Chapter 5 LOST AND FOUND FIVE

Chapter 5

"We're going to my friend's house later.." I stopped eating when Mom spoke. She had just entered the door, and this was the first thing she said to me.

"Mom.." I stood up and walked towards her, about to kiss her on the cheek, but she walked away quickly, so I couldn't do it.

I swallowed and stayed quiet. I don't feel welcome in this house. I should not have come with them; I should have just stayed in city.

"Hurry up and eat and get ready. They invited us for dinner." She said this strictly, and I just nodded.

"Mom, can I not go? I have something to..."

"You'll come. Don't be difficult, Cailegh." She took a glass of water and drank. Even though my heart felt heavy, I agreed.

I wanted to talk to Travis later, but we have plans. It's okay. I went upstairs to find something nice to wear.

I chose a simple white dress since we're going to the beach, so it's fine for me to wear that.

I wonder where Travis is right now, it's been 3 days since I last saw him because every time I try to visit him, he's not there. I don't want to ask because it's embarrassing, he hasn't agreed to help me remember things yet, so I don't want to bother him.

The only good thing that happened when I came here with my parents is that I met Travis. Besides being able to help me, he's handsome and has abs too, and...

Ugh, why am I thinking about him again?!

"Cailegh! Faster!" It was Mom's voice.

"Coming!" I put my hair over my shoulder before going out and looking for my flats. I almost tripped but luckily caught myself on the side. So clumsy.

When she saw me, she immediately went out, and I followed her. My dad was at the gate talking on the phone. Good thing they still have time for dinner like this, right? Why don't they have time for me?

I shook my head and pushed those thoughts away; it must be an important dinner, I guess.

The restaurant is within walking distance from our place; it's right by the beach. My parents went ahead while I quietly followed them.

We entered a seafood restaurant that I expected. They walked up and spoke to the receptionist before she led us to a table.

I sat down while my parents stayed in front of me. I didn't say anything and just looked at my phone.

"Sorry we're late." I lowered my phone and looked at who was coming, in front of us was an older lady with a man. When I looked closely, I realized it was Harris.

"Ris.." I called him. He looked surprised when he saw me and smiled.

"Hi Cai!" He smiled and turned to his side.

"Grandma, this is Cai." The old woman nodded at me, and I smiled back.

"You're here, come on. Take a seat." The old lady sat down in front of me while Harris sat next to me.

Harris was my friend when I was in America. He was with me when I first woke up without any memories. I forgot who he is, I forgot my name, and I forgot who I really am, but they don't want to let me remember my past.

We ate, and I was quiet. Harris was also silent. My parents and the old woman were talking, and I just listened.

"Is that her?" the old woman said.

"Yes, she is," my mom answered and looked at me.

"Cailegh, this is Catarina." My mom said, and I smiled at the old woman.

"Hello.." She didn't respond to what I said, so I looked back at my plate. Why is everyone so unfriendly?

"Okay, I know you already met Harris," my mom told me, so I nodded. I suddenly felt uneasy like something bad was going to happen.

"Harris, you know Cailegh for sure.." She turned to him.

"Yes Tita.." he replied. My mom folded her arms and looked at the old woman again and spoke.

"You two will get married. Soon." It felt like the world stopped when I heard this, and I couldn't speak. I blinked as if waiting for my mom to be joking, but she looked serious.

"Mom?" I gasped and looked at Harris, who was serious and looking at his grandmother.

"Yes, you will get married soon." My heart felt heavy with what I heard, and I bit my lip hard out of anger.

Is this still common nowadays? They are controlling me again, don't they plan to remind me of my past first? I'm tired of this. It's always what they want to happen that I have to follow...

"I'm sorry Mom but I have a boyfriend." I don't know why those words came out, they just slipped from my mouth, and I saw the shock on Mom's face.

"Stop it Cailegh, you can't fool us." You could see her irritation, but I just kept a straight face.

"Mom, it's true." I insisted. I didn't know how to defend what I said, but I didn't want to get married without remembering my past. I need to recover my memories first, I want my old self back.

"We'll talk as soon as possible again, I'm sorry about this." She apologized to the old woman, who just nodded and stood up.

"Come on Harris," she called my friend, who immediately followed her. Harris only smiled a little at me before following his grandmother out.

"Cailegh." I swallowed hard and turned to my mom, whose face was serious as she looked at me. You could see her irritation while my dad just shook his head at me.

"Mom.."

"Explain." She said this in a short and firm way.

"I'm sorry Mom but I already have a boyfriend."

"When did this happen? Why didn't you tell us?" Dad suddenly interrupted, making me think. Just when I'm about to say a lie, it wasn't even planned. Ugh, life.

"Uh, 6 months," I suddenly said. Mom gasped, and you could see her disappointment on her face.

"Your memories fade, but you still don't change; you still like to hide." Even though I was curious, I didn't speak. I wanted to know what she was saying, but I stayed quiet.

"You should let us meet this boyfriend of yours as soon as possible, understood? You have to get married and have a child already, you're twenty-seven. The calendar is leaving you behind, and if not, I'll let you marry Harris." She said this before standing up and leaving, with my dad following her as they walked out.

I stood up and went to the restaurant balcony. From there, I could see the peaceful sea and the stars in the sky. The sky was dark and full of stars.

I stayed there for a few minutes before deciding to leave and think by the beach. The cold air touched my skin, and I could smell the sea breeze as I got closer.

I took off my flats and let the water from the sea reach my feet, its coldness felt refreshing.

I walked along the beach, letting myself think.

I'm in big trouble right now. Why did I tell my parents about the boyfriend? I know they will look for him; now who will I introduce?

"Mom, stop it already! I told you I'm getting married soon." I stopped thinking when I heard a voice speaking.

I peeked out and left my spot to find the voice. I saw a man with his back to me, holding a phone and talking.

"Okay, I know, but I'm fine. I'm with her now, okay? Mom, really!" I bit my lip and stepped out of my place to see who it was. To my surprise, it was Travis-gosh! I missed him!

I just watched him while he talked on the phone. He still looked handsome to me even though he seemed annoyed with furrowed brows.

I almost slipped when he ran his hand through his messy hair.

"What?! No need, she's busy!" He turned around, clearly surprised to see me. I smiled and waved a little.

"What... You're here?! Mom!" He almost shouted into the phone but kept staring at me. I slowly lowered my hand and straightened up, that embarrassed me a bit.

"You what?" When he walked closer to me, my stomach twisted with an odd feeling. He still had his phone in his ear and kept talking.

"Okay, we'll come." He hung up his phone while looking into my eyes.

I jumped in surprise when he grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him. My eyes widened, and I held my breath at what he did.

"T...Trav..." I called him softly.

"Oh! You're right here! She must be my daughter-in-law, right?" He released me and made me giggle when his hand touched my waist as he pulled me closer.

"Uh, yes. Mom, I want you to meet my fiancé, Cailegh..."
