Chapter 4 First day

Anyone can make you smile, but it takes someone special to make you happy'

"So, take a right from here and you'll reach your department! Once you reach your department, you'll find your classroom", instructed Laura standing in the middle of the pathway which leads to both their departments.

"Thanks, Laura", smiled Kate. It was her first day on campus. She knew that it was time for her to accept the fact that this place is gonna be her home for the rest of 4 years. She liked the green meadows and small pathways, the campus was pleasant and colorful. The good- soothing ambiance of this campus made her feel relaxed and her mood was brightened. Kate looked around the campus in ecstasy.

Laura took Kate to a small tour prior to their classes. She showed her places that were close to the girl's dormitory, which includes the library and the swimming pool. Laura showed her the way to the school of Engineering and architecture.

"So, see you at lunch!! Do you remember the way to Cafeteria? Or should I text you?", asked Laura.

"I'll text you after class. So what's your first class?", questions Kate.

"It's economics!!", claimed Laura along with a yawn.

"See you!" Kate waved goodbye and walked towards her department.

On her first day, kate decided to wear a printed black mini -maxi length dress which was above her knees, the dress had short sleeve and V neck. The short sleeve revealed her broken arm with the cast. She wore black sneakers which matches with the dress. She let her brown ombre, delicate mid back length hair loose with curls at the end.

Kate got used to her broken arm with the cast. She has been like this for 2 whole month. So she was well versed in doing all her daily regular activities.

Kate had statistics for her first period. She searched for her classroom once she entered her department.

This was her first class and she very much excited on her first day here. Statistics class is gonna be different since there would be students from all other departments attending this course for their particular semester.

Kate enters the class in awe. Few students were scrolling their phone while few were busy chatting with their friends and the others looked at her and her broken arm.

Kate suits herself in a seat in the middle of the classroom. There were almost more than 50 seats in the classroom arranged in 5 columns. She could sense a group of people both boys and girls staring at her from the last corner of the classroom. She ignores them and places her backpack on the table.

Suddenly, a tall man who was professionally dressed entered the classroom announcing everyone to take their seat.

"So, let's continue with the last week's class", he said.

Kate blinked few times and was demented on his comment. She knew nothing about this class, no one here and she was unaware of what's going on with this statistics class. She doesn't know what to do and she turned around and looked at the person right beside her. But, she refused to look at Kate.

"How can She be such a bitch. Screw you, blonde", Kate cursed the blonde girl to herself.

Kate gave up the idea of asking help and took out her notebook.

The professor looked at Kate for a second and opened his mouth to say something. Kate bend down, mimicked as if she was going through her notes and avoided looking at him.

"Hey, you!!", he pointed out Kate. All the pairs of eyes ? in the lecture hall looked at her. Kate was startled and didn't know what to do. She slowly got up from her seat.

"Are you new here ?", he questioned sternly. Kate looked at him and nodded.

"So, may I know your name please. Myself Arthur. I'm your statistics teacher for this semester", he introduced himself. Kate was amazed on hearing him. He seemed humble.

"Good morning sir, myself Kate Williams", she introduced herself.

"So kate, is it your first day here??"

Kate replied a yes. And she informed him that she belong to the school of Engineering and architecture.

"Kate, come here and introduce yourself", said Mr. Arthur.

Kate was not the type of the girl who gets nervous or shy to talk before a crowd. She moved to the front of podium and introduced herself.

Kate looked at the students who were eager to know her and especially her story behind the broken arm with cast.

"Hi folks, katie here!

I'm one of your new classmate. I'm, in my first year in the school of Engineering and architecture. It's my first day here.

There is nothing more interesting about me. I'm really looking forward in knowing you all better.

You all might wonder what's the story behind my cast. Trust me, it's not worth it. So let's spare it for another day".

She finishes off and moves towards her place. She caught the attention of everyone in the class by her introduction. Some loved the way she spoke fearlessly while others hated her attitude. Mr. Arthur starts his lecture and assured Kate that he would provide her with the necessary notes for the classes she has missed in the past weeks.

The class comes to an end and Kate packs her things. Few came by to say hello and hi while others ignores her. The group of students at the right corner of the classroom kept staring at her and this made her feel uneasy. There were 4 boys and 3 girls in the group. These girls dressed in the most sexiest way which was disgusting to look. While the boys seemed rude and brutal. Kate wondered if any of one of them knew how to smile.

"Hey, nice intro by the way!!", said a boy with a smile, highly pleasing smile. He had beady charcoal eyes. His smile was undeniable and his fluffy brown curly hair was neatly cut and he looked cute.

She smiled back and told him thanks.

"I'm noah, Noah white", he put forward his hand for a shake.

"Hey, myself Kate", she shook by her left hand.

"So, see you around", she said and was about to leave the class room.

"Yep, and you caught the attention of JC'S circle", Noah cautioned her about the group of people sitting at the right end of the classroom.

"Oh, who are they?", she asked doubtfully, and she doesn't look at them.

"It's JC and his friends", affirmed Noah.

"What?? Really??", before Kate could look at him, they left the classroom together as a group. All she could see was his back head and his black leather jacket.

Noah and Kate made their way to the next class. They had calculus class in common as well. Noah seemed to be a easy going person with a great sense of humor. He made her laugh, giggle and chuckle all the time. Noah made her feel happy and she felt anxiety free and stress free, the time she was with him. Noah told her a lot about this place and to her surprise, he too belonged to the school of business and architecture. But they don't have too many classes in common.

It was lunch time and she walked towards the Cafeteria following the directions Noah told her about. She texted Laura that she would meet her at the Cafeteria.

She reached the Cafeteria and entered it to find a lot of students eating, chatting and doing their own stuff. She couldn't find Laura or Jinny in the crowd. She texted Jinny asking her where they were. She walked forward in the mean time, looked at her phone checking whether Jinny replied her back.

Someone blocked her way, she moved left while her eyes still looked at phone. She walked forward and this person blocked her path. She didn't look up from her phone but she could sense that the person was doing it on purpose. The person was too tall that Kate could only see his torso.

She have to raise her head to look at his face but for some reason she could see the whole Cafeteria has turned silent a long time ago. He wore a leather jacket and his body was well built. He smelled of elegant woody oriental fragrance which remained Kate of forests.

Kate tried to look up and to her surprise she sees a familiar face.
