Chapter 5 The Strange Woman

ELENA'S POV

After some minutes of painting and making myself look attractive to the audience, I was released and was ready to go to the arena where the party was held. I looked gorgeous in my new outfit, so I had no shame expressing myself to the guests.

"How do I look?" I asked.

"Wow, you look astounding," the designer said.

"Okay, I will go now. "I think that the bodyguard has been sent to call me", I said.

"Yes, I think you can go okay" she said.

I felt so pampered like the way the bodyguard opened the door for me to leave right before him, but I didn't condone it and always told him to stop because I really didn't like it. Finally, we got to the grand hall where the party was being held, so I entered, and it was like I kept them waiting as soon as I came in the music was being played. Suddenly, I was called by my mom to officially introduce myself to the family. Firstly, I started with my stepfather's minister sparks.

"Well, I'm your stepfather, okay, and this is your step-brother James, you both can get along. "I already know your name, so there Is no need to tell me what your name is, and also I want to tell you now that we are all currently family, okay" he said and gave me a smiling face. I looked endlessly at James, who was my step-brother, but he seemed not to be happy. He only faked the smile when I came to give him a handshake.

"What could be his problem? "Why is he like that today, doesn't he want this marriage?" I asked Anne. Anne was introduced to me as my personal maid, so I had to make her my friend.

"Well, I don't think so.I don't think he is that type of person who can't allow happiness to play a role in the life of another," she said.

"You think so too. "You are not the first person to tell me this. "This would be the second time I have heard it", I said.

"That's to tell you that he is really a good person. "I don't think he is happy now. "Maybe it could be entirely a different thing that would make him down and also with some of his friends drinking," Anne said.

"But if I may ask, what about his mom, is she late or something?" I asked.

"Not at all. "His mom did a really terrible thing, so she was chased out of the family because the mayor didn't bear it and, since then, he hasn't allowed her to come back to his house," she said.

"How terrible would such a thing be for him to just chase her just like that without thinking twice?" I said, but she didn't say anything. I kept my curiosity aside and talked to her and brought up a conversation about something else. As Anne and I conversed about different things, it was wonderful to make new friends on my first day here. It was really something exciting. We talked to each other until James, my step-brother, passed. I walked up to him to get to know him more and introduce myself properly to him because I was in no condition to shy away like usual.

"Hi James, can I spend like ten minutes of your time?" I said.

"Am Rushing to somewhere important? Okay, can we talk about that some other time? It's critical, and I can't even waste up to ten seconds with you. "Please, I will talk to you next time," he said.

"But you sound like if something is about to go wrong, is anything the problem I can be of help, okay" I said.

"Well, right now, the only help you could be for me now is for you to just get your ass seated okay. I am in no mood to spend much of my time okay. Like I said before, I am going to be someone influential. "I have something more important than this conversation you are trying to create", he sounded rude. I had to let him be because he sounded weird, and it was as if the things he was going to do would be something that, if it wasn't taken care of immediately, it would cause damage.

"Is he okay? ""Do you suspect anything like a sense of danger in the house?" I asked.

"Not at all, why do you ask?" Anne asked me.

"He was acting weird when I tried talking to him. "I hope all is okay," I said.

"Well, I can't tell from here" Anne said.

"And also, I was willing to ask you something," I said.

"Okay, what's that?" she replied.

"Have you noticed the woman putting on a black outfit and also a black scarf to cover her face? "I think she is there for something but can't get it easily, so she is roaming about everywhere looking for it and I also think she is following me and I don't even know her from anywhere it is unclear to me why she is following me around" I said.

"I haven't noticed any woman, but since you said she has been following you around, could she be here now?" Anne asked.

"I don't think so, but when I next set my eyes on her, I would draw an alarm for you to see if you could know anything about her", I said. I don't really know why she is following me. I need to figure out why she is following me. Does she know me from anywhere or what? Go
