Chapter 5 Resurrected

"Are you sure you're okay?" an older woman asked.

"I'm fine."

The people gathered stared oddly at the girl in their midst. An hour ago she was declared dead after she drowned in the river she was swimming in but five minutes ago she came back to life coughing up an insane amount of water.

The people gathered watched her every move, convinced that something they were not aware of had happened. No one had ever died and come back to life the way she had.

"Or did the moon goddess spare her life?" one of the she-wolves asked in a low voice.

The woman who stood watching the scene in wonder beside her replied, "Could be."

Over the next few hours, people trickled in and out of the Beta's home. For it was his daughter that had died and come back to life. Nothing of such had ever happened in the ShadowFell Pack.

Their pack was one of the most peaceful ones in the area- the only thing that could ever cause a rouse in their pack was the presence of rogues which was already a normal thing. Not once has it been recorded that someone had died and come back to life.

An average looking man with a bald head and a full beard came running into the house of Beta Fenrir.

"The Alpha is on his way to see your daughter Beta," he reported on sighting Beta Fenrir.

About five minutes later, a young tall man walked into the house. Eleanor stared at the very attractive man noticing the way he walked with this invisible air of power. She could see that he commanded respect and authority without even trying. Even though her head felt heavy and her memories fuzzy she could remember all about him.

She remembered that he was the leader of their pack and that he was the one that was head over her Dad.

"Eleanor," the man said seating in the chair beside her bed. She bowed her head mimicking what the other people present in the room were doing.

Alpha Ethan raised a suspicious eyebrow, Eleanor had never bowed to him. So why start now after her accident?

"You may raise your head," he commanded when she didn't raise her head.

She raised her head almost too obediently the Eleanor he knew was a stubborn and fierce one.

He decided to brush it off thinking that maybe she had had a change of heart after experiencing Death.

So he asked her, "How are you?"

"I'm fine Alpha," she replied.

"How do you feel?" he further inquired.

Eleanor pretended to think over her answer before she replied, "Apart from this slight headache at the center of my head, I feel very weak and my chest burns a little."

"The pain in your chest must have been as a result for being under the water for too long," the Alpha concluded.

Eleanor barely remembered what happened at the river now that he had mentioned it, all she knew was that she was swimming until she wasn't.

"What were you doing in the river so late at night?"

She replied without missing a beat, "I just wanted to cool off and I though the best way would be to go for a swim."

Alpha Ethan and Beta Fenrir exchanged glances.

"Did you try to kill yourself because of the argument you had with your father?"

Eleanor's head spun in confusion. She had an argument with her dad? She racked her head and tried to remember but she couldn't come up with anything. How odd.

She didn't remember anything before she swam and after she got into the water.

"Dad and I argued?" she asked dumbfounded. Her gaze found her father's and she stared confused at him. "I don't remember that happening."

Eleanor's mother, Freya held her daughter by her shoulders. "Are you sure? You were pretty mad before you went out to swim."

Eleanor looked at all the faces of the people surrounding her. They looked worried and surprised. She couldn't understand why.

"But you're fine now right?" Her father hurriedly asked breaking the awkward silence that engulfed the room. Eleanor could read the situation but she could not understand what was going on but she replied anyways.

"I'm fine Dad."

After that the Alpha excused himself and stepped out to talk to Beta Fenrir.

When they were outside and away from listening ears he said, "Things don't seem right with your daughter."

Beta Fenrir shook his head still in awe, he responded truthfully, "Honestly, I couldn't care much about that right now. She's alive, Ethan. That's all that matters."

Alpha Ethan nodded once and left for his own home.

The circumstances weren't right. He was sure of it.

By midnight all the visitors and well-wishers had stopped coming to the house, it was only Beta Fenrir and his family.

With a relieved smile on his face he watched Eleanor eat the food she had helped her mother to cook earlier that day. Jade, Eleanor's help beamed beside her happy and grateful that the Moon Goddess had spared her mistresses life.

"Why is everyone looking at me?"

Eleanor's mother smiled fondly staring at her child.

"You were dead two hours ago Eleanor," she responded heaving a sigh.

Eleanor dropped her fork and put the plate on her lap aside.

"It was very scary for all of us." Jade put in.

"I thought you were gone forever," her Dad chipped in. "I was so guilty when I saw your lifeless body. I thought it was my fault"

A sad smile bloomed on his face and he wiped his face clean. No one could measure the gratefulness in his heart.

"I'm just happy you're back now."

Eleanor kept silent watching everyone else.

She didn't remember a fight happening and it didn't feel like as if she had died.

Was she really okay?

Or did something happen to her in those few minutes after she entered the water?
