Chapter 2 ★KYLA★

Neil, pass the ball!!!," I screamed, jumping up and down the post. Right now, we are at the field having fun;

I am the keeper. Funny, right?? Prisca came to my side and started laughing.

I suddenly frowned, knowing fully well what caused the laughter. "Kyla, you suck at keeping. Can you imagine? Neil scored two goals just at the beginning of the game," she said, still making jest of me.

"What do you mean? At least I'm still better than you are," I said with a pout. "Said by who??" "Kyla Mondava, the top queen," I said, winking at her.

"Girls, watch out!!!" Neil screamed as the ball came in our direction. We dodged it and ran off, laughing hard....

★CAROLINA★

I lay on Eric's chest, enjoying the beat of the music coming out of the earpud I connected to my ear.

I moved my body slowly as Eric stroked my hair. Suddenly, Eric tapped me, and I removed the earpud instantly. "What?" I asked, raising my head. "Lina, I don't know why...but I feel somehow guilty for betraying Ryan", he said peering his eyes into mine.

"What for?, you know it's you I want and besides he caught us already and we've broken up", I replied.

"You don't mean it!!?", he said in surprise.

"Like seriously?, you don't have an idea that we are not together again?"

"But you know what? I don't love him, I only want his money and I'm sure he can't resist such a beauty", I said flaunting around the room with just my undies on.

Eric stood up and held my waist from behind.

"Right now, I love you so much and I don't wish to lose you", he said turning me to face him as he placed a light peck on my lips.

"Not happening baby", I replied and kissed him properly this time.

★RYAN★

I was in my office arranging a load of files. I was sweating profusely so I decided to call Ellen to assist me.

I dialed the intercom and she picked up on the third ring.

"Ellen, I need you in my office".

"Ok-a-yy s-ir", her voice came out cracked.

Something is definitely wrong with her.

Few minutes later, she came into my office looking sad.

"I'm here sir", she said diverting her gaze to the floor.

"Ellen, what's wrong? You don't look good", I said, my voice laced with concern.

"Sir, it's nothing, just a minor issue".

"Do you mind sharing?", I asked and her countenance changed immediately.

"It's alright if u don't wanna talk about it. I just want you to help me with these files", I said pushing the files towards her.

"Okay sir", she said and turned to go.

"Uhmm, Ellen, can we have lunch together?", I asked hoping she would agree.

She hesitated for a while.

"It's okay sir".

"Okay thanks, I'll be expecting you",I said and she hurried out.

I don't know what this feeling is but everything in me wants to help. I just hope she could open up.

★ELLEN★

I quickly rushed out of the office panting heavily. I held my chest as soon as I reached out.

That was close!.

I really appreciate his concern for me but I don't think I should bother him with my problems.

I'll just wait till the end of the month for my salary, I pray mum survives.

Mum is suffering from kidney deficiency and she needs a transplant. That's the main reason I'm working here.

I got to my desk and started arranging the files. It was much but I managed to finish it before lunch.

I sat on the chair totally exhausted, I suddenly heard a knock on the desk.

I looked up and saw Collins. He's my co-worker and Sir Ryan's best friend.

I heard he was the only friend Sir Could trust and talk to ever his former best friend betrayed him by cheating with his girlfriend and blah blah blah....

"Hey, Sir Ryan needs you downstairs", he said.

"Oh it's lunch time already, I'm going out now", I replied and he walked away.

I rounded up what I was doing and went to join my boss in the car.....

★ELLEN★

The car started and the driver drove us to God knows where.

I was looking out of the window all through the drive. After a long silent drive, the car stopped.

I guessed we were there already.

I looked out and saw a gigantic restaurant. The driver came down and opened the door and I came out, Sir Ryan also came out from his own side.

We went into the restaurant and occupied an empty table.

No sooner had we sat down than a waiter came running to our table.

"Your order pls", he said and Ryan signalled him to come to my side.

I picked the menu and searched through. I selected the cheapest food on the list.

Since he's treating me out, I must not pass my boundary.

Sir Ryan looked at me and shook his head.

"What's that? Select something better, bill on me", he said.

"No sir, I'm okay with that".

"Are you sure?", he asked and I nodded.

"Okay, get me the same thing", he said and the waiter went away.

Soon, we were served and we started eating. I started eating rather, because Sir Ryan was just poking fork into his food.

He was stealing glances at me at intervals and I began feeling uneasy.

"You know", he started and I stopped eating immediately.

"You can share anything that's bothering you with me, I mean anything at all, because a problem shared is a problem half solved", he said and I choked.

Why is he hellbent on knowing what's wrong with me??

But do I have to hide anything from him? He might be of help. What if mum doesn't survive the delay?

But I don't want to bother him with my problems. He has much on him already...
