Chapter 3 One night stand

PAUL.

'Nowhere to be found?" The world seemed to tilt slightly, my eyes rolling to the back of my head as I trembled.

"How come? Did Paul abandon me?" I wondered, my mind swirling.

"But he promised we would be together forever". I thought, feeling my heart ache again as I cried.

"Aww, your darling twin abandoned you". My sister mocked and I was about to glare at her when someone dashed in.

I heard everyone gasp and I rose my head in curiosity only to see Paul. My mouth dropped, my heart melting in relief.

"Bless the moongoddess!". I cried out, excitement bursting through my chest. I was sure Paul had a way, he was even holding papers, which was probably proof that we were innocent right?

Rita's face transformed into a scowl and I gave her a victorious smile, but then noticed something strange.

Paul was winking at her, then the tension in her jaw began to ease, the corners of her mouth twitched as if resisting the pull of a smile.

Her furrowed brows smoothed out, the harshness in her gaze softening. Her eyes then lit up, the scowl disappearing entirely as she glanced at me and snorted.

For some unknown reasons, I suddenly felt an ominous aura surrounding me and took my eyes to the ground. I hope Paul would do the right thing and the gesture I saw was nothing, but who was I kidding?

Andre moved away from me, getting to his feet and walking towards Paul who had his head bowed.

"Where were you earlier and where the fuck are you coming from?" Andre demanded from him, in a cold tone that would send shivers down anyone's spine.

I could hear how fast Paul's heart was beating and the sound of him gulping down his saliva as he tried to form words.

"Yo-your majesty". He stuttered and gave him the piece of paper he was holding. Andre looked at him for awhile, scanning him with his scary eyes before snatching the paper from him and turning around.

He looked at me, his eyes melting but when I blinked, it was just as if I imagined it. Andre took in a deep breath, as if preparing himself before opening the paper.

As he read quick, so did my heart beat fast.

'Oh moon goddess! Please let whatever was in there vindicate me'. I thought but before I could calm myself, Andre let out a terrifying growl before squeezing the paper in his hand and tossing it to my face.

I dodged and the paper missed.

"How could you kill my father with your parents?" He yelled and then went ahead to tell everyone lies or should I say what Paul gave him.

I watched Rita give him an acknowledgement nod and the betrayal hit me more than ever.

Paul did this? No, it couldn't be. He's my twin, he wouldn't hurt me. Perhaps everything was just a misunderstanding and I should be calm.

I mean my brother wouldn't betray me, then side with my enemy after right? There has to be some sort of mistake. But then, remembering the way he winked at her and the ease in her smug grin all fit.

My chest tightened, and I could feel the world titling behind me, especially when Andre said;

"The traitor called Paula here and her parents poisoned my family by hiring a maid to do so. Paul over here". He suddenly stopped, pointing to my brother.

"Recorded the whole thing and the paper he brought me was written in Paula's handwriting informing the maid to go on with their plans". He explained and I let out a gasp, my eyes widening, same as the massive crowd, who began saying horrible things about me.

"So all these while she was pretending?"

"I always knew something was up with her. I mean no one can be that perfect as she acts". A familiar voice that always claimed to be my friend whispered.

I bit my lower lips, trembling hard as I heard my friends and close pack members all say horrible things about me.

As if that wasn't worse enough, they began to pick up stuff and hurl at me. I immediately tried to cover myself, but all to no avail as eggs and rotten stuff, hit me from different directions, causing me pains and to be smelly.

Tears pricked the corner of my eyes and I sniffled, trying not to cry.

"Due to all the evidence gathered, I will be banishing her, Paula James, from this pack to be a rogue". Andre said and I immediately dropped my hand, screaming no and trying to reach forward for him when Paul came out of nowhere and kicked me in the stomach.

I coughed out blood, clutching my stomach and falling to the ground heavily, trying hard not to choke on my saliva as pain twisted my heart around.

I fell to the ground heavily, crying as I whispered.

"I d-didn't d-do it" but no one listened to me. Rather, Andre came and knelt Infront of me, then poked my forehead with his finger.

"My brother you guys killed wasn't enough for you? You wanted to kill me too?" He accused and my jaw dropped.

Murmurs began again.

"She was the one who killed Nathan?".

"After claiming to love him so much? Unbelievable".

"Some people sure can pretend. I still can't believe it". Then Paul interrupted.

"Yes, it's true. She never really loved him. She was always targeting our soon-to-be Alpha because she knows the position would be his". My breath hitched, my eyes widening as the words left his lips.

How could brother do this to me?

"Paul...." I whispered, the word trembling on my lips, my voice barely audible as I searched his face for something. Either guilt or remorse, but all I got was a cold detachment that made my stomach turn.

His gaze was filled with hatred, like he wanted to kill and ruin me. People continued to talk and I cried, feeling helpless and sad, no one believed me, no matter how I tried to vindicate myself.

Andre didn't give me a listening ear either and just rejected me.

"You are hereby banished from this pack". He said to me and then departed without a backward glance, his guards and the people departing too.

I tried calling out to Paul but he left too, leaving me all alone with Rita, who moved closer to me, bent to my face before laughing manically, obviously enjoying my discomfort.

It was just like a knife was being twisted into my guts, as I couldn't believe she was once my friend. Yes, Rita and I used to be so close but then she got jealous of me, I guess.

"If you know what is good for you, you would leave this pack and never return " She commented, rolling her eyes at me with disgust, then departing as well.

I watched them all leave, then made my choice since no one wanted me.

"Mate". My wolf, Lia growled in my head and just then, I began perceiving the most alluring scent ever.

My feet on their accord began to move as delicious tingles went all over my body. I had another mate?

'What was this?' I wondered.

I wanted to reach out to whom this person was and soon, set my eyes on a tall, dark figure that stood hidden in a corner. I moved closer and;

"Mate!". I called possessively, wanting to know who this was when he turned around and my eyes widened in shock, my breath hitching in my throat as our eyes met.

"Nathan?" I called out in disbelief, rearing backwards in shock as I shook my head sideways.

'no, no, it couldn't be, this wasn't possible'. My senses yelled at me as he ran his stormy, grey eyes all over my body, looking at me like he could see my soul, before furrowing his eyebrows at me.

"Who are you, do you know me?" He inquired and I could feel my world crashing down as my jaw dropped.

'What did he just say?' I pondered, my heart racing heavily or didn't he recognize me?
