Chapter 3 She can't be here

Killan's POV....

"I love you Rachel, and I would like to spend the rest of my life with you." I lied, with a fake smile on my face.

"Say it again; if you can't convince me, how will the media be convinced that we are in love, and you want to marry me." Rachel asked, she was starting to irritate me with her words.

"We have been at it for the last ten minutes Rachel." I said, and she rolled her eyes at me, I am stuck in this because of my mother. I would have never thought of being with her outside of business.

"If you get your expression right, and you do it better, maybe we can all get going." She said in a high-pitched voice.

Tomorrow I would be proposing to Rachel at her favorite restaurant, I have no idea what the restaurant looks like or what the ring seems like, she planned everything the moment my mother went behind my back to arrange this wedding, and she invited every paparazzi and media.

She wants it to be perfect, I don't understand what my parents see in her, she is a gold digger just like every other girl, she comes from very wealthy parents and yet, she prefers spending the wealth of others rather than hers.

I can't believe I am doing this, I am getting married in five months, I would have never agreed to this if I didn't have a choice.

I shook off the thought and I glanced back at her with a frown on my face.

"Do we have to do this, we can just announce the wedding through the media." I said, and a gasp escaped her lips.

"We are not doing that, I have worked hard for this for three months, and we are going to do it right, your mom told me you have a proposal letter somewhere around, we can use that."

"No- but Killan." She said cutting me off when I stopped her.

"I said no Rachel, I can handle all of your madness, but I am not going to read you a letter that I wrote three years ago, and I would rather not hear anything about it, I will be at the restaurant tomorrow and that is it, I don't want to hear any word." I yelled, I felt a wave of anger wash over me.

She had it coming, she thinks she can get everything she wants because she is getting married to me; I have been stuck in my office with her, practicing my proposal vows, I have had enough of it, and I am not going to take it anymore.

"Killan- get out." I yelled, "on a second thought, I would be leaving." I said, I took out my coat and I walked out of the office.

I couldn't believe she would ask me to read her the same proposal letter I wrote for Emma, I hid it somewhere special, I locked up everything that reminded me of her, I told Rachel from the first day my mother signed this deal.

I told her I could never fall in love with her, I will care for her, I will protect her, but I will never be the one she comes to when she is in pain, it saddened me that even after that she wanted to be with me, she wanted to be with a man that would consider her as a second choice.

My heart belonged to one person, Emma, when she left me, she took everything with her, my heart, my happiness, my peace of mind, my heart ached at the thought of her, I quickly shook off the thoughts and I headed into my car, I locked the door.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard my phone ringing, I glanced at the caller, it was my mom, Rachel must have called her, I ignored the call and rested my back on the chair.

My eyes burning with tears at the thought of Emma, what could I have done for her to leave me on the day we were getting married, I stood at the altar for hours, even after everyone left, I did not want to believe that she would do this to me, a part of me knew she just had a reason, but why didn't she speak to me?, I loved and trusted her and she left me on the day we were supposed to be together forever.

I tried to find her, I tried to contact her for a long time, until I stopped, she turned me into a man that can't fall for anyone, she turned me into a man who hated the word love, I wanted to meet her one day, I wanted to punish her hurting me, I wanted her to feel the same pain as I did.

As I was buried in my thoughts, I heard the loud sound coming from outside the car, from my window I could see Rachel yelling at one of the staff. I quickly started the car and before she saw me and I drove away.

I drove through the highway when my car came to a halt in front of a little café. I used to come here with Emma, I bought the café after she left, I didn't want anyone to be there anymore, I headed out of the car and I headed inside the café, it was a little dusty.

I glanced around the room when memories came flooding back to me, we had our first date here because it was the first place I had met her, she was so simple and sweet, she had no idea who I was which even made it better.

I glanced around the glass window when my eyes caught someone standing in the streets, my breath hitches and I headed out of the café, my heart tightened against my chest with the thought of what I was seeing.

No, it can't be possible, she can't be here.
