayla. He picked the call, put the phone on speaker and tossed it next to him. "Hello, look I know we aren't married and I know it's sweet to might have gotten me something on this anniversary day but you didn't have to steal such an expensive jewelry." "Hello? Can you hear me?" "Helloo" Kayla kept calling out but she didn't get a response. Angrily, Ryan picked up his phone and ended the call. What the f*ck? I've been married to this woman for four years and all she has to say to me is call me a thief.
How pathetic. *********** Ryan stood in front of the glamorous fashion house as he scanned through the building. There haven't been much changes in four years. "Good day young master." Greg, the long time security man greeted. Ryan inclined with a bow and proceeded to the elevator. The elevator immediately recognized his face. Money can't buy love but at least it could buy cool tech. He went straight to his father's office but there was no one seated. The office looked like it had been abandoned for four years. Then he went to Eugene's office. When he opened the door, he shook in head in disappointment and pulled back the janitor Eugene was making out with. "So...sorry sir... i..I...have to go." She stuttered as she stormed out of the office. "What the hell man, I fit about to release." Eugene said, throwing his arms in the air. Ignoring him, Ryan sat across the desk and crossed his legs and lit a cigarette. "Where's my dad? I went to his office and he wasn't there." "Oh he was admitted some days ago but he would be discharged today, the doctor said I should pick him up by three pm today." Eugene sat and lit another cigarette. "And oh yeah, I wanted to call earlier before the janitor distracted me, have you seen your trending video? Hashtag lonely husband." Eugene laughed. "What? That daughter of jezebel actually posted the video." Ryan snapped out. "Relax, I told you that your wife didn't love you the way you thought, well I'm glad you're back here now..." As he was talking, his phone beeped with a message from the doctor. "Um... hey man, the doctor said we should come to the hospital immediately and it's an emergency." Eugene said without raise his head. "Then hurry already." Ryan quickly said. ************ Ryan and Eugene got to the hospital in less than ten minutes and they rushed into the doctor's office. "Hey mister Eugene and you, I'm guessing you're mister Arthur's son." The doctor said, gesturing to the seats across the table. "We haven't come for pleasantries, go straight to the point, I want to see my father." Ryan abruptly said. "Chill man." Eugene whispered. The doctor cleared his throat and proceeded to speak, "I don't even know where to start from or how to say this." Ryan's fist we're already clenched, his anger visible on his fair skin. When the doctor noticed Ryan was running out of patience, he took a deep breath and rattled off, "Mister Arthur is dead." Immediately, Ryan's chest tightened and his stomach knotted. He was in disbelief. Dead? I haven't seen my dad in four years and now he's dead. "But I thought he was doing fine yesterday and was supposed to be discharged today." Eugene said to break the silence. "Yes, he was but this morning when we came to remove the stabilizers and IV bag, we noticed his eyes weren't white, they were bloody red and we quickly ran a test on him only to find this." The doctor handed some papers to the young men. "What is this?" Eugene asked. "It's the test result. A harmful substance called cyanide was found in the mister Arthur's body." "Are you kidding me right now? Y'all didn't give my father proper treatment and where you blame some kind of substance." Ryan exploded. "Relax please, we're still doing some investigations on the body. This is a five star hospital in the whole of Nexarville, we give quality treatment here. You have to calm down Arthur junior." The doctor said calmly. "Where's the body? Or is the body no where to be found too?" Asked confrontationally. "It's in the hospital morgue, I can show you if you're ready to see the body." The deadly stares from Ryan was already a convincing answer to show him to his father's body. "Alright, this way please." The doctor's voice trembled as he spoke. At the sight of the deceased, Ryan immediately threw up. The body was already decaying and maggots and flies were already going in and out of the cellophane bag. Ryan ran out of the hospital as he couldn't bear the sight of his dead father. Later that day, Ryan was sitting on the couch in the veranda when Eugene came to meet him. "Hey man, you don't look so good. I know you feel bad that your dad's dead but he was old already, I mean he deserves to rest." Eugene said, tapping his back. "Sure." Ryan responded nonchalantly. "Yh what about this, why don't we go to the club tonight huh, I've got some nice babes for us tonight." Eugene said with a sly grin and a wink. He continued, "you've been away from Nexarville for four f*cking years I'm sure you miss our girls here. Their pretty body, slutty attitude, you know what I'm saying." He laughed but stopped immediately he saw Ryan's stern and serious face. "Oh" "I can see you're out of your senses, because I give you privilege you think you can misuse your chances? Which sane friend suggests club and girls after a deceased?" Ryan bluntly said. "You know what? Out of my house this minute and don't ever come here unless invited!" "Chill out bro, I was just trying to help, there was nothing else I could come up with." Eugene said, trying to calm him down. "I said now!" His anger increasing. "Alright fine, I'm going, jeez man you've changed." Eugene said these words as he made his way out of the house.
