Maya walked through the school hallway, her eyes scanning the crowded corridor for any sign of her friends. She had just transferred yo this new school, and everything still felt unfamiliar. The buildings seemed taller, the classrooms more modern, and the students more...intimidating.
As she turned a corner, she collided with a tall, broad shouldered boy. Apologetic, Maya looked up to meet the boy's gaze.
Alex Chen's piercing eyes stared back at her, his expression unreadable. Maya's heart skipped a bit as she realized who he was -the same boy she had rejected in past.
"Alex" she said trying to sound calm.
"Maya" he replied, his voice low and smooth. "Long time no see."
She nodded, feeling a surge of unease. She hadn't expected to run into him here, especially not after what happened between them.
As they stood there, the tension between them was palpable. Maya couldn't help but wonder what Alex was thinking, whether he still harbored resentment towards her.
The bell rang Breaking the silence. "Looks like fate has a way of bringing us together" Alex said, his eyes glinting with amusement.
Maya's heart skipped a beat at the undertone in his voice. What did he mean by that? Was he hinting at something more?
As they parted ways, Maya couldn't shake off the feeling that she was in for a wild ride.
