CHAPTER 3

P.O.V Salvatore Gianluca

I did not tolerate those who owed me debt; To me, they were rotten beings that simply didn't exist. On my blacklist was framed the name of Andrew Thompson, the damned inveterate gambler who gambled as if he had the world at his feet. And he didn't mind offering anything.

He had given her until midnight, but her silence was deafening. Without any call from him, I had no choice: I had to finish him off. I put on my overcoat and leather gloves, I hated collecting personally, but he owed me too much money.

I called a couple of men and gave them clear instructions.

"Let's go to Thompson's house. As soon as they listen to my orders, they end it all. Shoot at what you find; I don't care who's there. Understood? "

"Yes, sir," my men replied in unison. I trusted them; They were tough twins who never failed their boss.

We got into my dark car and drove down the road to my dear debtor's mansion. As I drove, I readied my gun and moved my neck in circles, trying to relax before committing any atrocities.

I rang the bell on the large brown wooden door, but no one answered. That had surely escaped, though I knew there was no way he was going to get rid of me. He would find it, even if he had to look for it under the stones.

I insisted again, but the situation did not change, no one opened the door. It was time to resort to brute force. Zane and Kane raised their guns and, with a few shots, blew up the lock. In the smoke of the gunpowder, I banged loudly on the door and crossed the threshold. I coughed a little, but it didn't matter; He was determined.

I drew my gun and began to move forward in the darkness. There was no one there. That damn guy had run away, but he wasn't going to leave the search halfway.

"You, go back. I'll go to the second floor," I ordered. I turned on a flashlight, and as I took my first step up the stairs, I tripped over something on the floor.

I'd never shivered before, but that strange texture made me shudder. As I turned to the ground to see what was blocking my way, I found a wounded woman, submerged in a pool of blood. I bent down to take her pulse and felt an icy relief at the realization that she was still alive.

However, my skin crawled when I realized who it was... It was her, I had to keep her alive, it was the woman I was looking for, she was injured and seemed to be serious, I cursed to myself. It never crossed my mind that I would find her in those conditions.

Just then, the twins appeared and turned on the lights in the house.

"Sir, Thompson is nowhere to be found," Zane said, with an uneasy look.

"We searched the whole house, sir, but it looks like he fled. There are traces of blood and marked footprints on the floor leading to the garage door." Kane reinforced

When I realized that the woman was still alive and that her pulse was weak, I realized that he had been the one who had hurt her. That wretch would have to pay for what he had done.

"Put this woman in the car, do it immediately, she needs immediate attention; We must take her to the organization's hospital. If something happens to him, they pay me."

"Yes, sir!" They replied in unison. Carefully, they picked her up and carried her out of the house. If it wasn't taken care of soon, he would probably die.

While the twins took care of her. I walked over to the center table in the living room and saw a photo of Thompson hugging the woman. It was evident that she was his wife. Something had happened in that house, something very serious to have found her injured, almost dead. Damn wretch! I broke the glass of the frame and put the photo in my pocket.

The wretch should run away like a dog, and not only because of the money he owed me, but because he was quite sure that he had intended to murder his own wife. Anger bubbled up in me; I couldn't let him get away with it.

I got into the car with my men, I had to save Thompson's wife's life, because she would be my payment for what he owed me.

It had been a week since we found Roxanne Meyers. By that time, we had already unearthed everything about her, and what I discovered stunned me. That last time I went to the fertility clinic I had to put a knife to the doctor's neck to get him to give me the name of my child's carrier. That name I kept etched in my memory all the time.

Roxanne was still unresponsive, motionless in intermediate care. I had taken her to our private hospital, reserved it for my people, and there she was, under the care of my doctors, all at my service. I was a woman from a renowned family, with a brilliant academic record, but married to an imbecile whose business now belonged to me.

I sighed: gambling and substance ruined the most powerful men. And Thompson for my part, was lost, I would spare no expense until he made him pay.

"Doctor, how long do you think she can be like this for?" I asked, keeping my eyes fixed on her as the specialist checked her.

"I don't know for sure, but it's starting to show some reflexes. It may be soon, Mr. Gianluca. She should go to rest, she has been here a long time."

"I'm not tired," I replied firmly. "I will not move from his side. I couldn't do it, my instinct wouldn't allow me."
