Chapter 4 The Dream

Scarlett arrived home and she walked in only to get startled by Kia who was sitting by the stairs with the light off.

"Jesus Christ Kia! What the hell is wrong with you? You scared me."

"Where have you been? I got back like hours ago and-" She paused for a second as she noticed the blood on Scarlett's hand. "What happened to you?" She voiced her in a concerned tone as she held Scarlett's hand.

Kia is Scarlett's best friend and has been part of her life since high school. Her jovial life had been a source of strength to Scarlett.

"Huh.. this? Don't worry about it. It's just a small scratch, I'm fine." Scarlett insisted.

"What do you mean fine? You're clearly injured. Come with me." She pulled her to the sofa and got the first aid kit to treat her wound. "Tell me what happened to you?"

Scarlett narrated the events that took her to the Red and Blue Pub and what unfolded when she went there but she excluded her elevator encounter.

"I can't believe that piece of trash. Why the hell will he do that?" Kia cursed angrily as she placed a bandage on Scarlett's hand with care.

"That's not even the highlight babe. He had the nerve to use my credit card to foot the bills just so he could impress that lady."

"What?" Kia thundered. "He's more than trash then. I can't believe this. So what did you do? You should have given him a beating he'd never forget."

"I smashed his head with a glass, that's how I got the cut." Scarlett stated painfully.

"Ohh...Really? You're brutal-but I love it. Serves him right. You worked so hard to get by daily and he had the mind to snooze it off in a club? I'd kill him if I was there. It's a good thing you found out earlier before pushing Dew Igor away. His proposal still stands, you know. He even gave you access to his condo without you accepting him first. He is doing everything possible everyday to show you how much he loves you. He is the best man in your life right now but you never listen. Now you've learned the hard way."

"Whatever. Dew is nice but I cannot bring myself to love him. I don't feel anything for him."

"How will you feel when you aren't even willing to open your heart to anyone. You're just dead inside and that's it." Kia informed her by stating what's obvious to everyone.

On hearing Kia's words, Scarlett's mind trailed back to the brief moment she encountered with Derek back in the elevator. She recalled the outburst of feelings she was experiencing back there and kept thinking about it.

"Scarlett.. Scarlett." Kia called her repeatedly as she kept snapping her fingers at Scarlett's face. "Why are you suddenly having a shy girl's radiant pink cheeks huh? Tell me, what are you thinking about that's making you blush so much?"

"What do you mean blush so much? It's nothing like that." Scarlett shot at Kia while keeping a straight face and shook Derek off her mind.

Scarlett was never one to feel for any man that she encountered. Her relationships always ended in two days or two weeks and two weeks was the highest record because it was either she got bored or the guy realized he was dating a robot. Derek too can't be an exception. She would definitely get over this strange feeling, she assured herself.

"Besides, enough of the men talk, I'm done with love and them and I'm off to bed." With that she headed to her bedroom.

In the early hours of the morning, Scarlett was dreaming; there was a mist of seduction in the air like aphrodisiac candles were being burnt in strategic places in the room. But it wasn't a thing, it was something man made, it was the atmosphere- it was emotion. An atmosphere of emotions cracking in the room's air like lightning and thunder. But even in that turbulence, it was quiet. So quiet you could hear a pin drop. But soon, the sound of a soft moan choked the silence.

"Fuck this feel so good," Scarlett let out mentally as she stared deeply into the eyes of the strange man she was on top of.

The man was dead handsome and his dark curly hair looked so good and she could feel his well built abs as her body pressed against his. The warmth from his body and his strong perfume scent, felt so relaxing that it made Scarlett's nipples harden. It's been a long time since she felt like having a man.

She had met a lot of guys after her break up, but none of them made her feel the way she was feeling now. His dark brown eyes looked cold but annoyingly made her heart beat faster.

"Who are you?" His voice was cold but then hearing it made her heart race. She kept staring at him as their lips kept getting closer and closer.

Just as her whimsical fantasy reached its crescendo, the sound of the doorbell caused her body to jerk up, yanking her back to reality. She opened her eyes to find herself in her bedroom.

"What?" She sat on her bed realizing it was all a dream. Funny that she was dreaming of a guy she barely knew. How could she dream about that elevator scene again?

She sighed, her mind still clinging to her interrupted dream. "What a bad timing, just when I was about to taste those lips." She whispered almost silently to herself with her index finger alluring caressing her lower lip. She thought furthermore, "I shouldn't have disappeared that way, I should have tasted those-"

"No!!!" Scarlett exclaimed, shaking off the salacious thought. Then, the doorbell rang again. Scarlett kept cursing in her mind. She had imagined sprinting up to the door and stabbing the person a million times in her head. She bit her lip and jumped out of bed.

She dawdled herself to the door, her facial expression looking so bitter as she was ready to explode on whoever her eyes saw."I wonder who's at the door? Where is Kia?" She muttered as she walked disorientedly to the door.

When she swung the door open, she saw her father's assistant standing there, just outside.

"What do you want?" Scarlett asked as soon as she caught sight of him.

"Mr. Eugene wants to speak with you. It's urgent, you need to come with me."

Scarlett's expression turned skeptical, her brows raised. "I can't believe him. So after kicking me out of the house, he sends for me. How convenient! What more does he want from me?" Scarlett crossed her hand over chest.

"I don't have the answers you're looking for, Miss Fernando but it's important to meet this morning. It's urgent. It's an emergency."

"Fine, whatever. Tell him, I'll be there." She said and shut the door right after. But her heart wondered what could be wrong. "Why is my father suddenly looking for me?" She thought. The fowl man wasn't one to call with such an urgent manner. What could he possibly want from her?
