Chapter 2 Forming Bonds

Once I know you I never wanted to know anyone else'.

Knock....knock......

Kate woke up to the sound of knock knock, someone was knocking the door repeatedly. Her petite body felt so weak to get up and open the door. She finds out that she has slept for 4 long hours. She rubs her bloodshot eyes and rubs her face to wash away the drool using her hands and walked towards the door.

She opens the door to find a girl with hazel brown eyes looking at her with a hint of surprise all over her face. The girl's thick bouncy coppery hair was tied up like a ponytail leaving few flicks of curly hair in the front dancing in the air. She brushed away her single strand of curly hair from her forehead. She was radiantly beautiful with a flawless olive skin. Her beady eye widened on seeing Kate's broken right arm with the cast.

"Hey", the girl smiled at Kate, which was sweet of her to do so.

"Hi", smiled back Kate, holding the door for her to enter the room.

"Jinny, move please. It's exhausting to stay in class for a whole day", said another soft voice standing behind the curly haired girl.

"Oh, well, Hi!. Nice to meet you. You must be our new roommate!", welcomed the girl who wore glasses. Her glasses were cool, her frame matched the color of her hair. Her elegant black hair was coiffed to usual hairstyle with a brown srunchie. Her tanned skin was more attractive than her clear brown eyes. This girl seemed bold and calm at the same time.

They entered the room and Kate closed the door.

"Hi", the girls said in unison.

"So, Hey, myself Kate Williams", she introduced herself to break the ice between them.

"Yeah, sorry for not introducing myself. I'm Jinny Brown, and I belong to Howard's University of arts and science. I'm doing my major on literature", the girl with the curly hair put forth her right hand for a friendly shake.

Kate found her so comforting and amiable. She shakes hand with Jinny and gave a her side hug. Jinny knew how to make people feel like home and comfortable.

"And myself, Laura Thomson! I'm being tutored in Howard's University school of business. Feel free ask anything and you are most welcome to hang around with us", Laura welcomed Kate with a smile.

Kate was amazed to find these girls so comfortable and easy going. Kate was so relieved and fortunate to have such roommates. All her fear and anxiety about this new place was broken up by these two girls.

"You know what, I'm delighted I'm very happy to meet you both", beamed Kate.

"So, Kay? Which department you belong to?", asked Janice curiously. The way she called 'kay' , remained Kay of her closed ones.

"Kay, can I tell you something, you are alluring and cute!! I'm sure you should have done modeling in high school", appreciates Jinny

"Hey", Jinny waved her hands in front of Kate's face.

"It's nothing, the way you called kay, that was overwhelming. I'll be taking my classes in the Howard's College of Engineering and architecture", shrugged Kate.

"Oh, so great! We are neighbors", admitted Laura.

"What?", Kate asked rubbing her temple, her right arm with the cast remained folded.

"Our departments are closer to each other. The school of business management and architecture are just few miles apart. While, Jinny's department is far away from our buildings", affirmed Laura. Kate looked confused for a minute.

"Don't worry, we will take you around for a tour", delcared Jinny with a grin.

Kate's heart skipped a beat seeing those girls treating her like their long known friends. Kate has ached for this kind of love for so long. But her past experiences were mostly bitter.

"To be frank, I was stressed about this new place earlier, I thought that especially coming here after 2 weeks would leave me all alone but that has turned out to be false", admitted kate.

The girls smiled at her and assured that she is not alone here.

"The past two weeks wasn't that interesting or innovative. The first day was slightly different from the other days since we were all new here, then it took a week to know this place better and we started attending our regular classes last week. So nothing happened here that you should regret on missing",? emphasized Laura.

Kate nodded showing her approval.

"And you will come across lot's of interesting and inviting people here", giggled Jinny. Kate smiled at her.

"Kay, we are having our inaugural day by the end of next day. Thought, you should know", said Laura. Kate agrees by nodding a yes.

"This University has a population of more than thousands of students in various departments. So we can't get to know all of them, but we will come across most popular ones that we shouldn't mess up with", states Jinny in a serious tone. Kate listened to Jinny oration with full concentration.

"Guys, I knew nothing about this place. It was my dad who brought me to this place on his own compulsion. He made all the arrangements and I knew zero details here", announced Kate. Jinny looked at Kate's cast for a long time expecting a story from her. Jinny couldn't ask her directly since she doesn't want to make her feel uncomfortable on her very first day here.

Kate doesn't want to bore them with her past stories.

"Jinny, you know what happened in my department block today??", expressed Laura. Jinny mouth changed to the shape of 'O' in surprise. Kate sat on Laura's bed to hear her out. The way Laura spoke anticipated curiosity among them.

"JC bet the hell out of a boy who belongs to Third year of law department!!", yelled Laura.

"What?? Oh god, this JC!! Is he a devil or something!! Man, I hate him. I fucking hate him", snapped Jinny.

"Can I ask you something?? Who is JC?", Kate asked them curiously.
