Chapter 3 Proposal

Sophia was seen sitting and thinking, while standing and resting close to the counter in the company. She was halfly done with her job for the day.

While she was resting, all her thoughts were just fixed on Tomi, her boyfriend, who proposed to her before leaving for Europe last year.

Tomi and Sophia have been having something very interesting to do with each other. But no one except Sophia's girlfriend knows about this.

She missed the way she was being touched and kissed by Tomi, who she sees as a gift to her from heaven. However, she doesn't know whether their relationship would ever lead to a happy ending, since she has lost communication with Tomi,ever since he went to Europe looking for greener pastures.

"Hello, young lady"She heard a voice calling her.

She reluctantly turned her head, and realised that it was her boss, Mr.Jonathan.

"Greetings sir"She spoke hurriedly,not believing that her boss caught her again in a thinking mood.

Mr. Jonathan strolled his eyes on her, and told her to come see him in his office.

Sophia who was now seen in Mr.Jonathan's office, was not happy in her mind, over his invitation. It looked as if she wasn't serious with her job because she had always been caught by him in particular, not doing anything. Although, Sophia was done with the little job she has for the moment. Because of this, she decided to take a little rest, which she was using to think about the things that were so pressing to her, and Tomi, was one of the persons whom she was thinking about.

''I believe you are fine,and you have finished executing the little work you have for the moment?''Mr.Jonathan asked her.

''Exactly sir, I am done for the job at the moment. I was just taking a rest, while waiting for the next line of work ,''Sophia replied.

Her biss Mr.Jonathan, just looked at her, and strolled his eyes all around her.

''It's okay, my dear. I only have a few words for you. I hope I am not disturbing you, by taking much of your time?''He asked her, posing a very cooperative face, and trying to be disciplined and bossful.

''No, not at all sir. It's okay''Said. Sophia.

''I went through the book you wrote for me, and I found it impressive. Infact, I forwarded it to two of my editors in Europe, and they confirmed showing interest in it. For this reason, I would be commissioning you to write me another story''Mr.Jonathan informed her. He immediately took his right hand down his locker, brought out a paper that was in an envelope, and handed it over to Sophia, which she quickly collected.

''Open it, and read it in your mind''Mr.Jonathan ordered her.

''It is a story prompt sir''She said.

''That's good. Can you write the story which we want you to craft out?''Mr.Jonathan asked.

''Of Course sir. I can. As long as this is the prompt which you want me to write out for you, it would be written''She replied.

Mr.Jonathan stirred at her, and shifted his chair backward. He was trying to observe her,while having some thoughts in his mind. Sophia tried to decipher what he was thinking about, but it proved very abortive. Although, she pretends as if she didn't know that he was stirring at her.

''You have three weeks to submit this story for me. I would be paying you the sum of $5,000 this time around''Mr.Jonathan informed.

''However, I would be making an advance payment of $1,000 right now''He added.

Sophia looked at him, with a grin on her face. She was happy. Although, she couldn't believe that another writing job of this nature would ever come to her again, from him.

''No issue sir. I shall try my best. But if I may ask, could you please feed me with what you actually wished to use this novel for?. I am not saying that you don't have the right to use it for whatsoever thing you intend to use it for. I just hope I would be informed, so that I could construct the novel to suit that particular taste''Sophia asked.

Mr.Jonathan brought down his head, while thinking of something. After a while, he responded to her.

''Just go ahead to write the novel prompt which I demand from you. I am paying you for the services, and the book would be mine forever. I got the right to use it to do anything I wished with it. However, I may decide to enlighten you one of these days on what I would be using the novels for. That's if I deem it fit. But for now, just proceed with the writing job which I have given to you''Mr.Jonathan responded.

Few hours later, Sophia was now seen discussing with her parents. She had informed them about the new writing contract that was given to her by her boss.

''I am happy for you, my child. It seems like this writing skill of yours, would yield more fruit than we have ever expected?''Asked Mr.John her father?.

''I don't want to jump into conclusion for now, dad''She responded.

''I would advise you to start saving up for your masters degree. You know I would not be able to pay for it right?''Her father was enlightened.

''I know dad, and that is one of the things that made me start working in the first place. I believe I would come out successfully with my masters degree course, anyway''She said.

''Ride on my dear. Just ride on, and put in more effort. I believe that one day, all your hustles, would amount to something meaningful. Although, we have already started seeing the results of your hard work and persevering''Said, her mother.

Sophia just kept silent after hearing her parents' words. She was okay with their various pieces of advice, anyway. But something keeps disturbing her thoughts. Tomi.
