Nathan's Point Of View.
"Is Sophie Alphonsus the maiden you were referring to?" My father asked me with a bit of shock. It's safe to say that he never saw that coming.
"Now I know her name
Isn't that awesome?"
I smiled.
I found myself smiling at Sophie like a toddler in love. I completely neglected my Father who was standing right in front of me.
Sophie messed up me with her irresistible beauty.
She wasn't properly dressed, yet I still find her captivating. It was something I couldn't wrap my head on.
I would have doubted if anyone had predicted that my mate wouldn't be flamboyant and classy, just like I had envisaged as a kid.
Immediately I stepped inside, I felt the mate bonding. I needed no one to tell me that Sophie was the one for me.
"You can't be with her.
You might want to have a second thought about this," my father declared.
In a bid to prove his dominance over me, he shattered my heart without even knowing.
The courtyard became calm, like a graveyard, when my father said that.
I was waiting for someone to question his orders, but no one did.
They practically feared him as though he were the mood goddess himself. It became clear that it was me against the world.
"Why can't I have her? Aren't you tired of controlling my life? This has got a stop. I'm never letting you control my life ever again,'' I sparked outrageously as my voice echoed back to me.
No one said a word to support my fight. I felt stupid that I was speaking to myself.
Sophie quivered like a wolf lost in the woods. She was clothed with the garment of confusion.
From the way she was dressed like an omega, it was obvious that she never expected to be chosen as my mate.
My Father's silence was killing me.
It did most of the damage and pierced my heart like a dagger.
I wanted to see his lips moving even if it meant yelling at me.
Majestically leaning towards me, he rested his hand on my shoulder and whispered to me, "Son, I'm sorry to disappoint you. Sophie is one of my slaves and concubines. She is wolfless. She isn't the one for you.
Try someone else."
"She is what?" I wept upon realizing that my dreams were shattered. . .
I felt something departing from my body. I couldn't tell what it was.
I buried my head in the ground to process what my father just told me.
Nothing ever made sense to me.
"It's fine.
I hereby abolish my mission," I accepted defeat.
It wasn't an easy thing to do, but I had no choice I couldn't have imagined myself having a woofless mate. My pack members are going to make jest of me.
"I, Nathan Van Helsing, the Alpha of Blood Moon Pack deserve a worthy maiden as a mate. How would I introduce Sophie Alphonsus to my pack members, knowing how worthless she is?" I asked the crowd.
Although, I wasn't expecting them to respond.
"Sophie, I command you to flee this minute until this has been settled.
You are becoming a distraction," my father ordered.
I agreed with my father's decision.
I saw no need to engage in a heated argument with him knowing I was never going to emerge victorious.
My Father has got the response to every question.
As Sophie was about to leave, I heard a voice commanding me to stop her.
"Your mate needs to connect with your inner wolf, or else you risk losing your life," The voice of the witch of the Blood Moon pack echoed, reminding me of the time when I needed it the most.
This put me in a difficult situation.
I was stuck in between the devil and the deep blue sea.
I feared my decision-making policy because I thought it might be detrimental to my life.
"Why did you suddenly halt?
I thought I asked you to vacate your quarters. Or has the mood goddess struck you with deafness?"
My father commanded, scolding.
His attitude came as a shock to me because he wasn't like that from the onset.
Although he wasn't talking to me, I could feel the earth shaking from his ferocious voice.
"She ain't going nowhere, Father.
She's my mate, and she stays,"
I challenged my father's decision.
It was something I hadn't done before.
To prevent him from reaching out to Sophie, I rushed to grab her instead.
Everyone started fleeing for safety, knowing that a third world war was most likely to happen.
Some of my father's concubines signaled me to apologize, reminding me of my father's terrifying nature.
I was aware of my father's wrath that's like the lion's tail. No one steps on it and gets away from it.
I might as well be the first person to challenge my father to a fight.
Under normal circumstances, I would have obeyed my father and walked away quietly without creating a scene.
I had to consider the possibility of losing my life if I disobeyed the warning from the witch.
Joining my late mother in the underworld cold world at 27 wasn't something I was prepared for.
It wasn't long before my father made me the Alpha of the blood moon pack.
I have potential.
I have a lot to accomplish.
If disobeying my Father would keep me alive, I'm ready to do it.
"Please, let me go.
I've caused more pain to your father. I would rather not ruin the bond you both share," she pleaded.
I ignored her wailing. If only she knew what was at stake.
Approaching me were my father's soldiers. They surrounded me with all forms of sophisticated weapons.
"Look around you, Nathan. You are outnumbered. You're never going to survive this. Let her go or you'll be shot."
"Tell that to a kid, Father.
This ain't going to kill me,'" I bragged.
"I don't think so, son.
These bullets are made of wolf bane. Of course, you know what that means, don't you?" My father revealed.
At the mention of wolfsbane, my nostrils flared up.
Surviving the wolf's bane bullet is synonymous with going to the stream with the basket, with the hope of filling it with water.
