Chapter Four
A troubled Damien wandered away outside, with the report sheet in his hands echoing the very words "...your bloodline is very thin".
Staggering out of the hall, those two girls approached him again. They overheard what the old man told him and tried to cheer him up.
"You don't have to worry, I guess there's a way out of this", Carly says.
"Look..the shop there", Anna says, as they approached a pink shop with a man with wolf ears, tinted glasses, and a white lab coat inside focused on a boiling solution over the sky. They saw no fire but the solution was boiling.
They directed their gazes at the signboard "upgrade your bloodline here". That was when they noticed a collection of different bloods arranged in rows on a shelf. They had labels on it. Some carried a wolf label, others carried "new shift", others, leopards...vampires...and so on.
"Excuse me sir..." Damien coughs.
The smell there was really intoxicating and making it hard to breathe properly but he was amazed Carly and Anna seemed unfazed by it, like they were used to the foul smell.
"Damien Fury, right?" The Professor called outrightly, after looking at his details which popped up on the screen before him.
"How did he know my name?" Damien thought.
"This is the land of Immortals where most of your thoughts are visible to people like us. That's why I'm here to lead you", the man said.
Damien then looked curiously at the gadget facing the Professor.
"All your details are recorded, including your height, and age, so feel free to share sensitive details with us, because we'll use those details to help you in case you run into any problem", the Professor spoke again.
Just before he could narrate his ordeal with the man, Anna and Carly were sent for, to meet with the old sage Damien met at the hall.
"We'll catch up later okay! Just stay cool", Carly patted his back, and Anna hugged him, before they both left.
"Friends?" The Professor asked him with a cheeky nod.
"Met them here", he says, as he looks back to observe them as they move, before deviating his thoughts from them. He had more serious things to think about now.
"I'll help you, but you must have to be serious to pass through a rigorous phase that'll break you almost to death", the man says, while observing Damien's response.
"I'm ready for anything, just do whatever. My brain's spinning already from the whole event this morning".
The Professor took him on a long walk to observe all the trees around, until they came to an inn that looks more like a shrine.
The environment in the inn was serene. There were red candle lights there. The Professor told him to sit in a meditative position and began to chant as he sprinkled lavender, and purified water all around him. He was trying to reconnect Damien to his ancestral lineage and this was going to be a very painful process.
The room was dimly lit, and Damien struggled to focus, as his head started spinning with the incense in the room. It was too strong for his brain to handle.
Soon, his brain started forming pictures of the shadow of a strange creature with sharp canine teeth, and red hunting eyes. A light flaming candle was held over his eyes, as the Professor kept repeating chants around him, as Damien got more restless, and uneasy. All his body was now sweaty, as he struggled to break out of the meditation.
Fire began burning all over the creature before him, but he remained unburnt, with its eyes fixed on him.
Suddenly the creature became clear, and what was standing before him, was a werewolf with dark red eyes, and creased forehead looking deep into his soul. It looked so furious that it scared him.
Suddenly, a very strange hot air began emanating from its body, which was twice as hot as hell.
Damien wrangled in pain as the heat left deep hot red marks on every part of his body like he was whipped Thousand times.
After what seemed like 12 hours, a weak Damien fell with his face flat to the ground, with a strong heat emanating from his body. His eyes had turned white, and he struggled to focus on a single object before him. As he tried to stand, he staggered and fell on his face.
"Arrghh! Arrrrrghhh!" He groaned wildly by the stomach upset he was having due to the emergic release in his veins and muscles.
The Professor stayed in that meditative position for two more hours, until Damien was brought back completely to the cautiousness of his environment. He then took him to an open field, and released a hyena and told him to chase it.
Damien hadn't eaten for a full day now, and his animalistic instinct was driving him nuts. The Professor had told him he had just three chances and if he doesn't get the hyena in the third chance, he wouldn't eat for the whole 7 days.
Damien missed the first and second. He was in the last chance when the hyena was released again. This time he had a limited time of just a second to catch the hyena or forget about eating. Damien maintained focus on the speed of the hyena, and his senses heightened in an instant as he grabbed the hyena furiously and devoured it.
Next, he was taken to a gym where all sorts of weight equipment he had never seen on earth were there. He was then forced into a squatting position where he did a deadlift of over 500 pounds. When he did the first set, his muscle contracted, and he couldn't stand up, but the man pulled him up in an instant causing a sore on his waist region. He wasn't given much time to rest before he was forced into doing 16 reps within 7 seconds. The weight was then added, and he had to forcefully do the squat deadlift for another 12 reps.
After every successful weight lift, he was rewarded with a fresh animal which he used to energize him to work more.
Then the old man took him to an environment that was Stormy. The place was snowy and it was hard to walk without a sweater on. The Professor took off all his clothes, and made him run in the snow. Damien thought he might die by all these but the old man kept worsening the training by each day. At times, he got sick, but there were no drugs administered to him.
Even during combat training, he made sure there was no first aid for his injuries, nor was there any Energy booster to keep him rolling.
From the resilience and determination, he could see in his eyes, Professor Mark knew Damien had a lot in him he needed to unleash. This made him more stern, and strict and that's why he gave him no access to any form of treatment for his injuries, or sickness. The School was going to be more rough on Damien so the best time he needed to develop that mindset to bear pain is now.
