Chapter 4 The Transition.

Maya's eyes fluttered open, and she found herself lying on the forest floor. She was disoriented and groggy, but as she sat up, she realized that she was alone.

The rustling in the bushes had stopped, and the forest was quiet once again. Maya's heart was still racing with fear, but she knew that she had to get out of there.

As she stood up, Maya noticed a figure emerging from the trees. It was a woman, tall and imposing, with a cruel smile spreading across her face.

"Welcome, Maya," the woman said, her voice dripping with malice. "I've been waiting for you."

Maya's heart skipped a beat as the woman approached her. She could sense the danger emanating from the woman, and she knew that she had to defend herself.

But as the woman attacked, Maya felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through her veins. She fought back, her fists flying as she tried to defend herself.

In the heat of the moment, Maya didn't realize what was happening. But as she looked down at the woman's lifeless body, she felt a wave of horror wash over her.

She had killed someone.

And as she looked down at her hands, Maya felt a strange sensation coursing through her body. Her heart was racing, her senses were on high alert, and her body was beginning to change...

It was Liam.

"Liam," Maya growled, her voice barely recognizable. "What's happening to me?"

Liam stepped forward, his eyes locked on Maya's. "You're turning, Maya," he said. "You're becoming what you were meant to be."

Maya's mind was reeling as she struggled to comprehend what Liam was telling her. She was a werewolf, a monster, a creature of the night...

And as she looked up at the moon, Maya felt a surge of power course through her body. She was no longer human, no longer weak and vulnerable...

She was a force to be reckoned with...

Maya's body was fully transformed now, her senses heightened as she sniffed the air. She could smell the trees, the earth, and the animals that lived in the forest.

Liam stepped closer, his eyes locked on Maya's. "You're beautiful," he said, his voice full of awe.

Maya growled, unsure of how to respond. She was still trying to wrap her head around what was happening to her.

Something monstrous...

Liam watched her, a proud smile spreading across his face. "Go ahead," he whispered. "Take it."

Maya sprang forward, her muscles propelling her through the air. She caught the deer off guard, and it let out a terrified bleat as Maya sank her teeth into its neck.

The taste of blood filled Maya's mouth, and she felt a surge of power course through her body. She was a predator, a killer...

And as she looked up at Liam, Maya saw a look of approval on his face. "You're a natural," he said, his voice full of pride.

"What do they want?" Maya asked, trying to keep her voice steady.

Liam's face was grim. "They want me to bring you back to the pack," he said. "They want to...evaluate you."

Liam nodded. "Yes. They want to see if you're worthy of being part of the pack."

Maya felt a surge of anger. "I don't want to be part of any pack," she said.

Liam's eyes locked onto hers. "I know," he said. "But we don't have a choice. They'll come for us, Maya. And we have to be ready."
