Chapter 9 Boss and Followers

Kira's POV.

As I scanned through the files in my newly acquired office, a throbbing headache disturbed me and that was because I had spent the better part of the night attempting to bring order to my new world. Establishing my dominion over this newly acquired empire was proving to be a Herculean task, especially with adversaries lurking around every corner, eager to see me fail, to see me make one wrong move so they'll end my new reign.

The late Master's family posed the greatest challenge, their hatred towards me grows everyday and I always give them new reasons to hate me... I can't help it, I keep seeing reasons to make them hate me and I never fail to take hold of that opportunity.

They were determined to thwart my every move, clinging to the hope of reclaiming what they believed to be rightfully theirs. But I refused to yield. The empire bore my name now, and I would fight tooth and nail to maintain my hold on it.

I need to acquire as much power as I can, that's the only way I can get what I want.

Acquiring the clubs, freezing some of the accounts and getting the houses was merely the beginning. Ruling over them with an iron fist would require cunning and strategy. I knew that success would not come easily, but I was prepared to seize control, one step at a time.

They think I'm evil and that's good cause that's exactly what I'm building on, I've been doomed before but...

"Come out! Where is she?!" I heard a roar outside and I creased my brow, wondering what new drama was up now.

"Let me in you dogs! Let me in!" The voice screamed again and I looked at the transparent door with a lazy smile playing on my lips.

My bouncers were stopping three men from entering my office. I could see them but they couldn't see me.

I knew this was coming, those three men held an important position in the company but they were not only spies for some of the Jones's family, they were thieves and I have their records.

With a nonchalant yawn, I tapped the button under my desk, and the door slid open. My bouncers glanced at me questioningly, but I simply waved them aside. "Let them in," I instructed, balancing on my chair as the trio stormed into my office.

"You slut! How dare you fire us? You think you can come out of nowhere and fire us? Do you know our positions in this company?!" one of them bellowed, his face contorted with anger. I responded with a soft sigh, meeting their fury with an air of indifference.

"You should lower your voice when speaking to me," I remarked casually, my boredom evident in my tone. "Your shouting is only intensifying my headache, and I don't appreciate it, sir and I'm sorry for firing you all, just that I don't need your services anymore."

The other two men bristled at my words, their faces red with anger. "You..." one of them began, his teeth clenched in frustration, but I cut him off with a dismissive glance.

"What brings you gentlemen to my humble abode?" I inquired, leaning back in my chair. "Aren't you supposed to be packing your things and leaving? Or would you prefer to be escorted out?"

"The one who's supposed to leave is you! You can't be the boss of this company," the oldest-looking man declared, his voice dripping with venom. "This is one of the biggest companies in the Jones's empire, and we three rule this place. If you don't leave right now, you'll be leaving in pieces!"

I leaned forward, a mocking smile playing on my lips. "In pieces, you say? How intriguing. Please, tell me more."

"Bitch! Boss, we need to show her where she belongs!" one of the younger men spat, his anger boiling over. I turned my gaze to the man they referred to as their leader, a challenge gleaming in my eyes.

"Listen to your comrade," I urged, my voice laced with sarcasm. "Show me where I belong. I'm eager to see too."

The boss among the trio face twisted in fury, his fists clenched tightly. "You think you're clever, don't you, little bitch?" he seethed, his voice low and dangerous. "But you're just a pawn in this game. You don't belong here, and we won't rest until you're gone."

I smiled, meeting his glare with an icy gaze. "Is that a threat?" I asked calmly, scratching the tip of my nose.

Before he could respond, the younger one stepped forward, his expressions dark with malice. "You bet it's a threat," he sneered, taking a menacing step forward. "You've crossed the wrong people, and now you're going to pay for it."

I stood up and watched him approach, one of my bouncers made to move but I held my hand in the air and he stopped.

"If you come closer, Mr. Man, you'll leave this place with a scar that will remind you of me forever." I threatened and he stopped on his track and turned to the boss.

"Leave the little demoness and let's get our work done." The boss called the younger man who immediately retreated. Good for him, he might have lost an eye had he come nearer.

The boss brought out his phone and said, "Let the protest begin."

A sudden commotion erupted outside my office door. Voices raised in heated arguments echoed down the corridor, drawing my attention like a magnet.

"Watch your downfall, bitch!" The boss laughed and I furrowed my eyes at them, wondering what they were up to.

With a determined stride filled with curiosity, I flung open the door to confront the source of the disturbance. Before me stood a group of wild employees, their faces contorted with rage and defiance. They were shouting at the top of their voices, increasing my pounding headache. I glanced back at the three men behind me, their wicked grins only adding to my frustration.

"Get out of this place! We don't want you!! You have no place here!!!" a voice shouted above the chaos.

"We don't want another leadership! Get out, you opportunist!" another added and I rubbed my temples, trying to ward off the pounding in my head, as I contemplated how much of this drama I would have to endure before securing my place as the supreme ruler of my empire.

"F.u.c.k!" I cursed silently under my breath, the stress mounting on me.

With a steely gaze, I bellowed, "Enough!" My voice cut through the uproar, commanding attention and silencing the crowd.

"You all want me out, right?" I asked and they shouted "YES!!!"

I chuckled wryly, a glint of mischief in my eyes. "Alright, I'm going to be a sweet democratic leader and listen to the voices of the masses," I declared, my tone dripping with irony which elicited laughter from the men behind me.

"Giving up so soon?" one of them jeered, his arrogance evident in his voice.

I turned towards them, a smirk playing on my lips. "You don't know me at all, gentlemen. The game is just beginning, why are you in such a hurry to end it?"

My question leaves them momentarily stunned. With a smile, I turned to one of my bouncers and issued a command. "Get me a chair."

As my bouncer swiftly fetched a chair, the murmurs worsened and so did my headache. The crowd watched with wary anticipation, unsure of what I wanted to do. With a deliberate calmness, I took a seat, folding my hands in my lap as I surveyed the angry employees.

"Now that I have your attention and I'm a bit comfortable," I began, my voice steady and commanding, "let's talk like boss and followers."
