"Miss Reed, congratulations! You are pregnant," the doctor said, handing the test results to the woman sitting across from her.
"What?" Rose stared at the doctor in shock.
She waved her hand dismissively and said, "Doctor, there must be a mistake with the results! How...? How can I be pregnant? I came here because I've been feeling a little weak these past few days. I'm not pregnant! How can that be?"
"Miss Reed, I've been a doctor for fifteen years, and I don't make mistakes in tests. You are indeed pregnant. The weakness you've been feeling is due to early pregnancy symptoms-you're one month along."
Rose stared at the test results in her hand, which confirmed she was one month pregnant. She was in a daze.
She couldn't believe it.
'How can I be pregnant?' she thought. 'Was it because of that dream? Could someone get pregnant just from having sex in a dream?'
If anyone knew her thoughts, they might think she had mental problems, but that wasn't the case!
The reason she thought this way was simple: she had never been with anyone. She had no man in her life, no romantic encounters, nothing. So... how could she be pregnant?
But looking at the test results, she couldn't deny it.
Even though the idea was ridiculous and without any scientific explanation, she couldn't think of any other reason...
Rose walked out of the doctor's office in a daze.
Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice the couple walking toward her and accidentally bumped into them, causing the reports in her hand to fall to the floor.
"Oh! I'm so sorry... I didn't see-" she quickly apologized and bent down to pick up the reports, but the other person had already grabbed them.
"Thank..." Rose started to thank that person, but her words caught in her throat when she saw who it was... Her face turned cold as her eyes narrowed.
Looking at the couple standing in front of her, she had only one thought: 'Enemies are bound to meet on narrow paths.'
Not long ago, the two people standing before her had been the most important in her life. Now, just one look at them made her feel disgusted.
"Rose... you're pregnant?!" The woman, who had picked up the report, looked at her in surprise.
It was like she was very shocked...
However, there was a faint, inexplicable joy on her face, though she pretended to appear concerned.
Rose took the test results from her hand and replied coldly, "Nancy Wilson, I don't think this has anything to do with you."
Her voice was sharp and indifferent.
Looking at the woman in front of her, Rose wondered how she had ever considered her a friend. She must have been a fool in the past.
Nancy, however, ignored the coldness in Rose's tone and continued, "Rose, how could you do something like this? James still can't stop thinking about you! How could you cheat on him like this?"
"Hahaha!"
Rose couldn't help but laugh out loud at Nancy's words.
She found her utterly ridiculous.
"What did you just say? That I cheated on him? And... that he still loves me?" Rose couldn't help but ask in a mocking tone...
"You said he can't stop thinking about me, right? Then was he thinking about me when he was having sex with you in the library behind my back? Was he not the one who betrayed me with my so-called best friend?"
"Rose! How can you blame James? It's my fault-I fell in love with him and couldn't control my feelings. He's innocent," Nancy said, wiping away fake tears.
"Nancy, you don't need to talk to such a b*tch or cry," James said, pulling Nancy into his arms like she was some kind of treasure.
Then he turned to Rose, "Are you not just pretending to be pure and innocent? If you're so good, then how did you get pregnant? Aren't you ashamed?" His tone full of mockery and disgust.
"Why should I feel ashamed? Getting pregnant isn't something shameful. Besides, I'm an adult and single, so I don't see any problem with it," Rose replied coldly.
Even though she didn't know how she got pregnant, that wasn't the point.
She looked at the couple in front of her and added, "At least I'm better than people who betray others behind their backs."
Rose's gaze hardened as she looked at them. She felt nothing but disgust. She had never seen anyone so shameless!
Two months ago, this man was her boyfriend, and the woman was her best friend.
Back then, James had pursued her crazily! Their love had been so intense that they were called the best couple on campus. But one day, James's so-called love vanished into thin air, and he dumped her.
The reason? She had refused to sleep with him before marriage.
From that moment, Rose learned one thing very clearly: men CAN'T be trusted. They were just animals who used their lower bodies to think!
