Chapter 4 Worst Situations

AVA'S POV

I couldn't believe it. I was finally pregnant. I was finally going to carry Blair's child. I nearly screamed for joy as I stared at the pregnancy results in shock and disbelief. It looked so beautiful... so unreal.

I unconsciously placed my hand over my tummy at the thought of a little one growing inside of me. We did it, Blair. I couldn't wait to see how excited he would be to receive this news.

"I know you're happy, Ava but let me remind you that because this is your first pregnancy, you need to avoid anything and everything that could stress you out. You need to be careful so that you don't get a miscarriage. Remember that your health comes first. If you're healthy, then your baby will be healthy." She explained and I nodded in excitement as I folded the results up before placing them into my bag.

"Thank you so much, doctor. I can't wait to let Blair know of this good news!" I said, my voice full of vigor and excitement, causing her to chuckle at my impatience.

"Sure sure. You can go now, you've been through so much." She replied and I nodded as I walked out of the hospital with the brightest smile I ever had.

I got into the car and decided to drive home when a notification dropped on my phone about Blake's birthday.

"It's in two days?" I yelled in surprise as I rubbed my temples and thought for a while. This could be the perfect birthday surprise for him.

Instead of telling him now, why don't I just tell him on his birthday? He'd be so joyous and excited. I giggled in happiness as I imagined his reaction on that day. I could finally get his mother off my neck concerning giving them a child.

I returned home but Blair had already left the house, leaving just me in the big house. Because of the good news I had received, I was full of energy and vigor so I took it upon myself to be a good housewife and tidied the whole house.

When I was done, I returned to the room, packed up the pregnancy results into a present, and hid it in my closet. I was too excited that I didn't realize when the day flew by so quickly. Someone rang on the door and I rushed to get it, thinking it was Blair, but when I opened the door, my face fell.

It was Melbourne, again.

"Hey sissy." She greeted me with a devious grin as she pushed past me and I scowled at her presence in the house.

What a mood sourer.

"What are you doing here again, Mel? My mother-in-law isn't here today. Who did you come to see today?" I asked in annoyance and she chuckled as she sat down with her legs crossed.

"Take a chill pill, Ava. I didn't come here for my mother-in-law. I came here for you. I wanted to say hi! Is that a problem?" She purred as she relaxed and I rolled my eyes in annoyance.

"Go straight to the point, Mel. What do you want?" I spat and she grinned widely as her eyes met mine in a flash.

"I just wanted to warn you to be prepared. But I doubt you would be. What's about to hit you might hurt more than getting hit by a truck." She said and I frowned in response at her words as she giggled softly.

"What are you talking about?"

"Oh, Ava. You're so gullible as always. Don't tell me you believed my words. I was just toying with you!" She giggled loudly as she spoke and I narrowed my eyes at her. "I'll leave now. Oh, and say hi to your lovely husband for me."

She patted my shoulder lightly before she walked out, leaving me confused as I pondered on her words. What did she mean? What the hell was she up to?

"Mel..." She had left the house already before I could get a chance to ask her those questions but I knew deep down that she wouldn't tell me. Which meant that I had to find out for myself.

"After Blair's birthday. I'll do my investigation." I mumbled to myself as I returned to the room and kept on pondering her words.

Days ran by and it was finally the day I had been waiting for patiently. It was Blair's birthday, and I was so excited about it. He wanted to host the birthday party at home, and he invited all his friends, so I took my time and decorated the house to his liking.

Evening came and the guests started pouring in while I ushered them in with a smile. Soon, the house was packed with people, and I found myself serving them wine and snacks to munch on. It was almost like I was the maid of the house and I could see Blair's mom's smug expression as she saw me being ordered around.

My heart sank when Mel arrived at the party, dressed in the prettiest and most luxurious gown, and I hadn't even had the time to change into my gown yet. Just as I expected, Mel was among every other person who ordered me around like a slave.

I finally had free time to myself and I used the chance to escape the party and get dressed so that I could give Blair my gift. I returned downstairs to see that he had just arrived and everyone sang him a birthday song.

His friends started to give him gifts and when I moved forward, I was stopped in my tracks when his mother called the attention of everyone as she took Melbourne's hand.

"Everyone, I have a gift for my son today. What is the gift, you ask? Well, congratulations, Blair, you're finally going to be a father! Melbourne is pregnant for you!" She announced and the whole room cheered in excitement while I stood frozen in my tracks.

I could see the happiness and excitement on his face as I tried to make sense of what was going on. Melbourne was pregnant for my husband?
