Chapter 1 Aurora Valderama had always been a dreamer

Aurora Valderama had always been a dreamer, but it was never the kind of dreams that people typically indulged in. She dreamt of a life with him. Rafael Monteverde. The man who was everything she could never have, yet someone she had always longed for. From the first time she laid eyes on him, she knew he would be the only man she would ever love. The vast gap between their ages didn't matter to her, nor did the fact that they came from two very different worlds. In her heart, it was Rafael who made her world complete.

She had grown up in a family where emotions were often buried beneath layers of tradition, but it was Rafael who made her feel alive in ways she had never experienced. His presence, the way he carried himself with an air of authority and power, only deepened the ache she felt every time they were in the same room. To her, it didn't matter that he was older, more experienced, or had a life already planned out. He was the one person she could never stop thinking about.

Aurora knew it was foolish to harbor such feelings. He was far beyond her reach-successful, confident, and seemingly unattainable. And yet, she couldn't help but imagine a life where the two of them could be together. In her mind, she wasn't just some naive girl; she was the woman who would fight for what she wanted. Rafael was everything she wanted, and she believed deep in her soul that they were meant to be together.

Her feelings were unspoken, hidden beneath layers of quiet admiration and longing. Every glance, every fleeting moment they shared, filled her heart with a silent hope. She had made up her mind that she would do anything to be with him. No matter what it took, no matter the consequences, Aurora was determined to make Rafael her own.

But life had a way of throwing obstacles in her path. She had heard rumors, whispers among the circles they moved in, about Rafael's plans to reconcile with his ex-wife. Aurora's heart sank at the thought, but she refused to accept defeat. She couldn't. It wasn't enough that Rafael was the man of her dreams; she was prepared to make him her reality, even if it meant stepping into a world of complexity and potential heartbreak.

It wasn't just a crush anymore; it had evolved into an obsession. A love that consumed her every waking thought, a passion that could not be extinguished. Aurora would not, could not, let Rafael slip away.

Rafael Monteverde, however, had a very different perspective on life. To him, his path had always been clear. He had already made plans to return to the woman he still loved, his ex-wife, who had always been his true heart's desire. It was a decision rooted in both love and duty, and Rafael believed that this was the way his life should go-back to the familiar, to the woman who knew him best.

His world had always been structured, filled with expectations that came with his position in life. As a successful businessman with a reputation to uphold, everything in his life had a place, and nothing was left to chance. But everything changed the day his boss, a man he deeply respected, gave him an ultimatum.

"Rafael," his boss had said, his voice as calm and deliberate as ever. "You need to marry Aurora Valderama."

At first, Rafael thought he must have misheard. But the look in his boss's eyes was unwavering, and the weight of the words hung heavily in the air. Aurora was the only daughter of one of the most influential men in their business circle, and her father had always trusted Rafael. The request, or rather, the command, was not something he could ignore.

"She's to be your wife. There's no room for negotiation."

The pressure was undeniable. Rafael had worked tirelessly to build his career, and he wasn't about to throw it all away. He had his plans-plans that included returning to the arms of his ex-wife. But his boss's request was not something he could easily refuse. Refusing could cost him everything.

Aurora, innocent in her pursuit, didn't know the weight of the situation she was stepping into. Rafael had no intention of falling for her. He had already given his heart to someone else. Yet, here he was, being forced into a marriage he hadn't asked for, to a woman he didn't love.

But one thing Rafael knew with certainty-if he agreed, someone would be hurt. The love he still carried for his ex-wife, the loyalty he owed her, would clash with the obligation placed upon him. And Aurora, despite all her dreams and desires, would unknowingly walk into a life where her love would never be enough.

The stage was set. And in the shadows, emotions were already running high, waiting to explode.
