Chapter 4 ★ELLEN★

I forwarded the money into the hospital's account so they could start the operation soon, all thanks to Sir Ryan. He's such an angel.

Doctor Smith, along with Doctor Enoch and some nurses, went into the theatre room.

I tried to follow, but I was stopped by the nurses. I argued and struggled with them, but all to no avail.

I sat down at the entrance, sweating profusely and praying seriously for the operation to be successful.

I didn't know when I fell asleep at the entrance. I didn't know how long I slept, but all I know is that immediately the door was opened, I jumped to my feet.

I checked the time and saw that it was already late.

Wow! I slept for over 3 hours.

I held Doctor Smith by his coat as I was very eager to know the outcome of the surgery.

"Doctor, how was it?" I asked impatiently.

"It was successful, but she's still asleep right now. She needs so much rest, so it may take time before she wakes up,' he explained.

'Oh, thank goodness,' I said, rubbing my palms together.

'Thank you, doc. God bless you, but I hope she'll be fine when she wakes up,' I asked.

'Yeah,' he said and left.

I went into Mum's ward and met her sleeping, as the doctor had said.

It was already late, so I had to sleep in the hospital...

★CAMILLA (Kyla's mum)★

I was watching TV in the sitting room, smiling sheepishly. My husband was in his room attending to some things.

Juliet had gone out on a date with her boyfriend (Fred) and Ashley was in her room, probably sleeping.

Suddenly, I heard the doorbell. I stood up immediately to check who it was.

I opened the door and saw the Sanchez family.

I opened my mouth in awe....

"Hey Vanessa, hi Jeffery", I greeted them.

"Come on in", I said paving way for them.

They came in and sat down , I quickly went in to the kitchen to get fruit juice which I served them with .

"Feel at home", I said .

"Honey,Honey", I called through the stairs.

"Yes?", my husband replied .

"We have some august visitors", I said.

"Okay, I'm coming".

Soon, he came down and exchanged pleasantries with the Sanchezs, afterwards we began discussing some minor issues.

Jeffrey suddenly switched to a topic.

"Erhmm, Camilla, Brandon,I brought out an idea", He said.

"Tell us about it" my husband said eagerly.

"I want our company's bond to get tighter, I want us to be one by combining partnerships ", he said .

"That's a very good idea", I reasoned .

"But we are getting old, we need someone to run both companies for now", Vanessa added.

"And the only way that can be done is if one of your daughters get married to Ryan", Jeffery dropped the bombshell.

Like seriously?? So who is to marry Ryan?.

My husband and I exchanged glances then backed to the Sanchez. A mischievous grin appeared on Brandon's face.

"Don't worry, we will give you feedback, whatever happens", he replied.

The Sanchez stood up to go .

"Oh,sorry we couldn't offer you anything", I apologized.

"Camilla,you don't have to worry, the fruit juice is enough,and besides,this is our home,if I need something,you know I can go to the kitchen and serve myself", Vanessa replied and Jeffery nodded.

"Ok then,take care" I waved as they went away.

My husband also waved as they left finally...

★ASHLEY★

I smiled mischievously as I tiptoed back into my room. I heard all the conversation that Ryan's parents had with my parents.

I'm so happy!!!

Finally, my dream would come true because I know I would be the one chosen to marry Ryan.

I love Ryan so much and I've crushed on him for up to five years now.

I'm the eldest and I think it's high time I got married. I'll finally be called Mrs Sanchez, the thought of it alone brought smiles to my face.

I continued daydreaming and laughing alone in my room.

I can't wait for the day I would bear Ryan's surname as my last name......

Mum's surgery was successful and she was discharged from the hospital after spending extra three weeks.

Drugs were administered to her so as to keep her new kidney effective.

I had to take a week leave from my work place to take good care of mum. I was in the kitchen preparing mum's lunch when the doorbell rang.

I quickly cleaned my hands and headed for the door. I opened the door only to see.....!!!!!

What the hell!???

I opened my mouth in bewilderment.

"Would you just stand and stare ?", he said snapping me out of my thoughts.

" Oh sorry", I apologized and paved way for him to enter.

"Nice apartment", he compliment going in.

"Thanks", I replied feeling uneasy.

He's not supposed to be here right? This kind of apartment doesn't suit his type.

What would he be thinking?? Oh Ellen, stop thinking stupid. I was already lost in my own world.

"Earth to... Ellen", he half yelled bringing me out of my trance.

"Sorry, what were you saying?", I asked.

"I see you were lost,so how's your mum now?".

"She's getting better".

"Excuse me!",I said and quickly went into the kitchen to complete my cooking.

I came back only to see my mum and Ryan laughing and chatting as if they've known each other for long.

I sat on the stool behind them not wanting to interrupt their discussion.

After a while, i had to clear my throat because the talk was already getting intense.

"Uhm uhm, food is ready", I announced.

"Son, you have to eat with us", mum said.

"I'll gladly do so mum", Sir Ryan replied.

"Wow!, Son? Mum?, What's going on",I asked exchanging glances with both of them.

"You're not invited into our conversation", mum said dragging Sir Ryan to the dinning table.
