Chapter 3 CAUGHT IN THE ACT

"W..wh..what did you mean sir!?" Ella inquired her voice breaking slowly. I mean why would you say am lying she added with a confused look.

Firstly, I thought you were mentally ill or you lost your way but now I understand. "You must have run away from home due to some issues and you needed a job to sustain yourself. Logan replied with a smile

"How did you know!?" Ella asked biting on her lower lips in embarrassment.

"Your look says it all!" Although you are putting on a night wear it can still be recognized at first sight. This is one of the luxury nightwear made by "Zara" There are only ten in the country and they are sold for nothing less than fifty dollars. How can a mere orphan afford that? Logan declared.

"Ohh!" I don't know you recognized that. Ella replied clenching her fist in anger. Remembering how Linda shoved the nightwear towards her with contempt and how she had been wearing it all over the town like a fool.

"So that fool actually brought a nightwear for that huge amount of money while Am even finding it hard to survive in the orphanage what a bitch!" Ella cursed internally.

"So can you tell me the truth now!?" Logan enunciates jolting her out of her trance.

"Am sorry!" I can't tell you about that now. I just need to work for a while please help me Ella said grabbing onto his hands again while pleading with a sad look.

"I understand you!" but I really need to be somewhere right now. I will come back for you Logan replied breaking free from her hand and rushing towards the door. Remembering he is already late he can only pray he is lucky.

Please don't run away Ella begged tears finding their way to her eyes instantly.

Logan stopped in his tracks and looked back at the girl in confusion "I promise to come back for you!" he declared before walking out of the door.

"God please save me just this once!" Let that man come back and help me that's the only way I can get inside the Carter's mansion. She pleaded with tears in her eyes.

Logan entered his car and drove away. No matter how much he thinks about it there is something ominous about the strange girl he brought to the hospital but he wasn't concerned about that he needed to see that man today and get to know the shocking news that killed "Henry Carter" (The Carter Old Man).

He drove to the location that was sent to him which was a cafe. He got out of the car and rushed inside the cafe.

He checked his phone and studied the man's attire well, his face wasn't captured because he was using a face cap and nose mask.

There was no man with that attire which got him worried. He brushed through his with his hand as he walked closer to one of the attendant.

"Sorry!" Did you see a man with this Attire here!? He asked showing the attendant his phone.

"Nope!" I just got here now and am on the Afternoon shift the attendant explained apologetically.

"Ohhh!" Logan replied with a faint smile and turned back to walk out.

You can ask the manager over there he has been here since morning he will be no better. The barman added before walking away.

Logan walked closer to the man who was barely in his 40s and greeted him before showing him the image on his phone.

"Ohhh!" it's that good man, He just left not too long ago, he even gave me some change before he left the barman narrated happily revealing his brown teeth.

"Ok, thanks!" Logan replied before rushing out of the cafe.

Just when he stepped outside the man wearing the face cap and nose mask came out from where he was hiding he shook hands with the manager and squeezed some cash in his hands before walking away.

"You can always ask me for help!" The manager declared while laughing happily with his almost decayed teeth.

Logan got inside his car and dialed a number.

"He was not in the cafe are you sure there is no mistake with the signal!?" Logan yelled as soon as the person on the other end picked up the call.

"It's not sir!" the signal is still around there. We are sure the man is still in that Cafe. The person replied truthfully.

Logan ended the call furiously. "What the hell is happening!?" He questioned himself while rubbing his hands on through his hair just then he saw a figure in his side mirror it was the spilt image of the man.

"What is happening!" he declared before rushing out of the car. Then he sighted the man rushing towards a corner.

He quickly chased after him without thinking twice he chased him till he turned to another corner. Logan also turned but there was no sign of the man again, he has vanished into thin air.

"Is this a joke!?" Logan asserted while laughing hysterically and mocking himself at the same time. "He can't believe he was played with, turns out the man already knew they were tailing him. Just then his phone rang and he picked it up instantly.

The signal is gone the person's voice echoed through the phone as Logan picked it up.

"Of course!" the signal will be gone since he disappeared. Logan sneered back just then another call entered he ended the first one before picking it up. It was the guards that he put on Ella's tail.

"Why are just reporting now!?" he yelled in rage.

We are so sorry sir we need to be sure before reporting to you. One of the guards replied while stammering.

"Okay!" what did you guys find out!? Logan asked cutting him off.

Linda has an elder sister named Ella, She was sent to the orphanage home when she was still a teenager after she was framed for killing Linda's mother and now she is back.

She caused trouble with Linda and their father wanted to disown her but he suddenly accepted her back for a reason which wasn't clear to us. And earlier this morning She was pushed out of the house again. The guard explained.

"Wait!" did you just say she was chased out of the house earlier today!?" Logan inquired.

"Yes sir!" they replied in unison.

Logan remembered Ella at once and how she insists on working in the Carter's mansion.

What kind of cloth was she putting on!? He asked again.

"A nightwear" The guards replied sharply.

"The Valkyris must really think they are wise" he enunciates as a wicked smile crawls towards his lips.

"I will take care of it!" he said sharply and ended the call.

He rushed towards his car and drove straight to the hospital. He swung the door open and walked in majestically.

You are back Ella replied with a smile but Logan grabbed her back her neck before she could utter another word.

"Who are you!" he asked his voice burning with fire.
