Chapter 1 Rejected mate

TWIST OF EVENTS.

PAULA.

"Mate". I heard a loud growl from behind me and stiffened, my body reacting on it's own as I began perceiving the most delicious scent ever.

My wolf flipped happily in my head, nudging me to turn around and figure out who it was, and as soon as I did, my breath hitched in my throat, my heart racing as a spark of recognition burned in my chest.

I reared backwards in shock, my eyes widening. I was mated to Andre? Heir to our pack and brother to him?

Warmth spread through my body as my heart hammered against my ribs, mixture of happiness and disbelief swimming through me

I felt a magnetic pull towards him, one I couldn't resist and he seemed to feel it too for he clenched his hands into fists and stormed over to me, his blue orbs sparkling under the moonlight and filled with such intensity that made me gulp down the saliva gathering in my mouth, my legs weak.

"Mate?". He called again, more like asking this time as he stood face to face with me, his heavy breath landing on my face and causing delicious shivers down my spine.

I wanted to merge our bodies together but held myself, when I felt his warm, rough hand slip around my waist, as he pulled me further into him before claiming my lips in his.

I let out a moan, returning his kiss and wrapping my hands around his neck, feeling complete and ecstatic. I finally found my mate and it was with the other guy I felt attracted to in this whole pack, after Nathan's death.

"Andre?" A tiny, soft voice suddenly yelled and we both froze, before breaking off the kiss, Andre's hands still wrapped around my waist. I whined in protest and he chuckled, before giving me a peck and turning to glance back.

"How dare you hook up with that nobody again?" The voice screamed and I looked to see it was Rita. Andre's childhood friend, supposed lover and my ex-best friend who was always throwing herself at him.

She moved closer to us, her eyes directed at me, filled with piercing glares like she wanted me dead. I didn't cower or back down, instead I returned her glare.

Who the hell did she think she was?

"She is not worth your time, Andre. Let it just be a fling an....". Andre didn't even let her complete her sentence when he caught in with a sneer.

"Watch your words, that's my mate you are talking to".

Rita let out a gasp, the thin lines of her brows jumping up in surprise as she moved backwards, shaking her head sideways in denial.

"No, no, no. It can't be". She muttered, all colors draining from her face. I felt satisfaction run through me and hid a grin, especially when she turned around and ran away in tears.

Andre and I were now alone and for some reasons, my stomach tightened, beads of sweats gathered on my forehead.

"So who do we have here?" Andre teased, as he placed his forehead against me. I held back my laughter, leaning further into his embrace, my hands on his chest.

"Your mate". I responded, biting on my lower lips hard, aware of his stare on me. He let out a groan, before capturing my lips in his again. I deepened the kiss and brushed my hand into his dark hair, loving the feel of the texture in my hand as I stroked it.

His hands moved to grab my butt, squeezing it and I let out a moan, especially when he left my lips alone and moved to my neck, placing kisses on them.

"I accept you, Paula Vaughn, as my mate and Future Luna". He whispered against my ear, biting my earlobe in the process. My body went rigid and I backed away from him stunned.

"Future Luna?" I inquired in disbelief and he nodded, the side of his lips curling up.

'Was the moongoddess finally smiling at me, after all I had been through?'

"I would be crowned in a month's time so who is a better fit for a Luna, if not my mate?" He questioned and I felt my heart soaring in happiness.

Tears gathered at the brim of my eyes as I sniffled before running into his open arms and hugging him tightly.

"I accept you too".

It's been 48 hours now since I discovered Andre was my mate, and it had been a blur of joy and disbelief. Everytime I glanced at Andre, my heart soared with happiness.

Most people weren't surprised when it was announced, because our little fling wasn't really that much of a secret.

Andre's parents were killed about a year ago with his little sister brutally raped. Till this moment, the culprit was on the loose and was being looked for.

I felt bad for Andre when I heard because I knew how it felt too. My parents were murdered as well so it has just been me and my rebellious twin brother who loved to make my life miserable.

"And how is the future Luna of the werewolf clan doing?"

'Think of the devil and he shall appear'. I thought, taking a deep breath before faking a smile and turning to look at my twin.

We looked exactly the same if not for the hair difference and the fact he was male and I was female.

He had this evil glee in his eyes, which was twitching every now and then, sending shivers down my spine.

I was about to reply him when someone out of nowhere, grabbed me from behind by my arm forcefully, his fingers piercing deep into my flesh.

I winced in pain,and turned around to find it was Andre. A smile appeared on my face but disappeared immediately as I noticed he wasn't smiling and seemed to be glaring instead.

"Andre?" I called, feeling a sense of dread go through me. He ignored me and dragged me with him to the center of the stage where everyone gathered.

'What was he doing?' I pondered and from the corner of my eyes, caught Rita looking at me with an evil smirk dancing on her face.

Fear clawed at my heart immediately, my palms growing sweaty and my legs wobbling. Andre was looking at me like he wanted to kill me and I felt a lump at the back of my throat.

"I, Andre Knight, reject you Paula Vaughn, as my mate and Future Luna". He growled, earning a loud gasp from everyone.
