Chapter 7 Seven

David

It's me against these masked idiots tonight and I guess that this is just a prank and these are just those dumb frat boys and their stupid schemes. I have told them so many times that I don't want to join their frat. And why are they calling me an abomination? It's the fact that they're homophobic that was my reason for not joining their frat.

One of them thrusts a large sword toward me and I dodge it super quick and that impresses me a little bit. "Whoa." I move backward and another one lunges toward me and I shove him away. "Whoa," I say that last part with confidence because I love how I did that.

"This was just a test." the leader says. "And you have turned into a werecat, so for that, you must die." they all charge at me at once, I kick one away from me and I scratch one violently with my claws, at least I have a weapon.

These are not frat boys at all, they called me a werecat so I guess that they know about the supernatural they know about werecats and me being one. I can't believe I'm actually admitting to being a werecat, how is this happening right now? And who are these people?

What's it to them that I'm a werecat? Are they hunters? Oh shit, I'm not going to die tonight. I might be strong and flexible but they are also strong and flexible. Two of them hold me and the one with the golden sword gets it out. "This will end you once and for all. No coming back." I struggle to get away from their grip but they're too strong and it looks like they've been this way for a long time. I just became a werecat. And I'm a fool for thinking that I can take them.

I just stop trying and I await my fate. I close my eyes and I get ready to die. This is how it ends huh? I get cheated on, and haunted down to be killed in New York? This sucks a bunch.

I'm going to miss my family and New York. The thrill of being a werecat was fun while it lasted.

I await my demise but then I hear grunts and moans, kicks and punches. I open my eyes to see what's going on, and I see these masked strangers being attacked. There's someone here or rather people here saving me. The people that were once holding me aren't holding me anymore and they're gone, I hear their screams.

Next thing I know these people are running, running like they weren't acting all tough a second ago. Fucking pussies.

I look around to see who it was that saved me and I see someone coming out of the shadows, no not someone, two people. As soon as they come into the light I see a beautiful Egyptian beauty, golden brown skin and all, standing next to Max. A worried Max walks up to me.

"Are you okay?"

"How did you-"

"Who were those losers and what did they want with you?" The lady asks, her voice so elegant and poised unlike mine that's so loud. Her dark hair is in a ponytail, her makeup simple it's nothing much and she's in a dress and purple heels. She looks so badass and she looks a lot like Max, If Max changed his gender, or if Max was in drag. I have a lot of questions for her, but first things first.

"How did you find me?" I ask Max.

"We're mates Maxwell, we'll always find each other," he says smiling like a teenage boy who is talking to his crush. It seems like he is more excited about all this mate stuff than I am.

"Aww, you're the guy who has captured my little brother's heart. Hmm." The lady looks me up and down observing me. The way she does it is with sass, other people would hide that they're profiling you, this lady does not give a flying fuck. "He's cute, I like him," she says to her brother and Max looks pleased that she likes me. "I'm Sara, Max's older and wiser sister." she brings out her hand in a very cool way, her fingernails are well-manicured and painted a pink colour. I take her hand, it's hard and soft at the same time.

"Nice to meet you," I say to her.

"Likewise. Now you know I love you but who were those people and why didn't they fight like humans?"

"I-" I shrug. "I have no idea who they were, at first I thought they were frat boys who wanted me to join their frat and then I thought they were too strong to be humans so I thought maybe werecats but... aren't they?" I ask Max that question.

"No, those are not werecats. A werecat can sense other werecats. And those aren't werewolves either." he says and now I'm getting scared because who the fuck were those people? I see Max is trying to think of who those people could be but he's not having the best time.

"They had this gold sword and they said something about ending me once and for all," I say trying to help and I watch as Sara's expression goes blank, Max's as well. I look at both of them. "What?"

"It's just- our father was killed by that gold sword," Sara says in a low voice, she doesn't sound as confident as she was before. She sounds sad and she looks sad, and so does Max.

Oh my God.

"Werecats can barely be killed, you have to kill them nine times to get results," Max says. "But there's this weapon a witness said he saw someone have that killed my father. It kills a werecat once and for all. At first, we thought it was the doing of a werewolf but it's not, at least we don't think so."

All this information in one day, when I say I wanted to have adventure in New York this was not what I signed up for. I didn't expect werewolves or werecats. I didn't even know they existed I thought it was something in movies, fiction but they're real. I'm looking at two and I am one of them now.

This feels so fucking strange.

"So what next?" I ask because they were both being quiet. I bet it's the trauma from their dad. When they realize they've been absent-minded they snap out of it and come back to reality.

"What's next is you need to go be safe," Sara says and it's weird because we've only just met and she's already thinking about my safety. "Where do you live?"

I look backwards, "Just right here." an apartment close to the NYU campus. Me and Elijah chose to live here because best friends should be living with each other and not fucking their best friend's boyfriend.

Max walks closer to me and he takes my hand. My God, he is more excited about this than I am, I'm still trying to process. "Please stay safe," he says and the way he says it warms my heart because he genuinely looks concerned for me. His eyes scream worry. So I hold his hand.

"I'll be fine."

"Do you want me to walk you to your apartment?" Max asks.

"No need, I'm good. Thank you for helping me." he smiles and I look away from him and my eyes are on Sara who is smiling too. "I don't understand all this, but I would love to. Are you willing to help me go through this?"

"David, of course," he says excited to teach me.

"I'm here for you as well," Sara says.

"Thank you." I walk away from both of them.

"Goodnight!" Max says and I throw a piece sign in the air and I step into the building. I head upstairs and I walk into my apartment all the lights are off and the house is extra quiet. This is unusual because Elijah is always blasting pop music he even sleeps with it. I go to his room to tell him about my day but then I stop in front of the door and I pause because I remember what he did. And I walk away and head to my room.

I lock the front door and I lock the door to my room as well, no way a bunch of werecat killers are going to find me and kill me here. When I climb the bed I think of Max and how protective and caring he is. Damn, he wanted me to be safe. It looks like something that I have never seen in Ryan and maybe it's my fault and I should have seen that Ryan was a big fool and he didn't deserve my love.

I didn't plan on dating anyone for weeks because the cheating still hurts but I'm willing to give Max a chance. That's if I'm not gutted by a golden sword.
