Chapter 5 Rejected Luna (2)

Emily's POV

"I want to relay a message to you," Kiara said, pulling out a round bottle nestled in the back of her jeans pocket.

Before she had a chance to straighten up to pour it on me, I acted. I pushed her backward, just enough to unbalance her, and snatched the bottle from her.

Her eyes widened in surprise, but there was no time for words, only the tension in the air as I held the object in my grasp.

"Give it back!" She barked. I frowned, wanted to shut my door but she stood in between. I opened the bottle cover and smelt it, my frown deepened while she had this smug expression before crossing her arms.

"Are you serious?" I scoffed in disbelief. It was saltwater, used to deactivate witchcraft. She hissed, walking backward to create distance between us.

"The spell you cast on Jackson will be broken soon. I promise you, w!tch. I won't sit by and watch you take away my man from," she blared with venom.

I gawked at her in disbelief, what man? She can have him if she wants to. That doesn't mean that I'll let her silly tricks like this happen again.

I was about to give her a piece of my mind but got interrupted by a loud thud.

My heart skipped a beat as I covered my ears with my eyes widened as I yelped. Our head whipped towards the source 0f the noise. Without realizing it, the saltwater bottle lost my grip and we both rushed in that direction.

I held the edges of my gown in order to run freely. Soon, we arrived at the throne room and I froze in my spot.

My stomach dropped when I saw it-the throne room, once imposing and grand, now reduced to rubble. The destruction seemed almost deliberate, as if the room had crumbled under its own dark weight. How did it get demolished?

"What happened here?!" Jack growled, startling me. Mason and Zaza were present beside him, Zaza was the gamma.

Some guards were injured, those who were guarding the door. I was overwhelmed with no words coming out of my mouth.

"No one knows how it happened, your Majesty. The maids just left after cleaning the whole place and then, we heard the cracking sound of the blocks. Before we knew what was happening, the walls began falling," the guard explained.

My eyes fixed on the debris before my head stung. I held it as I squinted, letting out a soft groans.

Opening my eyes back, I saw Kiara standing amidst the wreckage. Half of her face looked burnt, and her midnight orbs looked out of life.

My chest tightened, and the vision got disrupted when Jack's loud growl snapped me out.

"How is that even possible?!"

I turned to Kiara, my heart pounding with a mix of confusion and disbelief. Confused because I don't know what the vision meant, and disbelief because it was Kiara whom I saw.

There were noises from everyone with my eyes still on her.

'Was she involved or this vision meant something else?' I thought.

Soon, Lady Elena came to her before I could make eye-contact with Kiara who might have felt someone was staring at her out of instinct.

"Are you hurt?" Lady Elena asked dotingly.

I averted my eyes from them. No, this can't be a coincidence, Maddy mentioned that the throne could have been tampered on.

"I'm fine, your highness. You worry too much about me," Kiara responded, trying to make me hear them. Her tone faking the perfect docility made me roll my eyes.

Staying here would only confuse me even more, plus I need to think and understand what this vision meant.

I turned around to walk away but Kiara suddenly blocked me.

"I need to see you, Emily," she stopped me. We both maintained eye-contact, I wanted to read her through her eyes but she revealed none.

"Are you involved in this?" I blurted out sharply before I could even stop myself.

Her calm demeanor only fueled my annoyance, her expression unreadable.

She tilted her head slightly, a glimmer of playfulness in her eyes.

"Really?" She chuckled, "You're starting to be suspicious of me now, huh? I was with you remember?" she let out another round of mockery laugh.

I opened my mouth to retort, but my words stuck in my throat, caught somewhere between indignation and doubt.

Before I could gather my thoughts, I sighted Maddy. I rolled my eyes at Kiara before walking toward Maddy.

But a voice called me from behind.

"Emily," It turns out to be Jack, who had called me. I swallowed my saliva, fidgeting. For no reason, I was nervous.

He walked closer to me. "Don't worry about this. I'll make sure to take care of it all, okay?"

"I'll be in my room," I whispered before walking past him without acknowledging his words.

And I was grateful that he didn't try to stop me. I was still puzzled with what could've made him change toward me.
