Chapter 5 Why Should I Marry You

The shop assistant didn't say anything and simply went to fetch the dresses.

Rose, of course, was also a woman, and she could feel the jealousy in the shop assistant's eyes. She frowned but didn't have time to dwell on it...

She turned to Kevin and said, "Why do you want me to try these dresses? I'm not going to do it!"

She didn't know what kind of person he was or what kind of strange thoughts he had. She didn't even know him, yet he had dragged her here.

Why had he suddenly brought her to a shop filled with wedding gowns and demanded she try them on?

Rose didn't understand his intentions, nor was she in the mood to try.

"I don't have time to waste. Go try them on now. After that, we're going to the civil affairs office to get our marriage certificate,"

Kevin said in a calm tone.

Rose froze at his words, staring at him in shock.

She rubbed her ear and said, "What did you say? I think I misheard."

"I don't have all day," Kevin replied coldly.

Rose was dumbfounded.

Then she laughed...

"Hahaha..."

"Hey, Mister! There's a saying: you can eat whatever you want, but you can't just say whatever comes to mind."

"I am not even familiar with you... Why should I marry you?"

"Or if this is some kind of joke, it's not funny at all! If you want to mess around, find someone else. I don't have time for this."

Rose looked at the man in front of her and said. She felt like he had lost his mind...

Dragging her from the hospital to a bridal shop and asking her to marry him? Was he serious?

"You slept with me and even got pregnant with my child. And now, you say you are familiar with me?" Kevin looked at her with a smirk that didn't reach his eyes, his tone filled with mockery.

"What kind of familiarity do you still want?"

"You..."

Rose glared at him but couldn't find the words to argue.

It was true that she had taken the initiative to seduce him that night after getting drunk... She wanted to hit herself for it now.

But she tried her best to stay composed.

"Yes, I know it was me who made the first move. But I was drunk. You weren't, right? You could have refused or pushed me away. It's not like I could have forced you, right? I am just a weak woman..."

Rose's voice was steady as she met his gaze.

She admitted her mistake, but he could have stopped it... What's more, it had been her first time. She had given it to this man...

She was the one who had lost out here, yet this man acted as if she had taken advantage of him...

Rose raised her eyebrows, her tone laced with mockery. "What? Cat got your tongue? You men are all the same, thinking with your lower half. Let me tell you, I don't have time to waste with you! I have things to do. So! Excuse me! I'll take my leave first."

She turned to leave, her face set with determination.

She had always known that men are the same. That's why she knew that anyone can be trusted but men.

"If you dare leave, don't blame me for using other methods,"

However, before she could even take a step out, the man's cold and low voice came from behind.

His tone sent a chill down her spine. Maybe because his aura was too overwhelming...

"You..." Rose turned back to glare at him. "What are you trying to do?"

"Why don't you take a look at this before you go?" Kevin took out some documents from his suit pocket and handed them to her.

Rose hesitated but eventually took them.

Her eyes scanned the pages, and the more she read, the more shocked she became.

The documents detailed her family's information-her address, her job, even her mother's food stall!

Seeing all this, Rose was stunned.

"How did he investigate my family so thoroughly in such a short time?" she thought, frozen in place. She knew he was rich and powerful by looking at his car and clothes.. But this...

She took a deep breath, trying to stay calm, and asked angrily, "What do you mean by this?"

"Nothing much. I just want you to understand that if you're not obedient, you won't be able to stay in this city," Kevin said indifferently.

"You... Are you threatening me?" she snapped.

Her eyes blazed with fury. She hated being threatened.

But Kevin's face remained calm, as though her reaction didn't matter to him.

"You can think of it that way," he raised his eyes and admitted coolly.

Rose glared at him, seething. How could this man be so shameless?

But she knew she had to calm down. Her father was still in the hospital, and she needed to pay his medical bills.

She couldn't afford to provoke this man.

Taking a deep breath, she decided to think carefully.

As they stared each other down, the shop assistant returned.

"Madam, this way, please," the assistant said politely.

"Go and try them on," Kevin ordered, looking away from her.

But Rose didn't move.

"Do you need me to help you?" Kevin leaned down to whisper in her ear.

When his warm breath brushed against her neck, Rose felt a jolt, like an electric current running through her body.

She quickly stepped back, raising her hands defensively in front of her chest.

"Shameless!" she spat, her face red with anger.

Kevin didn't reply, simply looking away.
