Chapter 4 Shadows of Deception.

I continue to track him carefully concealing myself to avoid detection. After a while he stopped scanning his surroundings, seemingly convinced that no one was watching him.

"What do you want?" He asked, turning to my direction. I couldn't hide myself anymore as I was being caught. I gently came out of my hidden place.

"I just want to know more about you"

"There's nothing interesting to know about me, I'm Kyle that's all".

His words struck my mind leaving me in shock wondering why he finds it so hard to communicate with me.

"I saw it and I'm interested in knowing more about this wolf form of yours. I guess I'm one of your kind".

"One of my kind? Is this what I'm thinking? If so, it isn't good for you".

"To my little understanding about the wolf I was told they are very dangerous but yours just create a difference. I still wondered why you helped me".

"Good things don't last, bad things leave a pain in one's heart creating memories that won't be forgotten".

"And what do you mean?"

"You will understand soon"

His words left me pondering and I attempted to engage him in further conversation to uncover his meaning.

However he wasn't interested, his countenance tinged with sorrow just as I was determined to press for more insight.

I noticed Aria and a group of men approaching suddenly interrupting the moment.

"Your people await you" He said and left.

I turned to see Aria as she ran to embrace me with a kiss on my cheek.

"Where have you been? Why do you leave without telling me?". She whispered to my ears.

"Sorry about that Aria I'm just interested in knowing more about him".

"Who!" She curiously asked.

I gestured in his direction and she saw Kyle walking home.

"Do you like him?".

"Not really just interested in knowing more about his abilities".

"What abilities?".

"His Werewolf abilities".

"What!" Her eyes opened wide in shock, "Don't tell me you're in love with a wolf, I think it is better we go home".

She took my hands and led me to follow her home with the other men assisting us as we walked back together.

A few minutes later when we arrived home I could see every one waiting at the entrance accepting me like a queen. I was overwhelmed seeing their smiles and happiness on their faces.

I was treated like part of their family but right inside of me I know I was actually different from them. I'm a wolf.

They are wolves hunters. How can we strike this balance because I wonder what will happen if a predator is kept with its prey. This was a secret kept and never to be revealed to anyone.

A little girl eagerly approached me and placed a beautiful flower necklace around my neck. I was thrilled and felt a strong sense of gratitude as it had been a long time since I had received such a heartfelt gesture.

"Thank you so much for the gift. What's your name, pretty damsel?"

"I'm Eva," She said with a smile.

"Ok nice meeting you Eva. I said embracing her then went into our room with Aria.

As we stood inside Aria remained still for a moment and there was a brief silence then she proceeded.

"Lyra I know what is hidden in you, I know what you're struggling with and I know why you left the previous night".

Her words frightened me and I was shocked wondering if she had discovered my secrets.

"Don't worry Lyra this is a secret between me and you and I know you're a werewolf, I know this ever since I rescued you from the disaster that befall your pack".

"I just need to learn more about my abilities that's why I'm interested in knowing more about Kyle"

"Be careful about strangers, mostly the ones you meet in the woods. Bad things may look good at first but dangerous at the end".

"What can I do now?".

"You only need to discover yourself, your lineage, every past existence around you"

"I can't remember anything, I don't even know anything about my parents or where I was born, the only thing I remember is my name". I clapped my hands on my head with tears in my eyes.

"Don't worry Lyra I wish I could help but this is your path, your destiny and a prophecy you must fulfill when the times come and when your memory will reveal itself".

She uttered these words and left me to my thoughts overcome with emotion as I wept profusely meanwhile some men hastened to the Rogue pack to deliver a message to Zeus the Alpha King.

"Your highness I've a message for you" He said, bowing his head to the ground and gasping heavily.

"What news do you have? speak to my hearings".

"Sir, We were attacked by your son in the woods".

"My son!" He stood up in grief.

"Your son Kyle"

"How possible will my son attack his own pack? How possible is that? What have you done?".

"We met a pretty damsel in the woods. I guess she was a wolf but she struggles with her transformation so we intend to make enquiries about maybe she could be a mate to Kyle".

"Enough! My son can't have a mate outside his pack. That's an abomination. He paused as he proceeded further "Do I hear you say a pretty damsel who is a wolf?". He curiously asked.

"Yes sir".

"What's her name and what pack does she belong to?".

"I've no idea that maybe your son Kyle may know more about her because save her from our grip".

"Then look for her and bring her to my palace. I need to know every damn thing about her".

"Your wish is our command" They responded in unison.

Zeus grew agitated pondering the possibility of another survival pack in town and his mind raced with plans to invade and plunder their resources seeking to claim everything to himself.
