The party was being held in the pack house - the biggest building in our settlement and home of our Alpha. Wearing a silver gown that my father had gotten for me, I looked in the mirror and found myself staring back. I was 5,9 feet tall, with an ample bust and a slender frame that curved at my hips, my full lips and small, sharp nose just gave me a slightly more than average look and my white hair was tied up in a bun. I disdained putting make-up like all the other females who chose to go to school, talking about the latest trends or the hottest were-boys. I was a warrior through and through, and the slit I made at the corner of my dress was to give my legs more freedom - gowns made me feel caged.
.....
It was rare to see the pack house so full of people and lights. A mansion of its own right, the weather beaten pillars told a story of their own, of the history of our Luminous pack.
Most people moved in pairs, mates or friends and it hurt me a bit that I hadn't found my mate. I couldn't even stay close to Dylan tonight because I didn't want to come between him and his mate. I was taken as an anomaly in the tribe, since I hardly walked with the females and the males were too stuck up for me to tolerate without bashing their heads in. And ironically, I was too wild for them, only Dylan saw me as a friend, well him and one other person, but I would rather be alone than being with him.
Taking a deep breath, I walked into the hall and waited for the hundreds of stares that would focus on me as I entered. I might not have had friends, but I did have a lot of admirers. Whether I liked it or not, I was seen as beautiful, but I didn't like the thought of being someone's toy, so I created my wild persona, to keep the boys away.
But the stares did not come, instead a certain Man caught my eyes. Or rather, everyone's eyes.
He was the center of attention, with his groomed black as ink hair, electric blue eyes and devastatingly handsome features, every eye in the hall was turned to him, male or female and he took the stares in stride. The wild aura emitting from his every move was the only sign that there was a deadly killer hiding in that sexy body covered by a black suit. I felt my knees buckle slightly when he turned to stare at me, then the next moment he looked away, allowing me to take in the breath I didn't know I was holding.
I once thought that Alpha Terris was the epitome of masculine superiority, but Prince Luther once more rewrote every thought I had, stealing the show from our Alpha who just sat, staring coldly.
Not one to be mesmerized for more than a second, I shook my head and went to a corner, suddenly thankfully for all attention being on the Lycan Prince. I could at last survey the crowd and I saw some new faces, most likely Lycan guards for the Prince, not that anybody would be stupid enough to attack him. But one of them stood out from all the guards, in a pure white suit and a piercing image of Luther.
"cink cink cink"
The sound of a glass ringing silenced the murmuring crowd as Alpha Terris stood up to address the pack in his blue suit;
"As you all know, I am not one for many words, this party is held in honour of our coming king, Prince Luther. And he would like to say a few words before we continue our merriment".
Then with a shift, Alpha Terris made way for Luther to move forward and speak;
"It is with great pleasure I stand before you all, warriors, great men and women of this powerful pack. I am honored by this ceremony and pray the Moon goddess continues to make you flourish. Without further Ado, let the party continue".
The speech was received with a cheer from the crowd. Luther was not only a deadly killer, but also a smooth talker, the amount of ladies swooning at the moment was at least 70%. Shaking my head, I stood up - with the speech over, I was free to go home, after all I had nothing else to do, I just had to excuse myself. But a figure blocked my path, and looking up to see who the person was, a pair of electric blue eyes was staring right at my chest.
Julian, the son of Luther and head of the royal guard, towered over me. He was just like his father, a perfect specimen of a man, but only in the outward appearance. I could barely keep the disgust from showing on my face as I remembered how my mother died due to the recklessness of these men.
"I wish to pass", I said, almost snarling.
"Oh my beautiful maiden, why leave so early, the party is just starting", replied Julian with a smile. For any other girl, she would have been smitten, but it took all I had not to slap this bastard.
"Out of my way", I said this time with a snarl, to which Julian raised an eyebrow. Then he smiled and held my shoulder saying;
"Don't act all feisty to me, I have seen better acting from my maids. I am your liege..."
I couldn't hold it in again, I shrugged off his hand, then spun around to give Luther a devastating kick to his jaw. The Lycan reacted swiftly, but I was faster and too close, the kick grazed his jaw and he stumbled back. It all happened in a moment and my heart was beating so fast and loud that I almost couldn't hear gasps from the crowd. It took a second for me to adjust my breathing and start to walk off, but after a few steps an aura that made my heart turn cold and chills run down my spine fell on me.
"One more step and I will kill you where you stand, how dare you touch my son?". Said the Lycan Prince Luther.
