Looking back though, I observed my targets, just like how I had done every day after class for the past 7 days. The two men were shockingly handsome twins - Mike and Mark. But other than their looks, electric blue eyes and lean muscular physiques, they were nothing special. I had run into Mike intentionally to test how strong he was, but he just flopped on the floor like a child. It was either they were exceptional actors or my mission was simpler than I thought. The boys weren't even aware of there being Werewolves amongst them.
After making sure that there was nothing wrong or unusual today, I walked out of the classroom to see the last face I wanted to see today - Betty. The class bully who thought she could bully the newbie - me. She was the daughter of the Beta of some tribe, and was used to getting her way and getting the hottest boys. Apparently she had taken a liking to Mike, and she saw me as a threat, funny how those words hit the mark.
After the lesson I taught her though, she knew to ignore me when I passed, Beta or not, she wasn't my match. I left school in my black hoodie and shredded jeans feeling a bit uncomfortable and headed straight to the woods that bordered the small town the Twins lived in. I had made my home there, and it helped me to escape from prying eyes, or stalkers. The woods would always be home to me, but that was not the only reason I stayed close to the woods, the Twins also lived in a small cottage, just after the clearing of the woods, so it was easier to watch them.
It was my first time leaving the Pack but I took everything in stride. I walked past the rows of houses and into the woods, then I started to run. Everyday by 4pm, I had to get to a designated area and wait for an hour so as to get the death order to finally kill the Twins. During the past week, I had wasted an hour of time waiting for a messenger that never came, but this time I smelt him before I saw him.
"Dylan!"
I shouted as I tore through the forests and into the clearing to see my childhood friend Dylan with two masked people in black robes. I focused my attention on the strange duo at once. One was quite tall, while the other was slender and petite.
"Eve, how have you been doing?, the pack misses you", said Dylan as he smiled and opened his arms for a hug. I roll my eyes at the gesture but still give the big man a hug. Pushing back gently I untangle myself and turn to face the masked people, as I asked;
"Who are they?"
"Oh, they are Vampires, apparently the short one will be joining you for your mission tonight."
I was stunned by the information for a while. Firstly, Vampires and Werewolves never worked together, and only in dire situations did we set aside our differences to ever work together. If my mission to kill the Twins was taken so critically by the Lycans and Vampires, why send me - the daughter of a park warrior to finish it, even as a punishment. It was then I realised how dangerous and important this mission might be. Dylan looked at me worriedly, but I just sent him a mind link message;
"[It's ok, I knew this mission was fishy from the beginning, I'll be careful]."
"[Alright dear]", was all he used to reply, then I smiled as I thought of the second fact - the mission was tonight, meaning the death order had been passed.
After a while, Dylan and the tall Vampire left the clearing, but not before Dylan gave me one last bear hug, and a mental warning not to trust the Vampire - as if I would ever trust those bloodsucking vermin. Then with a shrug I head over to my hideout and wait for night, ignoring the Vampire that followed me like a shadow. If all went as planned tonight then I wouldn't even need to work together with the vermin, so I just focused on the next important thing as I snarled - Lunch.
.....
The cottage of the twins was quite beautiful at night, with ethereal lights that gave it a unique look, despite its aging state. The woods around the cottage were silent as usual, as no animals dared to come near the cottage.
The Twins lived with their guardian, an old woman by the name of Ursula, she looked like an ordinary elder from afar just like the Twins, but she was the most suspicious among all three, because she was a witch. I hadn't confirmed my guess, but I was 80% sure, as long as she wasn't a High witch though, then it could still be settled.
The Vampire stood on a tree branch while I looked at the cottage from afar, the Twins were cutting wood outside and everything seemed in place. It was time...
I wasn't the first to move, instead the masked Vampire jumped from the tree branch, gliding in the air and landed a few metres to the cottage. Though a few metres to a Vampire might as well have been right in front of the cottage - turning to a blur she lunged at the stunned twins and I braced myself for the upcoming carnage when I heard a soft voice.
"Pruseo"
A bright light and the Vampire flew back the way it came, like a loose bag of sand, tumbling in the air and slamming into a tree, before it sled down. I was stunned, the flash of light, the soft voice that I could hear so close despite the distance, the repelling force that threw the Vampire back. All just came together to form a thought in my head.
High Witch.
The masked Vampire stood up, as if she hadn't just been hurled through the air and almost broken a tree with her body. Vampires weren't known for their sturdy body, but elder Vampires were on a different grade of speed and strength. So the petite masked Vampire should be the blood of an elder Vampire or an elder Vampire itself - the whole situation was getting more and more confusing, what would be so important that an Elder was being sent to take care of?. Then it dawned on me, my job wasn't to kill the twins, it was to monitor them until the Vampire came to kill them.
My thoughts were interrupted though when the door of the cottage silently opened, and a figure stepped through. It was the old woman - Ursula who acted as the guardian for the twins, but as she took a step out of the cottage, she started to change. It was hard to notice at first, a few wrinkles smoothing, back getting straighter, but then her hair turned from gray to a shining silver and her steps grew lighter. In no time, a middle-aged beauty stood in front of the twins, who just stood there, stunned. Then she spoke;
"So it was a Vampire who had been spying on me and the Twins for the past week, I could have sworn I smelt a wolf though, how did you locate us?." Then turning to the Twins as if she couldn't be bothered to hear the answer, she said, "You two, run as far away from here as possible, I'll come get you after I kill this thing."
